Why doesn't Chris sell his art?

I don't think Chris actually knows how to sell his work. From what I've read on the CWCki, Chris probably thinks that he would earn money for his art when some company hired him. I doubt Chris realizes he can sell via Craigslist or Ebay, or hell, even Deviantart has a sell print feature.

Yep. In every saga, Chris always gives the impression that he never even considered the ideas when trolls suggested that there are actually productive things he could do to improve himself and his life. Everyone keeps giving him good ideas, but he's always silently going like "I didn't even think of that" - and I doubt he will remember it two minutes later.

Selling his art is just one of those things that never occurred to him. That'd require too much thinking outside of the box.

And as far as selling digital copies or prints through other services goes, Chris is probably aware of them but immediately thought they were too much hassle. And things that he dismisses as too much work are also out of his mind forever.

Even though he is pretty much "washed up" in terms of his Internet notoriety it was hypothesized in another thread that he might do decent in the convention scene; that's where voice actors go when they have little to no traditional VO work to do anymore. They get a table, some lithographs of the character(s) they voiced, and sell autographs for $15 a whack. Chris is past his prime online and I feel that his lingering notoriety -- especially in the anime/furry/otaku/gaming communities catered to by conventions -- would at least get him some extra coin. Even people who forgot about him would see "Attending Guests: blah, blah, Christian Weston Chandler, blah" and immediately go "holy shit I remember that guy".

How much would it cost for Chris to get a booth at an anime convention in Virginia? That would actually be a good idea for him if he needs some extra income besides his . It would be great if Chris put on his classic outfit with the and cut his hair short again and showed up at the convention liked that.

Dealer's room booths at conventions run several hundred dollars and vary depending on the size of the con. Most conventions also have a considerably cheaper "artist alley" situation available for independent artists and artisans to sell their wares. They do not get as much exposure, though. I would imagine with a proper agent Chris could get himself in as a legitimate guest at a moderately-sized convention; guests sometimes get a special hybridization of the artist alley/dealer room where they are separate from other vendors so they can sign autographs, take pictures with fans, and sell their works all at the same time. The agent thing is important for the reasons Herebedragons said above: Chris is bad at behaving in a highly social environment. He would need his agent to double as a sitter of sorts to advise him on how to act and handle people.

Also, think about how much he'd ask for it. A shitty tv was 250, a box of DVDs he mostly got for free was 1000, could you even imagine how much he'd ask for something hand drawn? Let's say 200 for something original on a shitty 8x10. Ok, now he's got the buyers attention...the ORIGINAL Sonichu #0. How much is that worth? Sure, some trolls might pool together maybe a couple hundred bucks, but Chris will ask for something in the penta-digits. Chris also isn't smart enough to realize that "some money is better than no money" or "take the deal before it's too late", he'd hoard his art thinking some day, someone will be willing to pay his price.

The fact that Chris is attempting to sell his DVDs for $1000 would lead to him selling hand drawn originals for much more because of how stressful and time consuming drawing can be. Especially due to the fact it takes time away from important vidya game playing. Plus there is no HAGGLING for lowering the price of such artwork.
