Truthfully I don’t know maybe a Slav game studio? Idk the top Kiwi Autists will have to come together and give us the perfect developers lol.

I really think a streaming console is a really bad idea so hopefully that will just be a part of it and not the whole experience of the thing. I just can’t see how it would work in most places on the Earth. I think maybe Japan has good enough internet where it could work but they aren’t going to buy a Microsoft machine anyway lol. I just don’t understand the thinking behind this especially with the failure of Stadia not that long ago. Though I’ll say that their streaming isn’t shit and I don’t hate the idea of streaming as long as you can still own the media but this just feels like another push at what they were trying with the Xbox One. You have to be 100% online, you don’t own the content so you can’t share it unless they allow you to and no disc drive. I just really can’t understand who thinks this works and doesn’t just destroy the brand.
Microsoft's only market for xbox is america and the UK. The UK has very good internet with no caps, so it would sell well here. The push for streaming has already started and the marketing is in full spin like it was with digital:

"You don't want loads of games hanging around do you? go digital"

is now

"You don't want to wait hours for an install do you? Go streaming"

It's all so predictable and tiresome. Yet the niggercattle will consooom product just like they're told with zero chance of owning a streaming game, you don't even own your digital games.

It should really be renamed the Xcan.
Xbox works because it is an ex-box.

It’s an obvious thing to say, but I don’t want one company to own all video games. Especially a company known for buying companies and doing NOTHING with them.

Microsoft must really want that Japan money.

"Our next big game launch is Redfall"
Redfall LOL. Imagine waiting a year and a half for Redfall.

Microsoft has had some serious security incidents recently. Phil must be sweating about leaking upcoming product releases. At any company those are treated as highly confidential.

Can we say for certain that Microsoft's attempted acquisition of Activision is more about creating a monopoly and Phil trying to save his job than about it being a good business deal?

A monopoly on what? In the console space Activision makes one fucking game per year. And while they are a huge PC presence its not like they are dominant or anything.

the only reason i bought a Xbox sex or whatever it's called is because the damn bluray players are such crap now adays that to get something halfway decent you're paying xbox prices anyway
Hilariously, the xbox one series x can still play audio cds where as the ps4/ps5 only go far back as dvds. I kinda like that tbh

It's not just Activision. It's all their prior acquisitions - ZeniMax, Mojang, discount indie developers like Obsidian and inXile - and using Gamepass to signal to developers "Look, you can try to sell your game for $60, but we've got a similar enough game for free and our subscribers will play that instead, so good luck with that."

Getting rid of the optical drive isn't about pushing people to buy electronic copies of games. It's about them not owning any game and liking it.

Why the fuck would SONY be to0 damn cheap to make it play CDs? They own music! I guess they don't want you 2 CDs.

I'll admit i'd probably have grabbed a gaystation if it had been in stock, but it was the middle of covid and I had to bounce and make sure there was a bluray player in the house or the kids would go batshit, and I didn't know enough about the console wars to know how badly xbox was getting trounced.

I just want to know what Doom Year Zero is, Eternal ended in a pretty good way, and I don't know if they can continue that without screwing it up. Add the lack of Mick Gordon and I'm not sure if it'll go well. And I really hope it's not a prequel, I'm sick of prequels.

Microsoft must really want that Japan money.
It's mostly because Sony ditched the Japanese market for the Western market when they closed down a prominent number of Japanese studios like Japan Studio and moved their gaming division to California, leaving a massive vacuum in the Japanese market that Square, Nintendo, and Tencent wanted to fill up, and Microsoft wants to take a piece of that cake.

Nintendo has sold 400 million+ consoles since the last time Microsoft tried to buy them. They've sold 6x more consoles this generation than Microsoft. They are better off trying to buy Apple.
Microsoft doesn't seem to quite understand that Nintendo doesn't really/technically make home consoles - they make portable consoles that can be played at home.

Not sure why Phil Spencer thinks their future isn't in hardware when they've been the 100% uncontested king of the Portable/Handheld Gaming space for nearly 40 years with 0 sign of slowing down and Sony/MS not even trying to contest them ever again.

Added some info about their streaming service XCloud (Xbox Cloud Gaming) to the OP. Appears to be another failure.
That's pretty strange actually. I remember it was rolled into Game Pass and people seemed to like it a lot, especially compared to Stadia.

Cloud gaming is the worst trend to come up lately, tied with gacha games, in the sea of shit known as gaming in 2010+.

Phill Spenser always comes across as one of the most unlikeable and fakest CEOs in the industry. He’s been putting on this pro consumer down to earth act on for years with hyping up stuff like Cross play. Anyone else remember when he revealed what his true motivations for that were?

Times like this makes me want to remind everyone that CEOs are never your friend and will never be your friend, ever.
