Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

Oh wow, the Indiana Jones game just dropped today. That was fast. Unless it's people from other countries playing it early. I think it's open world.

Game looks alright to me. I go by steam and Xbox reviews not YouTubers.
Most of the people hating on it are PlayStation fans who have never seen a single Indiana Jones movie in their life.

Reactions: The Last Stand
It's ultimate escapism for nerds and weaklings. A character like that will always be popular when the media is run by leftist types.

My god, I didn't realise the Indy game was being made by these guys! They had a solid hit with the Wolfenstein remake remake. Outstanding gameplay, decent story, and it's like they made a solid effort to destroy that franchise totally and utterly. Sad.

The problem is what happened to most franchises, its devs werent able to resist inserting their politics and really making the nazis as cartoonishly evil as possible but in a way thats obviously meant to make a statement and not self aware in the slightest. It suffers from an identity crisis as you arent sure if we are suppose to take this all grounded and seriously or exaggerated and over the top.

Doesnt help that BJ got demasculated and brought down just to elevate the diverse newcomers, a classic move. Also the plot of Colossus was kind of trash that legit made people unironically root for the nazis because our main characters were either annoying, unlikable or both.

Young Blood was a shitshow that argurably killed the series (and I see nothing short of ANOTHER reboot being able to bring it back) featuring Bj's twin daughters who are just extremely obnoxious and show that millenial writers cant write something engaging or/and funny to save themselves.
Then they made the mistake of admitting that you'll be playing the female sidekick for part of the game. They know this will be extremely unpopular, especially following the last film. I have the sneaking suspicion this is what the review embargo is actually about.

I wonder if that decision was made before or after Dial of Destiny's leaks being extremely negatively received (apparently at one point, they would unironically kill young Indy and erase old Indy and leave the chick as the new "indiana").

Surely after the also very negatively received release of D.o.D they would have realize that people dont want a female sidekick, even more one that tries to upstage the fucking main character.

So the question is if they went with this under the delusional belief it wouldnt backfire or they know it will and they legit dont care?

Either way, I unironically am starting to want Machine Games to shut down out of spite.
Look at this no game indy collector edition, fucking hell 🤣

Who the fuck gives a shit about Indiana Jones in the 2020s?

Indiana Jones feels like such a Gen X thing at this point. I was born in 89 and even I don't really have much nostalgia for it anymore. There's no way todays gaming demographic gives a shit about Indiana Jones, right? Especially after Crystal Coconut and Dial of Destiny?

Indiana Jones was an 80's nostalgia fest of pulp comics and tv serials from the 40-50's. Adults grew up with those and teens at least were somewhat familiar with their existence.

Millenials onwards had no experience with any of those and thus dont have much of an attachment to the source material Indy is based off. Now, to be fair, Indy does stand on his own two legs and he is an icon of the traditional white adventurer exploring forgotten ruins and defeating the bad guys. A very classical hero. Even if you arent as engaged as people were back then, at least you can respect what he stands for.

But the problems begin when, culturally, people dont give a shit about the classical hero and do whatever possible to destroy him.
Can I have SOMETHING?

No

They hate you and they live for making us all miserable and devoided of heroes so we are all emotionally and morally hollow

And they find it hilarious.

I've never seen an Indiana Jones film, but I'm curious of the game since it's on Game Pass.

This guy, who is evidently an Indiana Jones fan, is fond of the game. Take that what you will.

Why is it even first person? I want to see Indy.
MachineGames' expertise is first person.

"But in my mind, what we're asking the player to do in our game is really to step into the shoes of the world's most famous archaeologist.

"And we strongly believe that the first-person perspective is what makes this experience the most immersive; it allows the player to focus on the adventure, to feel like they are Indy, interacting with the world around them.

"And also, since first-person games are very much part of our pedigree here at MachineGames, it felt like a natural approach for our take on Indy, and the feature that will set it apart from from many other action adventure games out there. And I think, you know, it is something that brings something really unique to this game."

That's valid for me.

The plot of the first one was also retarded in the extreme.

Germans won the war because they managed to get their hands on the cache of Jewish super technology - that the Jews had created over thousands of years. The really funny part is that the Jews never shared any of these advancements, that could have saved billions of years over the centuries, because their faith didn't allow them to, and when the wheelchair-bound woman calls one of those Jews out on it, she is quickly shut up and the issue is never brought up again.

Also, the Jews refused to share the same technology with the Allies until it was too late. Plus, the Jews are busy sabotaging German super-concrete production, which will lead to millions of civilian casualties, but they're the good guys, okay?

Let's not forget that BJ's love interest is a serial killer that slept with German soldiers to put them at ease before killing them, and routinely aborted their babies.

Gotta also love how they don't give BJ the Jewish power armor when they send him to assault the German fortress just so the crippled woman can have her girlboss moment and rescue BJ.

What I'm trying to say is that both TNO and TNC are awful games with equally awful plots, laced with the disgusting political views of the developers.

MachineGames made only one good game: Wolfenstein The Old Blood. The rest is Tarantino slop.

Well it’s a reason Xbox games are going multi-platform now.
why the fuck did they think to do "day-one" releases? they were way better off just letting everyone have the back catalog, the fact you could get 3 years of game pass for the price of one new game just made people see their new releases as worse. same way letting new movies on streaming sites 5 weeks after release just meant people stop bothering to go to theaters. if its 2 weeks old you might as well wait for it to show up on some service you pay for.
