What Have You Cooked Recently?

I made my own horchata for the first time, it's also the first time I've had it homemade. I love it sooo much. I could have added a little less sugar I think. I took maybe 2/3 a cup of uncooked rice, 2 cinnimon sticks, 2 cups of water and blended it up, added 2 more cups of water and let it sit overnight. Next day I strained it out, added in a tiny bit of vanilla, a cup of milk, and 1/2 a cup of sugar. Let that chill for a while and serve it with ice and cinnimon on top and you've got some tasty shit. Some recipes call for chopped almonds with the rice, some call for almond milk instead of regular, some don't call for any dairy. Whatever you wanna do, it's all tasty.

So I just cobbled together a pretty OK dinner. New York strip steak (a bit fatty), just a hair beyond blue rare, deglazed the pan with some basic-bitch cooking wine and cooked some mushrooms in the mess that ensued. Then boiled up some red potatoes in fresh parsley, minced garlic and saffron.

I've never been so impressed with potatoes in my life.

I made chili con carne, I roasted and made my own spice mix, hence the color from the ancho chiles.

I've been cooking the "Oklahoma Onion Burger" quite a bit recently, I believe it was made popular in the 1920's when beef was expensive so people stretched it out by mixing lots of onions with their burgers and as someone who loves onions in their burger it's a good recipe.

It's easy to make since all you need to do is use half as much beef as you usually do when making a hamburger and then chop up a bunch of onions and just press it into the burger patty while grilling it.

Attempted to milk-braise chicken with Masala spices as the aromatic... it didn't go too well tbh.

I just grilled a juicy seasoned hamburger and threw on a bun with Provolone and slathered it with ketchup and red onions it was so good I might have another. That Foreman grill is a bitch to clean though.

It reminds me of something my family called german hamburger where we threw in salt raw eggs pepper onions tomato garlic powder and Worcester sauce and made patties with it. It wasn't until I was older that i realized it was a great way to extend hamburger meat.

Cheeseburger Salad. If you've never had it it's basically your standard taco salad but with onions, regular ground beef instead of seasoned ground beef and with Potato Wedges instead of tortilla chips/shells. For the dressing I find using both ranch and honeymustard togeth really makes this dish disappear in seconds.

It's pretty much making a meatball burger, which isn't a bad thing IMO.

For breakfast I’m firing up the grill to roast some Anaheim peppers and green onions to go with the steak and eggs I’m gonna cook after.

For a while I was doing ground beef in inch-ish chunks over a bunch of spinach and onions and stuff
