I'm fine with forums, though I generally use them for information or buying purposes. What irritates me more than anything is that it seems like any forum that is 75%+ males (as in most all of them) has a legion of members who are the eternally mopey, pussy crazy 14 year old boys who become butt kissing lovesick puppies as soon as a girl shows up. Seriously, it is sickening to see how some people react to Internet girls. They instantly become the queen of wherever they post, despite being at best average quality posters. I really am tempted to set up a fake girl account on a video forum just to compare success versus my male account.

Also, why does it seem that most every female feels the need to either 1.have gurl/gal/girl/cutie/ihaveapussy as part of their username 2.have a very girly avatar 3.mention for no reason in their introductory post that "HAY GAIL I'm a girl!" 4.have some flirty comment somewhere in their sig or profile….? Or even do every single one of these things?

We've banned a ton of girls here for being attention whores

wheatpasta is a girl and her avatar was of a guy from Treasure Planet. Meanwhile Altissimo admitted to being a girl to a wizard who came on here, and he immediately acted far nicer to her than he did to the rest of us.

Hypocrisy seems to come with the title it seems.

I HATE the groupthink, the false niceness, the constant fear of censorship, etc.

I've been banned from every site, IRC, game server, etc. I've ever been on because I'm not willing to pretend to be nice and shit.

I'm real-talk 24/7, no bullshit, pure emotion, I tell people what I think and the result is everyone hates me and thinks I'm disturbed.

Being nice to people is called courtesy. It's also referred to as "tact". It means treating a person how you wish to be treated. Believe it or not, most people who talk to you probably don't enjoy talking to you. They treat you how they want to be treated. It is not "putting on a mask" and it is not "dishonest". It is simply acting in such a way that someone else might feel motivated to act the same. Being censored for being an asshole is universal everywhere, and if you are unwilling to adapt to your surroundings you shouldn't be surprised you keep getting banned.

The society we live in could not exist without courtesy.

Fuck wearing a mask though I'm a genuine person not a fake.

If everyone spoke their minds there'd be a fuckload of drama at first but I think after awhile people would accept their own feelings and thoughts, realize how twisted everybody is, and then just get over it.

No we'd start judging each other and get into fights, and continue to do so til people realize they can be courteous with each other. Children realize this pretty early on and develop social skills. At least they do unless they stay locked in their rooms all day during their formative years.

And they let themselves go to waste because they feel like there is no light at the end of a long tunnel, and if there isn't then why bother? Oh yeah, I know how depression is. I spent about two years like that and there were times when I spent weeks not getting up or showering or changing my clothes and having to be reminded to eat.

I'd feel sorry for them, but, just like the lovely Chris, they seem like such crappy people that it's hard to muster a single molecule of sympathy. It's always possible they're just venting anonymously while at their absolute worst and are otherwise not such bad people, but it doesn't seem especially likely. There's a bit too much horrible there for there to be room for much to balance it out.

To them doing any of those things is as monumental as running a marathon, or climbing a mountain. These are people who have no confidence in themselves, and who let fear run their lives. To the point where some are too afraid to order food at a restaurant.

I've linked threads from this site where Wizards talk about how they've encouraged their parents to give up on thinking they'll ever get jobs, or go back to school. And being congratulated by other people on the site about it. And how they can get "autism-bux" so they don't ever have to work. If that's the sort of person you're dealing with, does it come as a surprise that they don't go outside or interact with others?

I'm sure these people would love to do something with their lives. The fact of the matter is, left of their own devices they won't. Many won't no matter how much we encourage them.

forcing yourself to adhere to a minimum (cooking right, eating right, showering on a regular basis like clockwork, forcing yourself to do routine chores of various types) is a million times better than being depressed the way these guys are. Staving off depression takes effort.

If some of them would just even accept the fact that they're not getting laid, ever, that would still take something off their minds and that would make them just a bit less depressed. Really, it absolutely would. It would free them a bit.

Their hosts need to put the wizards' feet to the fire, assuming they're living with their parents. Enforce some minimum of showering. But it's not like any parents of wizards are reading this, so.

I don't know that' I'd go so far as to say they enjoy their misery, but I do think wallowing in it is a source of comfort for them, in an odd way. If you can really commit to the idea that you're worthless and there's nothing that can be done about it, it takes all the pressure off of you to try and better yourself. The barriers, to them, are insurmountable, and therefore they can't reasonably be blamed for not overcoming them. Otherwise, they're just wasting their lives whining on a message board.

A good number of Wizardchan's users likely have some mental issues that complicate their lives, but the main thing that hampers them is their inability to entertain the notion that they have some control over their destinies. Even if total free will is nothing but a delusion, it's a far more admirable one than the complete absence of individual autonomy they currently hold.
