You know OP, I'm American and I thought the same fucking thing. Here's what I determined.
Being trans, you can:
• Marry
• buy property
• consume alcohol and tobacco if over the age
• vote if over 18 and a citizen by birth or naturalization
• have a guaranteed k-12 education
• see doctors and have them cover most problems
• change your name
• not be discriminated for a job, house, or rent
• sue in a court of law if your rights are violated
• apply for emancipation from your parents
You currently cannot:
• always guarantee your right to a single gender restroom, single gender changing spaces, or single gender bathing spaces. You can use unisex installations.
• always get medical procedures RELATED to trans genderism covered by STATE medical insurance. You can likely get them covered by private insurance through a job or by buying it yourself, and can still buy medical peocedures out of pocket. It's not ideal, but the American healthcare system screws us all.
• always participate in single sex sporting events of your gender. you can join in unisex ones, or if you're FtM, they do not seem as keen on banning you.
• get someone in trouble for not calling you the correct gender.
I bring up the last one since Canada has a reeeeeee fine still.
Truthfully, I think they're fighting for things they already have or don't understand they have. There's so many trans people screeching about hatecrimes when they are some of the minority least likely to get hatecrimed. Not only that, in the west they have the right and the ability to sue, and if they die so does their family. This isn't the past, so many people treat trans death as sad instead of "lol". Their own anxiety over it keeps them from realizing how fucking safe they are if they're not in Latin America. Dear god, a transwoman was murdered, there aren't riots or street vigils plus no hunting down and crackdown of every single transphobe, I am going to die - ...when less than 100 trans people in America died last year, which is WAY LESS compared to literally any other demographic.
Another is screaming about abortion, but they're conflicting with rhe actual movement since they want to force people to say any man (only trans man) or person (only female nonbinary) can have an abortion! Followed by trans women saying they might have one in the future when technology improves.
I think most online trans rights are about both excessive medical access and not realizing they already have the rights they talk about, too many of them are in online bubbles and circlejerks that always make their brains assume the sky is falling and ANY SINGLE BILL directed near transing IS HOLOCAUST 2.0, not realizing their anxiety will likely push them into mental hospitals or worse sooner than any republican or terfnazi ever will.
They swallowed a lot of studies that amount to "are you happier 2 weeks after this surgery", "are you less suicidal now that you have been trans for 6 months", and other factors. The OG troon Julia Serano who built most of online modern discourse flatly states in his book that Transitioning is the ONLY FUCKING PROVEN METHOD to help trans people.
You can also say a lot of them expect the government to hold their hand and give them everything, from medical care to a working wage (thar is just... handed to them, not working a job) to girlfriend free lesbians. These guys are failures to launch and have either burned themselves out too much from life or more likely, have other mental illnesses and personal problems that made them too lazy to provide for themselves. A good portion of these people could be shipped overseas to do volunteer work to humble their asses, while the rest would return just as entitled as before.
Mainly, they're fighting for society to stop their anxiety, but it cant. Society could be paradise, but they don't realize the anxiety will never stop as long as they live. Because it is internal: their brains will not stop overreacting until they confront it.
