Got a Pixel 7 Pro to replace my Galaxy S8+ because I could install GrapheneOS on it. It's pretty ironic that the best phone to "de-Google" is the one made by Google. Everything works fine, I just wish I could use some of the fancy features in Google's official camera app, but I'm not willing to install Google Play Services to do it. Camera quality is identical to stock, so I guess I can just edit on a PC if I feel the need to doctor up my pictures.
I think that you can use the Google camera app, this guy explains how to install GrapheneOS and a few other things too, pretty insightful

I, too, am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a Pixel 7 and running it degoogled.

i own a kyocera phone here is what it looks like any criticisms idk much a bout it so i wounder if u guys now anything about it ether

How is the Nothing Phone compared to a Pixel 7?

I've got a Oneplus 8T with LineageOS installed on it. It works pretty well, and I like it. Dropped it once, and I was able to replace the back glass rather easily. My only complaint is that it gets a bit too hot while charging, and that the battery life is fucking terrible.
I don't think I'll be upgrading anytime soon, but if I do, I'm probably not going to go with Oneplus again tbh. Their phones used to be reasonably priced, but now they're as expensive as buying Samsungs. Might go with a chink phone like Huawei or Xiaomi if I ever have to upgrade, since those have custom OS support as well IIRC.

I got a cheapo Motorola after years of paying too much for Samsungs. Yes the Motorola is completely shit but considering I use my phone as little as possible it's fine for my purposes. Also the battery life is awesome but I've been told the batteries fuck up after a year or so.
One day I hope to get something like the light phone but it needs a little bit more functionality. For various reasons I cannot go full old-people phone yet as much as I'd like to

Moto G100 used for $350. Good cameras, 8gb of RAM, sd card slot, and most importantly: an aux port.

I fucking hate buying a new model of phone

Currently using a galaxy A02s, which is truly the geo metro of phones (it does some of what you want, and barely everything you need for cheap). Used S10e prices have cratered because its not getting android 13 so i have one of them on the way. US snapdragon model so i (hopefully) dont run into carrier issues, but that also means i cant install custom roms afaik

I have a regular 8, and I'm definitely jumping ship to a Pixel when I next upgrade. On the plus side, LineageOS 20 is actually pretty nice.

Seems counter-productive to give Google money when you don't want Google crap.
What Kosher Dill said, I'd rather run GrapheneOS on any other brand, but they focus specifically on the Pixel phones.

Having said that, I've read that the hardware is actually pretty good so it's already a solid platform for de-googling.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Pixel 7a will turn out. Been running a 3a XL for almost 4 years now. Will be sad to loose a headphone jack though.

Last night I came across Unihertz Titan Pocket, a BlackBerry-like QWERTY phone that seemed like an answer to my prayers. It's well within my price range, only a little bit larger than my current phone, and statistically better in every way.

What holds me back are the user reports that they can't find a carrier that the phone works with. The problem is so common that Unihertz keeps a Google doc of working carriers and locations. Neither my country or my carrier is included on this list, and I don't know if I want to pay hundreds of dollars to be a guinea pig.

Alt and Shift being on the top row of the keyboard seems unintuitive as well.

Going from a Galaxy S9 to an S23 Ultra, so quite the leap. Hoping that it will be a great emulation machine, note taker, and impromptu ebook reader. The zoom on the camera seems incredible. There was a guy on Twitter who actually zoomed in enough on a plane that was flying moderately low to the ground that he could very clearly read the airline's name on it.
