What are you guy's thoughts on the new velma series that just dropped?

Is this actually real...?

Did they seriously turn the fucking DOG into Shaggy's girlfriend?:jaceknife:

I’ve noticed that even woke properties pair up black people with each other for relationships. It’s kind of weird that even leftist media is afraid to show interracial couples (outside of porn, I guess).

Pretty dumb show. Everything is so on the nose. "We're female cops so no one takes us seriously." "This guy is white which means he's a privileged idiot." "Being myself won't work because I'm a beta male."

Some of the things in this show just boggle the mind. Like Velma is bad at math so she cheats by having Shaggy, er sorry, Norville send her the answers. Is this supposed to be a joke about how Indians are supposed to be good at math? Are they trying to give Velma a character flaw? Is it just supposed to be a joke about how pathetic Norville is? How the fuck are people supposed to respond to this? Then they have Velma and Daphne hate each other, but later on they decide to dyke out, out of nowhere. There's also a part where they show a bunch of teenage girls showering, but because they're complaining about being exploited then that makes it ok because IrOnY?

I see people saying that this is some kind of conspiracy where it was made bad on purpose to...get attention? I don't know. It looks to me like it was just made by a bunch of shitty writers who have nothing to say and have no idea how to be funny. And they had to use the Scooby Doo IP because otherwise no one would pick up "Angry Indian Feminist: The Show."

Another youtube personality chimes in all that's left is brad jones, mrenter, and ls mark.

was gonna post in western animation but nobody's posted anything new all day in there.

Man what a fucking waste bringing Glenn Howerton aboard as Fred just to waste him on cliche micro dick jokes. If you've ever seen IASIP you know he can play a perfect manic creepy psychopath that would be perfect for this kind of show.

Like I said in A&N, I hate this show with a passion. A friend put it as a gag on TV and I wanted to claw my eyes out in the first two minutes. They have to spell everything out with zero subtlety, there's no logic at all in the gags or the plot, and it has this tone of being what a 15 year old feminist girl believes a good comedy to be like; just stupid shit they came up with about 10 minutes before their presentation in front of class.

It's just dumb faggy randumb humor for useless white women with no tits.

However it's not complicated, there is not secret plot against the woke in hollywood. This is simply made for BlackRock investors and ESG scores in mind. It's the future and culture you choosed.

The timing of the show being during WEF's current forum, seems to be that they arranged it as another distraction too, just like the airplane crash in Nepal, and Jay Briscoe dying in car crash.

Brown valley girl that knows nothing of animation becomes showrunner, makes "buzzfeed: the screenplay" with a known franchise name attached. Will bomb and be panned by audiences and critics but internally marketed as a success because it created "online engagement". See you next month when we do this all over again for the next stupid garbage thats promoted to the top of everyone's newsfeed.

And now some folks check the brown valley girl past.

As someone who grew up watching Scooby-Doo and having core memories of movies like “Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase” and “Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire,” HBO Max’s newest original animated series, “Velma,” is a massive disappointment.

Although this isn’t yet-another hate piece about the show and the lack of Scooby, it is a piece about why the executive producer Mindy Kaling, is catching a lot of flack because of it and her controversial past that was brought up as a result.

Ever since she starred as Kelly Kapoor in “The Office,” Kaling has made quite a name for herself with various projects of her own like “The Mindy Project” and “Never Have I Ever.”

Despite her successes as a write-performer, there’s been a massive amount of controversy surrounding her over the years, and it might finally turn the public’s opinion of her around to a negative one as a result of “Velma.”
ClownfishTV even vlogged a bit about it.

The Velma in Mystery Incorporated was actually likeable whilst still having some negative qualities. She even got almost literally catfished in one episode and didn't it turn out that the one follower of her blog was her mother? Yet for all that she was essentially a good person with positive qualities. All of the gang were which made them likeable and work together as a group despite wild differences at times.

Fred was clueless but obsessively good at what he actually did. And he cared about his friends even if he couldn't quite show it. He was pretty much a high-functioning autistic. And you liked him.

Daphne was preoccupied with superficial things. They literally work out one mystery because she has allergies to fake designer brands. But again, a good person at heart. Also, who didn't laugh when she found a copy of "Traps Illustrated" which Freddie had hidden down the side of a sofa?

Shaggy lacked backbone and couldn't decide between hanging out with his dog and his girlfriend. But was endlessly entertaining and again - a good person.

Scooby - well no spoilers but Mystery Incorporated did something with him that I would never have expected in a million years with the "lore" behind him. And once again - a good person dog.

They all had flaws and they all shone through them in a believable way. Whereas from what I've seen of "Velma" she's the exact opposite. No flaws, just victimhood. And a horrible person.

Mystery Incorporated also had one of the most carefully planned out and well-executed story arcs I've seen in a cartoon. The way it all snuck up on the viewer was fantastic.
