Even though he is pretty much "washed up" in terms of his Internet notoriety it was hypothesized in another thread that he might do decent in the convention scene; that's where voice actors go when they have little to no traditional VO work to do anymore. They get a table, some lithographs of the character(s) they voiced, and sell autographs for $15 a whack. Chris is past his prime online and I feel that his lingering notoriety -- especially in the anime/furry/otaku/gaming communities catered to by conventions -- would at least get him some extra coin. Even people who forgot about him would see "Attending Guests: blah, blah, Christian Weston Chandler, blah" and immediately go "holy shit I remember that guy".
How much would it cost for Chris to get a booth at an anime convention in Virginia? That would actually be a good idea for him if he needs some extra income besides his :tugboat: . It would be great if Chris put on his classic outfit with the :medallion: and cut his hair short again and showed up at the convention liked that.

Good lord, no. There's enough of a problem with sexual harassment at cons as it is.

Ah yes but how many times is it the booth operator is doing the harassment

We are talking about Chris here. You really think anything would stop him?

I think Chris would ask women to sit on his lap. I'm just saying it would be a reversal of expectations at a convention. Normally you have creeps hitting on booth operators like the guy hitting on his favorite voice actor...

Chris could never attend a convention. There was never sufficient interest, even at the height of his notoriety.

The only way it would work is if he appeared in a large city that had a sizable amount of trolls, as they are the only ones who would know who he is and/or care enough to attend.

I have to echo the previous poster who said the only value would be in his original works. I could legitimately see an entire issue of Sonichu selling for $50-250 each (likely the lower end), but it would only be to trolls. Certain special images might go for more. If he did new works that were of a highly controversial nature, those could perhaps sell--again, only to trolls--but just random nonsense about Sonichu? I could not see those going for much.

I've seen things from very old African-American ladies who painted like children, and their naivete and charm in their art work was a large part of the appeal. He does have that very childlike quality, but he is often goes towards bizarre and dark subject matter. The biggest problem though is that he draws crayons as comic book pages, with captions, etc.. If he had done some of his works in the exact same style, but as paintings, not comics, with no captions, I could see the appeal being much higher--to legitimate art collectors, that is. On the other hand, a lot of his work would lose their depth and poignancy if you were to take away the text. But even still, there would be certain images that could work. That's all hypothetical of course. The reality is he has poorly drawn images that represent a comic book. Art collectors cannot hang that on their wall in a frame.

I would pay 100 monopoly dollars per piece *yawn*

I believe the reason why he hasn't tried to make money of his doodles, or even do the whole youtube partner thing, is because of his inability to laugh at himself.
He's not a comedian, he's unintentionally funny. He takes himself too seriously, so he sees people laughing at him as people attacking him.
Which is why I think he never did the youtube partnership, or why he wouldn't attempt to sell his work, he knows people are laughing at him and he doesn't like it.

Yep, not enough buyer interest, not enough people who would be willing to do the legwork and other stuff for him for free (CON DEALER SPACE IS EXPENSIVE) and Chris wouldn't have the people skills to pull that off either, and he doesn't really enough interesting material to sell to begin with.

Besides, just like all other legitimately interesting marketing ideas, attending a con as an dealer is again a thing that would not occur to him. He has attended cons as a fan, that's all he knows about cons, and it never occurs to him that those artists that he saw there actually had to follow some procedures to get there and that he could do that too if he really fancies himself as an artist with a billion-strong fandase.

And even if it did occur to him that he could attend the con as an artist, he'd probably follow the cartoon-reality ideas in his head and think up a fool-proof plan to get even with those pesky trolls. He'd sell his comics until Clyde Cash shows up. He'd then tell the police in true blue to arrest the evil trolls and put them in jail, case dismissed.

Honestly, Im not even sure he thinks that he has legitament fans anymore. Back during his high point, he thought that there were millions of billions of TRUE AND HONEST fans of Sonichu, and yet a few million or so (numbers dont matter) trolls of which exist for no other reason to cause him pain.

Currently I dont think he believes that there are (or maybe ever were?) fans of him. If there were, they would surely do his bidding and go after the trolls, right?

Reality has been rather unkind to Chrissy lately :D

chris should just sell handmade medallians and sign each one, that way we can all be autists

He could probably pass the ashes of his comics as some kind of avant-grande modern art installation.

I wish he would, really. Not sure many people would buy though. Maybe if he priced stuff at like $10ish dollars but it'd be too much STRESS and he would never price True Original Artwork that low. It'd probably be an especially good idea now.

This is assuming that any of the True Originals survived the fire. Chris mentioned that Lego Manchester was partially melted, so, unless he didn't keep that in his room, it seems that the blaze went through it. (I have been meaning to look at the diagrams of 14BC, but I've been very busy today and have not yet had an opportunity to do so.)

He may not be able to sell his drawings now, but if SOMEhow his videos end up at an international art fair I could see them getting popular, resulting in even more people analyzing them. That would be fun, but this is Chris :C

He doesn't sell his art because now he can't. There. End of thread.

Well, he can't sell the originals anymore now most likely. But when I mention art, I meant commissions. Regardless of what else said I really think people would buy some, if he'd sign them and actually do them. I would once just because. It really is a lo of stress though, and I can't see him managing it himself without someone pushing him and organizing everything for him, not that he'd ever want to in the first place.

He had enough trouble drawing what was in his own fucked up head with the ability of a six year old (and not even a very talented six year old at that). You expect him to able to draw what's in other people's heads? On command?

This question really has been answered to death. He can't sell his originals. He's not clever or mentally sane enough to do commissions, and no one would buy them anyway.

The reason why people would buy his art at all is because he's Chris and because he draws like shit. No one would come in expecting anything otherwise.

And yes, you're pretty much saying the same thing I am - he's too stupid and unmotivated to ever do commissions. He can't even do his own art in time. The difference is that I think there's SOME market for his shit, if only to say, yes, I have an ugly crayon drawing from an Internet retard.
