Youtube's newest UI is truly fucking hideous. When I saw the seeker bar gradient, I thought my monitors were broken until I saw someone had the same issue.

Also, finally found out how to remove those stupid fucking "includes sponsorship" regions on frontpage thumbnails. Just throw this into your custom filters on uBlock Origin (if you can use it):
Code:
www.youtube.com##div[class^='YtInlinePlayerControlsTopLeftControls']

Has there been some youtube fuckery going on over the last few hours? There seems to have been an issue with livestreams simply stopping after 30 to 60 seconds. Refreshing or even restarting the browser just gives the same result. Seems to be fine now but it was affecting large numbers over at least a two or three hour period.

There's speculation that it's likely the result of VP9 codec.

Sometimes I wonder why they keep messing with the UI, none of the improvements actually improved anything. It really seems more like a sick joke to piss us off, believe me, I wouldnt put it above them being that petty.

When I look at "deleted" YouTube videos through Internet Archive it saddens me just how better the old UI really was.
These days I almost always use commandline or an Invidious instance as frontends.

Google hired in-house "UX Specialists". They need something to put in their quarterly reports, so they keep fucking with perfectly functional things. Many such cases. Never hire in-house design people.

What really pisses me off about the fucking stupid UI changes is that the issue where the comments that appear under the video are from a previous video you watched in the same tab... still fucking happens! This has been an issue for fucking months, but Youtube is more fucking interested in changing the seeker bar to have a stupid fucking gradient that looks like a defect.

Yewtu.be works for me again, sometimes better than Nadeko. I hope this isn't the end, but the public instance listing being reduced to 4 instances, only half of which work, is depressing.

So, I just clicked on a video and got an ad. Weird. Refreshed, got the ad again. Then I saw that I was on a different channel for that particular product. Seems like they're trying out redirects.
Did you use YT original site, or another frontend?

No sooner did Yewtu.be and Nadeko start working again and now the online downloaders have shit the bed. Now, with yt-dlp I will have to convert everything manually via Handbrake to be able to watch it and god knows how long that will take for bigger videos.
You got to wonder how much they're wasting on this shit, people will find an alternative way to download videos anyways and there is nothing Google can do about it.

I already know the answer to this question, but it bears repeating.

Can someone tell me why the hell YouTube removed the sign out feature on their app for mobile? I signed into an account for the Google Store to clear up some details, but I find I can't log out of YouTube for whatever godforsaken reason. You used to be able to do this about a year prior, but the option seemed to have been completely removed. Checking Accounts and Sync was no help either, so I am assuming they must have updated it sometime in the past year to prevent you from disassociating your phone from your accounts whatsoever.

Frustrating. As if I didn't have enough hassle and worry to deal with regards to Google and their bullshit. Is it so much to ask for to keep my shit compartmentalized? If anyone knows how to bypass this, I'd appreciate it.

Update: I decided to see if I could remove the app to sign out from there on the Google Store. It... The app is still there, but it seems to return an error 400 code when pressing back on the app.

I really need to find some other phone and get one of those alternative OSes like Calyx or Lineage. Just don't know where to look.

Settings -> Apps -> YouTube -> Storage -> Clear cache, clear storage

Tried that first. Didn't work for jack shit. It used to work back over a year ago last I tried it, but it's still stubbornly connected.

Just one more reason to the pile for my hatred of Google's horse shit.

Update: I found a work around. It seem seri0us's suggestion does work, but it comes with the caveat that you need an unassociated account for the method to work. You need to switch to that, and THEN you'll be allowed to sign out.

Goodness. So much effort to do what used to take a single click.

On a side note, my verification method has been swapped during the process. Shouldn't be too much of an issue to rectify, but it's still an annoyance that really shouldn't be so.

Has anyone been having a issue with old notifications continuing to pop up? Since Friday I'll get several notifications at once, multiple times in the day for content I've already watched or dismissed. I've tried turning off/back on notifications in YT and Firefox but that didn't fix it.
