What game did you finish today?

Beaten Kirby: Planet Robobot a couple days ago.

I’m so glad I somehow didn’t get spoiled on the final few fights. That shit was insane.

Just 100% Kirby and the Forgotten Land a couple of days ago. It's been a long time since I played 3D platformer, and this one really hooked me up.

I like how it handles co-op, where you can share items' effect with your partner. Me and Mrs. Sato were having some real fun.

necroing this thread to talk about a little game called baten kaitos origins. my feelings of the game is all over the place. at one point, i liked it, than i hated it. than i liked it again, and hated it some more.

the game starts up with the main character Sagi, waking up in the dark service base (that is basically the secret service) and gets a mission to assassinate the emperor in a coup. lets just say things dont go as plans and his forced into hiding in the conspiracy.

dont get me wrong, i ended up liking the game by the end and its ending was really sweet. i liked the story and characters of origins more than i did in eternal wings beacuse the cast was smaller, making the bond the main group share feel very genuine and personal. it also helps that every major character has a decent voice actor unlike how it was the case in eternal wings (how the hell can you screw that up so badly, i have no clue)

now the gameplay, i wont go into how it all works but its alot faster than it was in eternal wings and demands you pay attention at all times. if you too slow or mess up a combo, it can and sometimes will, end in your death. all boss battles are basically DPS checks that make sure you understand how the game plays. bosses are fast, and hit hard. sometimes even heal during a combo so you have to combine cards to make your own combos and built up enough SP so you can diss out all your strongest cards in one big combo frenzy, nuking the boss to oblivion. early and mid game can feel very cheap since you may not have that good of many cards but once you reach end game, you nuke bosses left and right but by than, the game is already over.

baten kaitos origins. is harder than your average JRPG that forces you to git gud or get smoked pretty early in the game. if your up for a challenge with a decent cast of character's, amazing soundtrack and 90 hours of free time, give it a shoot.

I got to two of the endings for Cute Bite (think Princess Maker with vampires). In my first run, I hunted too many people and a vampire hunter kicked my ass and killed my vampire. The other ending my child vampire grew into an adult, accepted me as her servant and she became a master of parties and fashion.

After bitching about Wave Race Blue Storm I captured some footage of it from the first cup and Wave Race 64 on expert reverse to compare the two. Then I played through Wave Race 64. The last few tracks in the secret cup are bullshit but at that point the WR64 devs are basically trolling you, the track layout is so obtuse that the AI can barely deal with it. Like gunning into the corner of a wall to pass a buoy but just before getting there you better start pulling into a hairpin suicide turn to avoid eating shit. That's under ideal conditions. Pray that the other racers aren't right behind you.

These tracks play very much like Blue Storm but isn't as shit.

Danganronpa V3. The ending was unsatisfying, convoluted, and too meta for me, but I enjoyed the game overall. Probably the most memorable one of the trilogy with the best characters and music.

The non-canon dating shit was (literally) gay af though. I'll never look at Gonta the same way ever again.

Finished the main story of FFVII Remake. Wasn't too shabby, though honestly, the fate kaiju would have made a better final final boss
Hated the fate Kaiju. I found it too long, over-the-top, and set up very awkwardly. I would rather have the Motorball like in the original.

Anyways, beat Greedfall again on Extreme. The parrying mechanic is kinda OP, but considering how hard the early game is, it makes combat less lopsided given how dodging is a bit unreliable.

I beat Arkham Asylum again earlier this week. The game still holds up, I just wish the final boss fight was...well, an actual boss fight.

Started Arkham City again. I'll beat it and get all the Riddler secrets this time.
I think Arkham City is the easier game to revisit. Asylum was good, really good when it came out* but there's a bit of clonk and wonk with it that they ironed out with City.

*Remember how many games aped the fighting system? It was as influential as Halo or Gears of War.

Yes, I 'member. It was an elegant solution to the question "How can the player fight multiple dudes and not feel bogged down?" City is definitely more in line with games today, but I kind of liked the smaller, more self-contained feel of Asylum. It felt more like a game, and less like a commitment.
