I currently have an iPhone 12. I want to switch over to Android for a few reasons and tried it a few years ago, but a decade of muscle memory made me immediately hate it. If web browsing and YouTube are my main priorities, is there a way I can effectively get “iOS UI with Android functionality” or something close to it?

I'm currently using a Huawei P40 Lite. The reason why I chose this is because they're crazy affordable. Biometrics is on the power button. I can confidently say that this is better designed than the ones I've previously seen. Most phones have to use biometrics at the screen or at the back of the phone. I'm planning to buy an iPhone 13 Mini, since this is a phone that can fit to my Jean pocket and I hate big phones. Battery life might be total shit on the iPhone 13 Mini, but having an actual portable phone that I can carry without bringing a sling bag is definitely gonna be worth it.

Oct 6th the Pixel 7 comes along... coming from an old cheap-ass phone, I look forward to installing GrapheneOS on one of these bad boys.

I plan to preorder the Pixel 7 Pro tomorrow and want to install Graphene OS as well. I've had the Pixel 2 and 4 and liked them both compared to the iToddler 8 or Samsung S series. My Pixel 4 is on its last legs, USB port stopped working and the OtterBox is falling apart. I've had an iToddler 8, Samsung S8 and S20 for work. My only knock against Samsung is all the bloatware they put on top of Android. I have never liked iOS the times I've used it, but CarPlay is better than Android Auto.

Have a fancyish version of a Moto G6, 4gb ram and 64gb rom. Only have a 200gb sd card but I move photos and crap to my desktop or external drives when I think it's getting too full. Haven't had any problems with bloat because I can disable them, uninstall any updates to at least cut back on space taken up. Camera works great, take plenty of cat pics. Next phone is: whatever is affordable and works on amazon or ebay.

Previous phone was a crappy Kyocera Hydro Wave, but at least it was durable and kept working.

Smashed my old phone right before a vacation, had to quickly get a new one. Samsung S20 FE because it was on sale and in my price bracket. First I was a bit miffed that the battery seemed pretty weak, but after realizing that the 120FPS screen mode was turned on by default and the phone in general becoming more "broken in" to some degree, the battery life is now good.
First I thought it didn't have a fingerprint sensor, but it's in the screen, how fancy is that?
Only two negatives so far, you have to decide between dual SIM and an SD card, and it doesn't have a headphone out anymore, you need those silly USB adaptors.

Had a LG V30, switched to a prepaid Samsung A13 Walmart prepaid to try out ATT. I fucking hate the search for a "new" phone, I refuse to pay new prices. Ill see if I can get my number swapped to ATT and slap it in the prepaid. All I want is a nice camera, I dont use my phone for anything else but internet.

I have an S20, still going good after 2 years. Not sure what I'll upgrade to, it's running fine right now. I've been in the Samsung ecosystem since the S7 Edge (good phone tbh) and I like how it works with the Galaxy watch I have. I would like another Note maybe next year or in 2024, as the pen is very cool and I used it a lot. I would have gotten another Note for this upgrade but the price went up something crazy after my purchase of the 9 in 2018. No way could I justify like 1600 on a fucking phone.

I recently broke my iPhone 5, which was my first smartphone and I wasn't very happy with it. I need a new phone and don't know much about smartphones. Does anyone have a recommendation for a phone that:

• Lets you install apps without an Apple or Google account
• Is not much bigger than about 5x2.5''
• Costs less than $150, cheaper is better of course
• Preferably has no biometrics
• Maybe lets you install LineageOS or something cool like that

Being able to call, send text messages and MMS is my priority. My main frustration with the iPhone was that it didn't read QR codes and I couldn't install Signal (or anything else) without an Apple account. I don't really care about data speeds, or number of cameras and there don't seem to be any phones with a robust build quality. Also I saw that LineageOS has trouble with VoLTE and carriers may soon require it so hence why it doesn't seem like a priority.

My current phone is a Motorola-whatever; which I've used since the Razr V3, which I still have.

Finally got a good new/old-stock battery for it recently, after finding the thing in my old footlocker. And behold; cats, bike parts, and a meme from 2009 which I used to fuck with coworkers (by displaying it on the tiny front/clock screen in PowerPoint training briefings).


Along with 1.5 megapixel snaps of a thunderstorm, boredom in the barracks, range fun, etc, etc. Even with such low resolution, it still looks a lot better here than on my OG Razr's screen.



I suppose I'll stick with Motorola in the future for smartphones, but hadn't even thought (or heard) about the new Razr until I refound my old one, and made me reconsider the folding type. Only thing that's made me hesitant before is I was waiting on flexible screens to become more durable. Unfortunately it's probably not going to be the new Razr.

One of my dealbreakers is that I want a headphone jack, but less and less phones are having that option. The pixel 6a is cheaper than the 5a on Amazon right now, so I'll be paying a premium for the headphone jack. Kiwis should I just let go of my headphone jack dreams?

I have the 5a and I really like the headphone jack. After its three years of updates are over (about two more years from now) I'm going to get another pixel and just get a usb-c headphone adapter and keep it attached to the headphones. It's worth it to me to have a pixel.

Maybe I'm a idiot fag but Ive had solid build quality and support from Google for the years that I've used the Pixel 1 and then Pixel 3a. Idk man I'm hesitant to switch. There's too many fucking options there and I want something simple. But you're right I'll do the research

I might do that. Money isn't the issue, it's solely the lack of headphone jack that turns me off from modern phones and my aversion to dongles. Anyone here have experience with using usbc to 3.5mm adaptors?

As a side, is it me or is the galaxy fold/flip series fucking retarded? A foldable phone just seems like it's begging to break at the hinges.

They play a commercial for that at the local art theater and it looks like they're just suggesting you fold it and use the screens separately. It seems like you could just have two screens regular-style, but that's probably what an old person would say.

I like the idea of there being different-looking phones again. Samsung could just man up and have a hamburger/macaron-shaped folding smartphone with two modern baby screens.

Currently waiting for my Pixel 6A to arrive and loading GrapheneOS onto that bitch. Shame phones are removing the headphone jack and I really do not look forward to them removing the USB-C port for wireless charging and connecting. At least it's a nice upgrade to the OnePlus 5T I've been rocking for like 5 years. Also managed to get my carrier up upgrade my plan to something cheaper while getting 3x the data.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+. I got the international version so I could load LineageOS on it. I am really happy with it as without all of Google's bloatware and spyware on it, the thing runs a lot faster and the battery lasts longer than the factory-installed ROM.

When my device finally dies, I am going to have to get another Android smartphone that I will allow me to unlock the bootloader like this one did, because fuck Google. This is why I always buy my phones used off of eBay as all of the American versions of Android phones have bootloaders that are locked down.
