$ (XMR) Monero

Does anyone have an up to date guide on OpSec for Monero? I'm trying to read all I can to approach the concept of an actually anonymous online transaction? I was told mixing and tumbling is pointless or near pointless if you purchased the original XMR from a source that has your actual name attached. I really don't want to meet some pajeet in a back alleyway to exchange cash for crypto, is that really what it takes?

I was pretty sure you could just put the money straight into your wallet, since monero transactions require one of the keys involved in a transaction to determine where the funds went. So they can't know how you spend the monero once its in your wallet. Are you thinking of bitcoin?

I did hear you generally want to host a full node to enjoy the full benefits (that way all transactions go through your computer so there isn't really a way to know which ones are to be associated with yourself). The vanilla XMR wallet app facilitates that.

Anyone feel free to jump in on that but afaik thats all basically correct.

You should be using subaddresses to receive XMR. You should also be buying XMR on a decentralized exchange such as Bisq or through atomic swaps.

Speaking of the Binance drama, has anyone heard from them and the fact they are being mega niggers about it? Their announcement says "we will delist the tokens on Feb 20th and you need to withdraw them until May 20th" but from what I heard literally no one has been able to make any withdraws at all since Feb 20th. The network says it is having "issues" but that seems like a blatant lie due to how Monero and in fact 99% of all crypto works.

I checked some of the sites that monitor trades, and it looks to me like Binance is randomly allowing and disallowing it. Probably them buying up chunks of XMR to allow people to withdraw meaning they had none on hand.

Looks like the fundus weren't safu.

If you give your name/address/selfie (ie, KYC) during a Monero purchase to a centralized exchange, they (and the government) will know that you've purchased a certain amount of XMR at a certain date.

After that purchase, you should pull your XMR to your own wallet, since if some other entity holds the keys to your XMR (ie, the exchange) they can move those XMR without ever asking you for permission (or, bar you from taking them out, even).

Once you get your XMR in your own wallet (featherwallet for example ) you have a pretty good privacy. Monero protocol makes sure that you have no deterministic links between your XMR transactions. The only caveat to that is sending your newly-purchased XMR back to a centralized, KYC-enforcing entity (like another exchange). In which case, these two exchanges (one you bought XMR from, and the one you just sent to) can collude and determine your ID, put the pieces together.

TLDR; your transactions on the blockchain appear pretty much anonymous. Only if you are being tracked by 3-letter-agencies should you bother to look at advanced-opsec techniques on Monero.

upgrades will strengthen further the anonymity and uniformity of transactions on the Monero network. Monero will be the final solution to the taxman question.

Time to buy the dip, or NGMI? Monero's on it's way to the lowest exchange rate since 2020.

If you live in the US then there's no way you'll get Monero anonymously. Even if there was, what would you buy with it? Fentanyl? Nope, banned on Dread. Medicine? Weapons? Nope. VPN? Email? A server? They've got your IP. Not anonymous, and they take cash. Everybody takes cash. Do you know a single person, anywhere, who would take your Monero? What would they exchange it for? Cash?

Monero needs to solve its onboard offboard problem much more than it needs another privacy feature.

Ok... Interesting answer. Well it's obviously anonymous considering the tens of thousands of daily transactions that occur for unlawful goods and services. Dread is a forum not a marketplace and there are a few markets that will sell fentanyl, the majority will sell fentanyl under different names. Yes, nearly all the DNM accept Monero. They will exchange it for goods and services, that's the whole point of currency. I don't think you are familiar with the subject at hand.

can i buy xrm on my visa card? i don't really no anything about magic internet money, except line goes up and this is cheaper than bitcoin

If you're going to buy shit on a Visa card you might just as well buy Bitcoin and under your own name because Uncle Sam is going to know where you got it.

Not true. Much of DNM profits come from scamming. Your comment is fallacious because it assumes that a transaction must be anonymous to be ignored by the government. Not true. You should know that most illegal transactions happen over unencrypted channels and are ignored, not because they are anonymous, but because they aren't worth prosecuting. The government doesn't prosecute crimes, despite having the ability to monitor everyone involved, because it isn't worth the time and money.

Dread is a forum not a marketplace and there are a few markets that will sell fentanyl, the majority will sell fentanyl under different names.

Markets like what (you don't have to answer this)? I don't think anybody you know could find them if they started from the clearnet, as most do, let alone spend Monero to get something anonymously from them. Dread is Reddit for drug users on Tor / I2P, i.e., if it's banned there, then it's impossible to find for the user. Do you disagree? Do you think it's less risky to buy from a DNM and pay Monero or buy from a friend of a friend and pay with something else? You can't admit to certain things but you know the answer.

I just mine it, skill issue

Based in your post history, no amount of screaming "TOUCH GRASS1 GO OUTSIDE!" at you will convince you you're using CPU unproductively. Where do you live that you can mine and spend XMR on things you couldn't get at a better price with cash? The US?

Does this mean you were able to get and spend Monero anonymously? I'd love to know how you were able to get it without a phone number or email address, or mailing cash to a stranger from your address. Does using the internet for transactions make you safer?

can i buy xrm on my visa card? i don't really no anything about magic internet money, except line goes up and this is cheaper than bitcoin

^ what're the odds this person ends up converting his fiat currency to Monero without KYC, spends it on something that isn't drugs or a grift, and does it all more securely than he could've using another medium of exchange?

This is Monero's biggest issue.

If you're going to buy shit on a Visa card you might just as well buy Bitcoin and under your own name because Uncle Sam is going to know where you got it.

You're like Schrodinger's Cat if it was a cybersec expert and a fat retard.

HUH? Scamming is also illegal, what on earth are you talking about? That also does not make sense. Are you serially telling me, the people acquiring tens of millions of dollars in Monero are NOT anonymous and are simply "not worth prosecuting", are you fucking high? Do you even know where the name "Dread" comes from?

Incognito for one, abacus, Kereboros do you serially need me to name others? They will all sell you fent they will just call it something else which I will not name here, about 1/4 of the markets will see raw fent itself. Ok, think about this logically, when you download Tor does it give you a link to DNMs? OR do you have to find them? If they are impossible to find how do you explain them moving millions in profit? I'm honestly convinced I know more about this entire subject than you think you do.

Just deposit currency you never gave a name for into a gambool site that takes both that currency and XMR. Gambool a bit so you don't appear just to be laundering through them, then withdraw via XMR.

Or MINE IT YOURSELF you fucking retard.

As the other dude said, skill issue. How dumb are you? Because you seem extremely dumb and unable to do things normal people are entirely capable of doing.

The US lost billions to FTX and gave SBF a joke sentence. Ross Ulbricht scored about $3B. $10s of millions is 1/150th of what Alex Jones was fined, distributed across multiple dealers and countries. Mexico demands 40B from the US Come back here with big boy numbers, stalker child. I could spend your weight in gold (a HUGE amount) and nobody would care.

OKAY THANKS! WHEN I'M READY TO START GETTING SCAMMED AND DOING DRUGS I'LL BE SURE TO GETMONERO AND LEARN ALL THE SPECIAL NAMES FOR FENT AND NOT JUST BUY IT ON THE STREET! THANK YOU FOR BEING A SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT ON SCAMS AND DRUGS THAT'S SUPER HELPFUL!

Why? Why would I launder money through a gambling website and an autism coin when I can just spend it? Is it because I want to be scammed? Is it because I want drugs? To gamble? What other use case is there? Why not send somebody cash stuffed into a floppy disk?

You do realize the DEA will make an arrest over anything that falls into their jurisdiction? This includes a $500 interstate transaction. You can just google this instead of making yourself look like a retard in front of all of us and save me the time explaining it to you.

I don't believe you have ever purchased narcotics of any kind in person or O/L. You are far to busy arguing with people on the internet to enjoy life.

It's about the principle of privacy, not just getting things cheaper or for illegal purpose, it's literally called the "privacy coin" for a reason. Using Monero to purchase goods and services will more often than not end up costing you more from fees and other shit, people accept that for the tradeoff of privacy because that's the entire reason they want to use it in the first place as their chosen currency.

I'd love to know how you were able to get it without a phone number or email address, or mailing cash to a stranger from your address. Does using the internet for transactions make you safer?
Are you aware that exchanges exist solely for covering that use case?

You totally changed the subject because what you said is it's impossible to get it anonymously. That's just retarded and wrong. Sure you may have no use for XMR, I usually don't use it either. But what you said was just fucking stupid.
