US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

It's called passive aggressive faggotry and is best imagined coming from some bearded soyboy who writes clickbait for a living.
As someone who attempted to study journalism (I stopped pretty early on, as my most moderate professor was a part of a state-run newspaper in Nobody-Gives-A-Fuck Africa and saw no issues with how that effected her journalistic integrity)... that’s everyone that’s been funneling into journalism for at least the last half decade, almost certainly more.

My college was actually almost right-wing in comparison to many colleges, and yet there wasn’t even a single person right of center in the basic journalism classes, or if they were, they were hiding it damn well.

I’ve just come to the conclusion at this point that the profession has been rotten from the start and aside from a handful of exceptions we’ve just been gaslit into thinking there was ever anything respectable about the profession.

To reinforce this (just in case anyone doubts Alaska could turn out like that) there's already a prime example of such development: Alberta. Before the Canadian oil sands became a thing the province was largely rural and agriculture dominant. Starting in the 70s once oil mining tech was proven the province had a veritable makeover, becoming heavily oil & gas focused and seeing major growth throughout the north. Fort McMurray for example went from a middle of nowhere muskeg village to a city of ~70k, all of whom vote Conservative.

It was this "even" development which gives Alberta the distinction of having a relatively balanced urban-rural divide, something that has consistently kept left-wing parties out of power. Any exploitation of Alaska's resources would see the same sort of growth, and given the jobs would be resource-based - i.e. hard work, long shifts, no room for bullshit - it would do nothing but hurt Democrat prospects. No surprise the Dems won't let it happen on their watch.

And they're people who don't give a fuck about the cold. They would gleefully move to a town surrounded by like minded people, in the heart of Alaska, just to get away from the stink of homeless drug addicts. Their cost of living would decrease drastically, their income would increase, and their ability to have FUN would go up. We get those types of Californians in Oregon every season who trek in to the mountains to go elk, big horn sheep and antelope hunting.

Student journalism does nothing but breed wannabe Red Guards. My old college's newspaper ran an article attacking the president of the school for perpetuating racist systems on campus when he's done nothing since the Martyrdom of St. Floyd but grovel at the altar of anti-racism, called Kyle Rittenhouse's 'murders' the result of racism, and massively bloated the school administration with fresh new waves of diversity and inclusion hires.

It's not violating the 1st Amendment if I beg private companies to do it for me, right?
It actually is, big time. Someone already posted a Tweet snippet that this very likely makes them agents of the government, which means the 1st Amendment now applies to them. So long as there was plausible deniability they were good, but now, with the POTUS caught on video asking them to crack down on speech he doesn't like?
This is very blatantly their tactic on everything right now and its insane. They can't pass vax mandates so they push private companies to do it, they can't outright ban speech so they push social media platforms to do it. They can't straight up take over means of production so they have California gov put insane restrictions in place that throttle the ports. Totalitarian workaround lifehacks.
See above. This may not be a smoking gun, but if I was Twitter or Facebook's legal I'd be telling the execs to put out a press release that says "We'll take it under advisement but for now will act in accordance with existing law and our own policies". Keeps the status quo, but any increased enforcement action taken after Biden's speech could be argued in a court as them acting on his behest, which means the 1st Amendment is applicable to their actions.

The silver lining to all this fuckery is that you can only stretch suspension of disbelief so far in fiction. Whether that be a book, movie, or the legal authority of the United States government. And we're getting very, very close to the point where enough people just quit pretending to believe.
Notably, Kavanaugh and Roberts both left the door open for a better challenge on it.
I hate that there aren't thunkfuls anymore in here.
You’re nothing but a bog-jumping Irish snot. You probably have anal hairs clogged up with shit since you don’t wipe your ass. You probably blow hippopotamuses. YOU are a turd, a turkey, and a typical piece of shit. Your arrogance comes from the fact that you spent most of your life in the Cathedral of Carnal Sin, and that you were King Nigger’s begrudgingly racist white boy safety hire.

Joseph, I would let you suck my dick, but I would not let you swallow it. It is the essence of the nectar of the gods, and it mustn’t be in your body. You’re a senile turkey, and what’s left of your administration is pathetic. I hope you have the experience of truly understanding, in a moment of fleeting lucidity, what you have become/what you’re being used for, and the degree to which your political legacy (after all of these decades of work) is destroyed. This horrid realization should immediately be followed by immense, physiological pain that only lets up when you die screaming and bleeding from your asshole. Fuck you, Joe Biden.
Americans Citizens to the Democrat Sultan!

O sultan, Delaware devil and damned devil's kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of President are thou, that canst not slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil shits, and your bureaucracy eats. Thou shalt not, thou son of a whore, make subjects of American sons. We have no fear of your government; by land and by sea we will battle with thee. Fuck thy mother.

Thou Vermont scullion, Rhode Island wheelwright, brewer of Michigan, goat-fucker of California, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Virginia, pig of Seattle, Ukrainian thief, catamite of Portland., hangman of New York City, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig's snout, mare's arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow. Screw thine own mother!

So the Conservatives declare, you lowlife. You won't even be herding pigs for the Red States. Now we'll conclude, for we don't know the date and don't own a calendar; the moon's in the sky, the year with the Lord. The day's the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!
I couldn't resist, since your post was so inspiring.
Are they ignoring other companies that did?
*Bane Voice activates* Of course!

He says count the votes like he knows his little trick to win was just stolen by his competitor.
To quote @JosephStalin "It is not the votes that matter, but who counts the votes."
That reminds me of something HK, me, and a few other people were contemplating after 2020 showed all of us exactly how their system worked, combined with @Gehenna ’s and @Jaimas ’s protestations that they’re broke and that the middle managers are in a thankless position. How much of their machine was built around not just competative races, but in keeping the seats they need to keep comfortable. That shit in New Jersey brought that back up in my head. How much of that shit with the trucker beating the incumbant was pure luck and how much of it is the background operations they’ve always relied on being completely tapped out after 2020?
I'd say its less luck and more a combination of complacency and that lack of money. The Dems have a big tendency to coast in comfortable spots. Just look at what happened when AOC (or more accurately her handlers) decided to primary Pelosi's hand-picked successor. So, something comes up, a trucker begins knocking on doors, getting the word out, and the Dems go "Eh, its probably safe, we have more pressing issues elsewhere"... and he wins. They've got a lot of fires and only so many resources, and they figured such a "safe" seat was one they could leave relatively alone.
I would like more insight into point 5.

So the rise in the organization you have to be visible, and a kiss ass, but not be ambitus enough to be a threat to the one above you?

Would minor reforms to the organization help? such as giving middle managers more money a path way for train up subordinates?

Finally how does the GOP differ in their management/career path?
The issue is that the Dems are run like an autocracy. Popularity gets you promoted, but also singles you out as a threat to the upper ranks who fear being supplanted. AOC made a lot of those fears reality. The GOP is far more corporate. Do your time, work hard, get noticed. Far more stable, and ironically able to accommodate system shocks like say, an orange brickbat through the window a hell of a lot easier since new boss isn't going to be throwing out competent, skilled underlings they worry might be loyal to the old.
Pelosi desperately wants the fuck out before her entire legacy comes crashing down around her. But she owes too many people and they know too much about her and keep seeming to rope her back in longer because once she leaves the whole thing falls apart with absolutely no way to put it back together.
Well, given how close Pelosi is keeping AOC to her... I'd argue she's decided AOC is going to be her successor (not anywhere near by her own choice, admittedly), and is sticking around to give her a crash course in politics. Remember how fast AOC got doe-broken when it came to the Iron Dome vote? Things aren't nearly as antagonistic between them as we'd normally expect in politics given what she did to Pelosi's hand-picked next-in-line.
Meanwhile a based grandpa told me today that Alabama's state legislature is also now in session and this time they might actually pass something to allow the state to vote on having a lottery in November. He wants the yunguns to contact our representatives because that's where it got shot down last year (senate passed it). Injuns of course want this to bring in casinos so they can have a monopoly but the lottery is separate somehow. Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida have lotteries.

Send the energy bros <3

Imagine a bunch of Californians - people who have heart attacks if the temp dips below 60 - moving to Alaska to mine.
You'd be surprised. Anywhere that isn't the coast gets massive temp changes. Did you forget those mountains in the middle?

The climate of the Sierra Nevada is influenced by the Mediterranean climate of California. During the fall, winter and spring, precipitation in the Sierra ranges from 20 to 80 in (510 to 2,030 mm) where it occurs mostly as snow above 6,000 ft (1,800 m). Precipitation is highest on the central and northern portions of the western slope between 5,000 and 8,000 feet (1,500 and 2,400 m) elevation, due to orographic lift.  Above 8,000 feet (2,400 m), precipitation diminishes on the western slope up to the crest, since most of the precipitation has been wrung out at lower elevations. Most parts of the range east of the crest are in a rain shadow, and receive less than 25 inches of precipitation per year. While most summer days are dry, afternoon thunderstorms are common, particularly during the North American Monsoon in mid and late summer. Some of these summer thunderstorms drop over an inch of rain in a short period, and the lightning can start fires. Summer high temperatures average 42–90 °F (6–32 °C). Winters are comparatively mild, and the temperature is usually only just low enough to sustain a heavy snowpack. For example, Tuolumne Meadows, at 8,600 feet (2,600 m) elevation, has winter daily highs about 40 °F (4 °C) with daily lows about 10 °F (−12 °C). The growing season lasts 20 to 230 days, strongly dependent on elevation. The highest elevations of the Sierra have an alpine climate.
That stuff right to the west and north ain't a whole lot different, and to the east and southeast is the gorgeous but harsh deserts of the Mojave. While the blue-voting coasties may crap themselves whenever the thermometer hits 60 degrees or goes above 90, anywhere else in CA has hardier stock. This is the state that has the aptly named Death Valley, after all, and evening winds in the Mojave hot enough and sandy enough Platinum Games decided to name a man as grating as sand in your asscrack after those sundowner winds.
On a related note to the article, the word coming out of Biden's Georgia speech is interesting. It has the whole Republican parties hackles up and even a few Democrats, though trying to pivot off it, have admitted it went too far. @WonderWino 's post mentions it, but I have been hearing news on it since it happened. Even the RINOs here found it appalling and one of our federal senators called in to add some work to our queue.

Seems Biden's handlers accidentally kicked a hornets nest, and has pretty much made certain there will be absolutely no RINO support.
Can I get the highlights of his speech, if things are that catastrophic for the Dems now?

Ahh yes, that's it. Thank you.
I’ve just come to the conclusion at this point that the profession has been rotten from the start and aside from a handful of exceptions we’ve just been gaslit into thinking there was ever anything respectable about the profession.
Yes this is another pilling that's retroactively so obvious. Why did we ever let "experts" of any kind process information for us? It seems absolutely insane outside of some fantasy-land virtue supposedly instilled in these dildos while acquiring their bonafides from whatever institution they promised their first five years' salary to.

All the replies are full of people saying "I agree but the right-wingers would never agree to it because they're racists" even though this seems like another instance of lefties arguing with right-wingers in their heads (see: NHJ asking if conservatives would support school choice, that one Atlantic writer asking if conservatives would support fathers paying child support for children they abandon, etc.):

I don't quite agree with automatic registration, but would happily accept making government-issued IDs free and automatic. Hell, pair it with the draft registration and make it a required DMV visit, for everyone including women.

One big "You are an adult, now here is the start of your adult life. Come to the DMV, we will give you your ID, run you through the selective service, and if you want sign you up for voter registration."

And then anytime you need to renew your ID, also renew registration.

There, we both reach a good compromise, that streamlines a few processes, and ensures nobody is left out of a legitimate process. While also ensuring voter rolls remain clean every ten years.

Addition: Fuck, I'd even advocate adding a required single class on basic American civics and responsibilities. Completely free, make it a legally exempted day like Jury duty is for things like work and school. You go in, get a rundown of your rights and responsibilities as an adult, sign all your paperwork, get your ID, and leave as a full and functional adult of the USA.

Am I the only one who actually sees the dark side of all this?

The dark side being that the three liberal justices are absolutely insane. Meaning that some bad timing on Thomas dying for example could very easily mean we get some real judicial fuckery for decades.

You really can't let the Dems have another SCOTUS seat practically ever unless you want to risk more Sotomayors. Holy shit.
I fell behind again, can someone catch me up as to what happened here?

The three dissenting liberal justices basically advocated throwing out the constitution entirely, with Sotomayor being the most... insane of the three.
Uhh, what? I need more context, what was this about and why do they want to return to the British empire?

The decision to stay the OSHA mandate came in, 6-3 to stay. The 3 dissenting justices were Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan. And their dissent was basically "The constitution does not matter".

I agree, especially after doing some cursory research and finding that there are not a lot of states that provide free ID, and only if you're poor, on welfare, or homeless (it varies by state). Even if you set aside that the cost is so low that everyone should be able to get an ID without much issue, and even if you also set aside how many things you already need ID for, providing a path for every citizen to get a free photo ID would remove a lot of the arguments against its requirement to vote.

The problem is that Dems don't want to pass a sensible reform without tacking on a few dozen bullshit rules so they can game the system into perpetuity. Hell, they don't even want to pass these reforms because it removes the ability to use inactive or dead voters as free votes. So as much as I'd like to see this (and agreed on the civics class too, Lord knows there are a lot of people that could use that), I have doubts it'll happen anytime soon.

We’re basically in one long deontology vs consequentialism argument now. And only the Democrats realize it.
