What Have You Cooked Recently?

I made a turkey yesterday and today I made stock out of the bones and fat. Took about five hours to slowly simmer the bones down. Haven't added anything to it yet. That comes later (like onion and garlic peels, herbs and such) for when I'm making soup/ stew or gravy.

The most recent thing I succeeded in making was beef stroganoff in a slow cooker and it turned out nicely (used Philadelphia Cheese instead of sour cream).

Last night, I've been experimenting with making an avocado stuffed with egg and wrapped in bacon

...it's a work in progress (the first recipe I tried used a soft boiled egg instead of a poached one in in the below video)

I made chicken with white wine and chicken stock tonight for dinner. I love putting alcohol in my food -- beer battered fish, slow cooked roast in red wine, chocolate beer cake, shrimp scampi. The best.

looks like a California Scotch Egg

Well I cooked this as of recently.

Originally I was going to cook riceballs but it ended up failing miserably so it was brown rice with turkey and scallions (and a few pieces of seaweed for what was supposed to be riceballs (but they crumbled)). It actually tasted pretty good though.

Sorry if the video is kind crappy and a bit powerlevely though, but I actually wanted to record a video of me cooking something earlier though so I did it.

I made a cake for my little sister's birthday. She wanted a s'mores cake and its the most sugary thing ever.

I've been working on making potato chips. I know that I'll likely lose fingers with a mandolin, and I've yet to develop the sort of skill to slice them thin enough with a knife. Seemed simple enough to use a potato peeler and keep going once I've removed the skin. Shapes are odd, but that is fine. Next, to experiment with seasoning.

It's horribly unhealthy on fried food, but I made homemade potato chip seasonings by mixing the seasonings I wanted into a little bit of oil and brushing it on the chips. Then, I threw them in the oven at 400 F so the oil would dry and bake the seasonings onto the chips.

Tried making mac and cheese with an actual sauce. 1 part flour, 1 part butter, and the cheese and milk. I think it should be adjusted to 2 parts butter 1 part flour, but the worchestershire sauce (worst name ever) and the paprika work extremely well with the cheese.

I smoked a bunch of pork loins and some hotdogs and sausages. It's a good way to cook because then you can just randomly decide to incorporate smoked meat into your other foods instead of having a whole recipe. So today I made a quesadilla with smoked pork, wilted greens and baby kale, roasted corn and peppers with black beans. Then serve it over a bed of baby greens and drizzle with sriracha and pretend youre in a more hipster version of Chili's eating a much better version of one of their shitty Quesadilla "Explosion" Salads.

The greens did a really good job of cutting some of the "fatty, heavy" flavors of cheese, and the rest of it was really good.
