Also, Kyiv is how it's spelt by Ukrainians. Kiev is the Russified spelling. Normally nobody gives a fuck but seeing as Ukraine is get assraped by Russia right now and NATO ain't doing shit, the international community figured they could at least be "nice" to Ukrainians and use their chosen spelling.
Its not spelt that way either by Russians or Ukrainians. After Ukraine seperated from the Soviet Union in the 1990s, a bunch of Academics did a project where they created a new
set of rules for translating words into English. The rules they selected led to the English spelling changing to Kyiv. There is no grand historic basis for "Kyiv" and its no more "correct"
than Kiev was. You could spell it ten different ways and all of them would be equally correct.

But changing how words are translated into English is something that nationalists always do as sort of a show of strength. It makes them feel good about themselves for
some reason.

Never heard of this weapon before?

Anyone point me to where it was used before?
Apparently Russia is prepared to use.
Well, I found this. Yikes! (this is from last year, btw)

from the article:

Death by TOS-1 salvo is an eminently unpleasant experience. Depending on a person’s proximity to the detonation, the overpressure and subsequent combustion from the blast wave can inflict significant damage to internal organs, as well as broken bones, ruptured eardrums, blindness, suffocation, and loss of consciousness in the victim’s last moments.

So China, who invests hundreds of billions into a defensive war machine made specifically to counter America's strengths, can't feasibly win a war game without it being rigged to finance the industrial military complex?
What do you find so incredulous? It's the same principle as your boss buying everyone new computers and office supplies right before he goes to his boss and reports that they came in just over budget with the recent project funds, and that they'll need more money for the next quarter.

If you want money, the last thing you want to show your financiers is that the money they've already given you is actually sufficient and they don't need to give you any more.

I still think that this is going to massively backfire for Russia, even if the Russians do manage to annex Ukraine and turn it into a puppet state. The Ukrainians are not going to surrender easily, and this could quite easily turn into an Afghanistan situation right on Russia's doorstep.
Agreed. Maybe Putin initially thought the West would just descend into infighting when he started making threats, and by the time it became clear that wasn't the case it was too late to back down. It's easy to imagine this becoming an endless quagmire for Putin as he's forced to pour more and more soldiers and money into stabilizing Ukraine while sanctions make things even tougher for the Russian public.

Russia is confirming that Zelenskyy has been successfully arrested and brought before Russian forces by his own bodyguards.
Big if true. Either the guards are hoping to keep their positions when Putin puts in his guy or they suddenly became redpilled on Jews 1645761675553.jpg

People here, especially the dumb Russaboos who have set up shop, don't realize that Russia has always had a terrible armed forces.

In the last 100+ years they've been shockingly humiliated by Japan in 1904 and then by Germany in WWI. Entirely and absolutely embarrassed. The WWI example is particularly interesting because the soldiers are invading a foreign territory and wondering what the hell they're doing there.

They were almost destroyed in WWII but, facing an opponent who made no bones about the fact that they were all pretty much going to be dead or slaves if they lost, was lucky enough to rally the entire nation to the cause. A lot easier when you are fighting for your home and the lives of your family. Still, they somehow managed to lose 25+ million people in the process.

Then they were completely humiliated again by men who shit in caves in Afghanistan.

It's not the infantile edginess of you Putin bros that annoys me, it's the fact that you have no grasp of history. Russia is a country full of dirt people. Why would you expect their conventional armed forces to be any different? They will strong-arm and blunder their way into Kiev and maybe subdue it (temporarily), but don't think that that NATO hasnt taken note of how clumsy and badly executed this thing was.

The US has mounted two invasions literally across THE FUCKING WORLD in the last 20 years and, even with Dementia Prez bungling the withdrawal from one of them, will have probably ended up losing less men than these savages have in a few days.

You think Chinese generals and admirals running their own wargames don't set things up so they can go to the Politburo and do the same? They aren't wargaming cakewalks for the PLA, that leads to complacency and politicians deciding to only give you 9 mountains of money not 10 and you really need 10 the national defense is so fucked if we don't get 10 mountains of money ok. Then next time it's not 10 it's 12 or 13
The Chinese have had a well known GIGO problem. Xi doesn't like to hear about how nobody has built a ramp carrier in 70 years, he wants an aircraft carrier and they better produce.
It's weird that there are hunters and enthusiasts in the US more decked out than invading Russians.
From the shit-talking everyone's done for the Russian military, yeah.

From history? No.

I feel like a lot of Ukrainians hate Russians more than the other way around. The Russian soldiers aren’t as into it. Many of them are orthodox and they’re related peoples. At least that’s the sense I get from the body language of the Russians. If the US invaded Canada, I’d expect a similar response from the US soldiers. It’s why they’re sending the Chechens. They won’t have the same hesitations.
Nah there's plenty of animosity towards Ukrainians. Russia bringing up their Nazi ties is a reminder of how they welcomed the Wehrmacht with flowers. And yes the Chechens don't care, they'll do what needs to be done.

My coworker says this entire invasion is just to get at Hunter Biden and other people who have deals in the Ukraine. All to expose the Democrats corruption and to take them all down for good.

Wouldn't be surprised it's an added bonus at least. Probably imaging the email servers of every company that us politician kid work with they can get their hands on.

Hunter seems exactly the type of idiot to discuss illegal material in clear text email
