Alright, I'll take the bait, though this is more as a general response thing as opposed to answering BSV specifically since I know he'll ignore what I say and try and make this about the Mystery Woman thread again. Speaking of that, just be upfront about it next time BSV, it's pretty clear that's what you actually want to talk about here.
I think what makes Phil such an amusing cow is the fact that he is his own worse enemy. As many others have pointed out, Phil is an incredibly lucky person. He was able to game YouTube early on and develop an audience. If he just had an ounce of self awareness and wasn't so lazy, he could have turned that around to be something great. I'm not saying he could have been PewDiePie levels of successful or anything, but I think he could have been on the level of a smaller, yet still pretty successful channel, probably along the line of Game Grumps or something like that. He'd be able to make videos for a living, get plenty of support, have a nice happy community etc.
Instead? He became a greedy man child. He's incredibly toxic, and can't take responsibility for anything. He expects his fans to carry him, but he treats them like crap and only sees them as walking ATMS. Compare that behavior to a smaller YouTuber, like Pro Jared or something. Jared's a positive dude, treats his community well, and puts effort into his videos and doesn't just care about the money. And as a result, he's able to stay afloat and seems to do pretty well for himself. I think we can all list plenty of other YouTubers that are like that.
The fact that Phil is so open about things helps too. Honestly, if he didn't ramble about his personal stuff and air his dirty laundry, he'd probably have a significantly shorter thread on here. I haven't ever seen a single Phil stream, but I still know so much personal crap about him because he just constantly goes on and on about his sad little life, always trying to spin it so he doesn't have to take responsibility. It's just funny, especially when you consider that this dude is what, 35 years old? Anyway, the other funny thing about him is his obvious exaggerations and how much he cares about his image. I think this is actually what is most interesting about Phil. He cares so much about how others perceive him, and his reputation, but he's barely willing to put forth any effort to achieve these things. He expects them to just fall into his lap.
I also think that Phil is one of the easier cows to just start reading about. You might not get a lot of references at first, but Phil is just constantly doing something new and stupid to foil himself. You can jump into his thread at any point, and after a few pages have a pretty good idea of how big of a cow he is. And again, Phil himself provides most of the material just from his prestreams stuff, so he's in general a pretty low effort cow. I think it's safe to say the majority of us don't obsess over him. Some cows just provide a lot of material. I'd compare DSP to a less anger inducing version of Brianna Wu. Wu's had so many lengthy threads because, like Phil, he's doing something new and stupid practically every day and constantly advertising it to the rest of the world, and he's also obsessed about his image and loves to lie/exaggerate the truth to try and appear far more important than he actually is.
Finally, to veer off topic for a moment regarding Phil and the escort. Phil could actually pretty easily damage the escort saga by simply showing proof of his "real" girlfriend. And, if you actually took time to read the thread, you would see that there are other people that have doubts about the story, it just gets frustrating to talk in circles about said doubts over and over, so a lot of those posters are just waiting for the clock to wind down.
