World of Warcraft

The fags who are the only ones left who play Blizzard products would be horrified. In posts where people suggest new models, troons come in shouting that they prefer the race to look as asexual as possible. How the males/females use the exact same model, and they look like scalie porn twinks. And even critics of the current form, all agree whenever people go "Guyth can we at least all agree that its good these REPTILES dont have BOOBS?"
I mean yeah, they're bad enough as is, the ERP community spending their lives in Goldshire would acquire too much power if they were ever given lizards with tits.

Thinking about the announcement as a whole, besides scalies it wasn't so bad. No new systems yet, and it looks like they're pulling back from super epic storylines with how much they hammered home the point that "we're back on Azeroth you guys!!"

Talents look really cool mostly because they seem like something they can actually build on for the future, so yeah. It feels to me like they're trying to say ok guys, Azerite power/armor was crap, covenants were crap, we get it so we're hunkering down and we're revamping the core systems that actually make up the game. That's a good direction to take, so credit where it's due.

I've seen some complaints about it being a filler expansion, but after BFA and Shadowlands I don't think it would be a bad thing.

And now we wait to see in what extravagant ways they're gonna fuck things up.

The problem wasn’t that the storylines were big in scope cosmic shit. It’s that they were badly written big in scope cosmic shit, so don’t expect a return to form to be good. BFA was supposed to be a break from cosmic shit to focus on the faction war and they still blasted through two expansions worth of things.

The talent trees look shit so far, as they have taken away from your core kit so you can have the abilities back from the tree. What I’d expect from a system that exists solely so they can say “member vanilla”.

I knew the models looked familiar...

As a completionist and collector I am liking their comment about making white and gray items transmogable. There were some really unique looks that were grey/white items.
It makes me sad because not even too long ago I would've killed for stupid little positive changes like this because I'm honestly a sucker for the RP oriented parts of the game as tardy as they may be, but it feels a little too late now. I remember at the start of BFA practically begging Blizz to give void elves normal hair and skin colors so I can at least pretend I'm playing high elf, wishing there were more transmogable quivers than the existing artifact bows, hell I even participated in some fan concepts for a dragonflight playable race. Now almost 4 years later of not giving a damn about the game, I find out all these things are in the game/coming to the game and my reaction is "whatever."

Anyway... unreal levels of copium

If anything, this explains so much for the twink design, scrolling through her twitter and you'll see these.

The Drathyr design is definitely rushed and/or WoW engine being dated. Because, she actually has decent works on her artstation page.

Also, it's almost end of April, who is soooooo hyped for WoW mobile?

The incubus model is actually rather good and would have worked as a better base for the dragons than the bullshit they put out. Better physique and the wings actually look good instead of the homosexual tiny ones the dragons have.

Well, when your artists won't do any work and you can't fire them because they're all diversity hires it's time to just buy assets. Those also look better than the WoW dragon people.

It is possible the dragons are not set in stone yet. Kul'tiran's when the first came out in early beta bfa were not their own model but were the kultiran texture stretched over pandarean frames.

See, now I want a race of Pandas just wearing human skin as a suit and pretending nothing is amiss, and if you point it out the NPCs will attack you because for some unknown reason you have to humor the skin suit pandas. It could be some amusing allegory for troons.

All I see with the new OC Donut Steel dragon race is typical monkey's paw'ing from western developers: yes, we're giving you something you asked for, but it's going to be lame because reasons. WoW really is circling the drain if this is the absolute state of their "art".

ThunderBrush, one of the lead designers for Paladins, which was Hi-Rez's answer to Overwatch, posted this anatomy redesign suggestions for the new EP race. Seeing Blizzard get dunked by Hi-Rez is quite funny to see.
Looks slender but strong. Like it.

Any Kiwi still playing on vanilla private servers? Been trying to get into some because I've been feeling oddly nostalgic for WoW. Should I stick to VanillaPlus or should I give Elysium a try?
Vanilla+ got a decent server, people there are half-based and the new system is refreshing. The only issue is that they are half-and-half tightening the noose and argue about changes 24/7

It's funny that somehow, the Battlefield community realized and broke this drone-like behavior, after Battlefield 2042 came out. Yet, this is still happening with Blizzard games, and some in The Sims community still think this too.
Sims I can somewhat understand considering there’s no real competition for it, but the WoW circlejerk is so bizarre, just go fucking play Elden Ring or FFXIV if you’re itching for an mmorpg that bad. I get that for many people there’s the emotional connection that naturally comes with playing the game for many years and/or from a young age, but you get over that shit eventually.

Genuinely based and I would be very tempted if they at all did fucking anything about gold buying and boosting. When Wrath first dropped all the way up until that tool came out, it was such a good time.

A few months back I briefly rolled a dude on the Warmane private server and was having a good time... right up until I realized I could just hit a button, teleport halfway across the world to a dungeon with randos, and that was going to be effectively the only way to level from that point onwards. I had wondered why for having such a big active population, there were so few people in the world.
except dungeon finder was never the problem, as much as people whine about it. it was merely a symptom, not the cause.

by the time dungeon finder came out (december 2009), people were well aware that dungeons were nothing more than a timesink to grind for loot and emblems, so efficiency was king because everybody just wanted to get the daily chore done, the whole GOGOGO mentality you mentioned earlier didn't suddenly appear after people could run dungeons with randoms and the click of a button.
no one in LK ran dungeons for the "challenge" or to "socialize". the former people got out of raids because that was blizzard pushed as the real endgame, and people mostly talked outside the game at that point (the internet of 2009 was quite a different place than the one from vanilla in 2004).
almost everything people attribute to dungeonfinder (and LFR to an extend) already was part of the game beforehand, and removing it won't change anything besides making people bitch and moan. the few casuals in the game won't sit in the capitol spamming chat to find a group, most of the time they can't even be arsed to write a entry in the PF. the people with established guilds and friendslist never really needed the dungeon finder in the first place.

don't get me wrong, but at this point it's like "have you tried not playing dnd WoW? other games never really had that issue to that degree, if at all. so instead of trying to find it in a game which developed in a direction which doesn't really support that anymore, and thus attracted that kind of playerbase, why not pick one which actually does?

The best middleground would be for them to enable you to just search for parties on your own server. Offer up the convenience, but don't completely kill the sense of community. At the very least, let there be a battlegroup/server toggle - but that'd require effort, so fat chance.
and no one will use it. ask yourself, if you're looking for a group at 3 am on a server with a faction population of <10%, would your rather wait forever till you fall asleep or increases your chances of something happening by increasing the pool of potential groupmembers? because that was the main reason people used it: queue times, not "grand adventures in an instance with likeminded people".
if you want to blame anyone blame blizzard themselves, because if the only option is this or shelling out 20 bucks per char to find a non-dead server (or start from scratch), guess what people rather pick. all because blizzard is still too arrogant to actually merge servers which is a clear sign the population is declining.
also lol @ community, just because you remove it the game won't suddenly go it's boomer mmo roots. one look how people play classic should tell you enough, that ship has sailed ages ago. ffs it's like people forgot cata already tried all that with dungeons suddenly being "hard" again after everyone whined for it and requiring coordination and communication - and how long did that last?

I never have understood the argument that Dungeon Finder was the Great Satan and responsible for all ills. All it did was streamline one of the literally 25 dailies (until you got all your grinds done and could condense it into like, 10) you had to do in WotLK into taking 15 minutes instead of an hour finding all 4 other bodies on a medium pop server only to have some fag back out at the last second and having to rebuild the entire team. I didn't fucking socialize with randos in my dungeons before or after dungeon finder and I didn't see anyone around me using in game chat for anything but mild to severe shit talking either.
