I suggest we include the hypothetical, "how would Christian fare in a society wherein behavior correlative to what we understand as 'autism' is the norm?", just so we have a little bit more to work with.
I've discussed the possibility of an autistic society with a friend of mine before. We ended up agreeing that it would be either a utopia or hell on Earth, but not anywhere between the two. Assuming Chris's upbringing is such that it allows him to develop the same personality as he has in our world, he would likely do poorly. He just doesn't care enough about rules that don't benefit him to live in a society wherein strict adherence to rules would be valued. Also, an autistic society would probably have a very strict, harsh penal system. So, if a parallel to the whole Synder incident took place in such a world, he would probably be in a jail serving a 10 year sentence right now.
If everyone were Chris, on the other hand, the human race would collapse on itself, plain and simple. Chris has no specialized skills or knowledge whatsoever, so all the services and goods now enjoyed by humanity (processed foods, medical care, automobiles) would eventually cease to be. There could be no reproduction, if in fact the females who became Chris lost their genitalia and grew
s. One can only wonder (perhaps marvel is a better term) how Chris's homophobia would work itself out in a situation wherein there are no women and a large number of sexually frustrated, childlike autistic men who are given to extreme rationalization. I imagine they would faithfully remain on the "straight path" and instead take out their frustrations by killing each other in constant fights, made agonizingly slow by virtue of Chris's physical impotence, over mankind's dwindling resources.
