the consolification of the Doom franchise has been an unqualified disaster. Eternal leaning hard into every terrible AAA trope is not a mistake or coincidence. Doom 2016 showed all the same signs - did you forget the unskippable first-person cutscenes and walking dialogue sequences? I wish id would just fucking die already, nothing triggers me more than seeing people talking about the new Doom games like they share any DNA with the shit from the 90s. this Overton window shit is real, in 10 years Doom is gonna be tranny doomgirl ripping and tearing all the straight white cis male demons with quicktime events to universal acclaim, while a small group of oldfags lament the franchise's departure from its roots as an awful mish-mash of Halo, Call of Duty, and the Doom comic
 
I have some pretty strong doubts that Fallout 3 would be a decent remake on the same vein as Dead Space and the RE ones. The closest Bethesda has come to such remakes has been the endless Skyrim ports they have done, and outside of the Special Edition which came with bundled DLC and the updates to the Creation Engine so it was native 64 bit and a few updates I don't really expect much.

However we will see if they go full Rockstar with Fallout 3, that would be one hell of a fall from grace. Game was plenty janky back in the day but was very fun, destroying that would be pretty much ritual suicide. I do wonder how exactly they would comply with current year ESG and DEI mandates with in-built slavery in the game though...

Don't forget that the first two Fallout games plus Tactics and other spinoffs not made by Bethesda are way too different for Bethesda's current fanbase as is so remaking them will make the bughtesda niggercattle mad over it being similar in gameplay to what the originals were if they did stick to that or make the remaining fallout fans of the original games sigh if it turns out they'd remake it to be far more like FO4 or Starfield, not to mention how many things that the classic Fallout games have that would really make the ESG money a lot harder to keep.
 
Even though it might not happen, I’m really glad there’s talks for Microsoft to buy out Nintendo.

Iwata’s death and it’s consequences are have been a disaster for Nintendo.
The company has only been extremely disappointing in terms of their hardware development and corporate practices. The Switch has been around for 6 years with no sign of Nintendo creating new hardware. If there’s no idea guys in Nintendo’s hardware division, then Nintendo should just become a 3rd party developer.
 
Please god, let pajeetsoft enter talks into buying a stake at nintendo, ala tencent with everything. If anything, because it would be so fucking funny.

The Switch has more in common with the DS than with the other two modern consoles by Sony and Microsoft, so it'll probably be in the market without a significant upgrade for as long as the original DS was. It'll also outsell everything else that comes before and after it over its lifetime despite competing with stronger consoles, like the DS.
 
Real talk, how the fuck are they going to remaster Fallout 3? Made custom HD textures? Modders have been doing this for the past decade for FREE.... Transplant the entire game onto F4 engine? Lol, fuck no, that would require some effort, which is why i'm pretty positive there is already a modding group, working on this project as we speak, also for FREE..... I want to say it's crazy but i'm pretty sure all this consumer cattle would love nothing more, then the possibility to play the same shit on modern consoles, in (maybe) 60 FPS and with "better" graphics, paying the full price again (i can easily imagine console version priced at 60-70 eddies)

I'm sure they'll do HD textures and make the client natively able to use more than 4gb of RAM so that the game can decompress and process the new textures faster, which might help with making load times faster. I don't really see them making it feel or play like later Bethesda games, you probably won't even see a sprint button that isn't modded in.

If Starfield's launch is any indication they won't even include really basic features that are standard for any other company. Might not even get borderless windowed as an option. It'll just be a pile of fucking shit, basically.

There was a leak from a few months ago about Virtuos working on an Oblivion remaster using Unreal 5. The reddit post about it was pretty dumb so a lot of people called it fake

The guy that wrote this did an awful job explaining how it was UE5, but we might be looking at another GTA definitive edition situation, with the source code being loaded into Unreal by an outsourced company. I can't feasibly see Bethesda's engine working in the slightest with this, and Oblivion relies on a bunch of middleware like FaceGen, Speedtree (ancient version) and Havok physics (also ancient). The amount of work to update Oblivion would probably just be better to remake it, I assume the same can be applied to Fallout 3, although it doesn't rely on Speedtree as much.

I will never understand this personality cult towards a bunch of Nintendo employees and people disappointed by their own delusions of a company being their best friend somehow.

And there aren't many entertaining games (which are mainly japanese and indies these days) that actually do make use of a stronger hardware than the Switch and PS4, the latter is almost a decade old. The jumps between generations have noticeably gotten smaller and smaller, not to mention high graphic fidelity has often proved itself to be a liability in development and not a gauge for game quality.
 
I don't trust the team that made the laughably bad fallout games F4 and F76 to remaster F3.

Just give the franchise to Obsidian and let Bethesda take outer worlds. Seems as starfield is dollar-store outer worlds.

I don't have any confidence that Obsidian would make another New Vegas-tier game if they got the IP again. Avellone might be given way too much credit a little too often but not having him on the team would definitely detract given that he was the lead designer. The last thing they made that I enjoyed was Pillars of Eternity, it's been downhill since then.

I don’t know whose been lying to you but Outer Worlds is so much more of a piece of shit than anything BGS has done. Outer Worlds is basically playing a game in the Rick and Morty Universe but with no actual player choice that matters. Hate the characters in modern Beth games? 1000% worse in Outer Worlds.

Obsidian has long since lost the people that made the games you like and the few that are still there are either unable to do anything or are just as responsible. If you don’t believe me actually play Outer Worlds instead of listening to the retards in the Beth thread that game is fucking horrible.

He literally made a money printing machine that hasn't significantly changed in decades. He's either a genius, lazy, or his management is constantly gridlocked. It's one of the few companies who's main product hasn't gone to shit due to management meddling since 2007. The only one there who has anything left to his name is Josh Sawyer, and according to him he had no involvement in Outer Worlds and won't have anything to do with OW2 or Avowed (Obsidian's attempts to make their own Skyrim) because he's working on his own pet project. You can expect both of those games to be as vapid and forgettable as Outer Worlds.
