AlphaOmegaSin once called Phil a "rage-quitter" and Phil's mind went right to the fighting game context, which is indeed not a thing with him. For all his embarrassing behavior in fighting games, Phil has never RQ a match, that I know of.
However, because of that, it explains why Phil went right to that form of "debunking", because there, he had a point. He knows he doesn't when it comes to other genres because, as you noted, he then comes up with alternative excuses based on the game. He left that part out in responding to AOS, and it's obvious why: AOS is smart enough to see through the bullshit excuses Phil gives when he drops a game. We know this because AOS wasn't talking about fighting games, he was referring to all the others that Phil quits.
Phil knows he's a rage-quitter, he gives this away by getting tilted over being called one. Which is why LTG is more based than him, because he owns the shit. Though he makes excuses, he doesn't lack the ability to admit to what he does in response to "stupid developers" or whatever. He considers RQs to be justified, and I can almost respect that he handles the criticism so much better than Phil ever has or ever will.
