Worst RPG members ever

All npc's that can join your party in Temple of Elemental Evil. All of them are pretty much gold diggers, taking all the loot from you.

All EE companions of Baldur's gate enhanced edition.

Starting around dragon age origins, is when bioware companions really started grating my nerves. Obsidian companions I consider the same.

Sharla from Xenoblade chronicles
If your team needs a dedicated healer than you are already fucked. Your teams should be killing stuff way faster than they kill you.
Its a shame as well because you need her on your team to raise her affinity with characters.
Also the grave robbers in Darkest dungeon were pretty shit, replace em with a highwayman and your team was better immediately

Fallout New Vegas: Veronica, never used her ever in my playthroughs she's super annoying.
Dragon Age Origins: Morrigan (mage mommy is more interesting and down to earth though she'll turn on you if you make a bad decision)
Divinity Original Sin 2: Sebille, I don't need a sociopathic edgy bitch fucking up my playthrough because she kills anything that moves. Seriously, my pyromancer got screwed because she killed an NPC that sold pyro spells.
Mass Effect: Jack, very annoying and ugly. Ashley, unless you have high paragon or renegade, she kills Wrex.

Valkyria Chronicles 1: Lancers
Slow as fuck, barely any movement, innacurate as fuck at range, inability to give covering fire and the bazooka itself is useless against infantry.
It solely exists to kill tanks and the occasional turret. Except it takes several shots to kill, and you might still miss. The only way to get an instakill is flank the tank and pointblank the radiator. By the time you've flanked the tank, you've been shredded by the tanks MGs or the Shocktroopers hiding nearby. Smoke Grenades stop that but require you to move a tank first. The Edelweiss handles tanks fine on its own, with the cannon being more accurate for radiator sniping. You can use Orders to get a Scout or Shocktrooper to run round a tank and unload in the radiator to get a kill, then safely retreat
I literally only deploy Largo to get that extra CP

Pillars of Eternity's companions are generally OK, though there's a couple of exceptions:

-Grieving Mother. She's so, like, deep? And mysterious? And annoying? And fucking useless in a fight?
-Kana. I had to look up his name because I'd erased it from my mind - the useless chanter with the pointy teeth. He's a Magical Negro stereotype, all noble savage wisdom and shit, and the PC's dialogue choices with him all add up to "tell us all about your noble yet wild culture, non-specifically ethnic man who I can learn so much from." Ugh. And as for how good he is mechanically, I would sooner go into battle armed with Helen Keller.

Mallow and Bowser
Mallow is subpar but Bowser is a ridiculously strong party member in endgame. My endgame party was Bowser, Peach and Mario.

Quayle from Baldur's Gate is horrible, as is Tiax. Myron from Fallout 2 has exactly ONE valid purpose and is otherwise garbage. Valerie from Pathfinder Kingmaker can be turned into something moderately useful (allegedly) but her default setup SUCKS.

I don't use Scouts other than Alicia. They're too fragile and don't deal enough damage. I tend to lean on shocktroopers.

Rosie is an obnoxious Mary Sue IMO, but she's good at slaying bodies, so I tend to send her on lone Audie Murphy missions.

The only JRPG where I used every party member equally and they were all equally good is Chrono Trigger.
Magus ain't great tbh, even with his access to Shadow magic. Ayla has one real good use (and it's a pretty good use) and it's charming enemies for rare equipment and stuff. Most of the Double Techs that Ayla gets access to are nothing great and both her and Magus have their only Triple Techs (at least I think, in Ayla's case) tied up with those special stones. Robo's insanely good though. Frog gets REALLY good after getting the second Masamune, though his biggest Tech is unimpressive.

I haven’t even played any of the Persona games, but this fucker needs to die. He’s irritating as fuck.

Goddam Marumaro from Blue Dragon. Imagine Scrappy-Doo with the voice of Ash Ketchum doing a bad Vince Mcmahon impression.

Gau can also use the Rafflesia rage (GBA version, I forgot what it was called on the SNES/PS1 versions) to charm most (all?) bosses!
Even without Wind God Mode, learning a few good rages and giving him one of the auto haste relics turns him into a really powerful party member, since Rages = Berserk and will subvert the turn order, Umaro and Mog are the same way, with the 3 of them hasted you can get an absurd amount of actions compared to most enemies, and eventually just drown most bosses boss out in the sheer weight of actions taken.

When I play a brand new game, when Melchoir offers the choice between a prism dress or three prism helms I choose helms, then equip them on the party I'll use in the Black Omen, 1000 AD (it includes Ayla). Then during the battle with Queen Zeal I use charm on her left and right hands to steal another prism helm and a prism dress. Then I repeat this twice more in 600 AD and 12000 BC to get enough prism helms and dresses for everyone in the first New Game+ without having to play multiple New Game+.

Water element gets really screwed out of any powerful attacks, unfortunately, since it's meant for healing and cleansing and not attacking. Crono is the one who winds up with the equivalent of Holy.

Pi from .Hack GU. Her voice gives me a headache outside of cutscenes. Only use her when I have to. Sadly, she's a major character. Endurance's weird virtual crush on Haseo is more bearable. Congratulations, Pi. The agoraphobic neet's less annoying.
