The biggest irony imo is the massive hate of the corrupt western media (which I also personally agree is massively corrupt), yet absolute trust and respect for the Russian media lol. Same Russian media that were denying an invasion literally until it started, and denying even to today that this is a war lol.

I honestly believe at least half the Putinbruthas that claim that we shouldn't care about this war because it doesn't involve us or whatever, only care about this war because of their utter disdain of the media and how the media are reporting on it. So much irony.

#3 might actually be correct. Only because when the German's showed up the Ukrainian's joined them, seeing them as a path out from being slaves to and starved by Stalin. They wanted to join the German's in fighting the Russian's. (And there weren't anywhere near as many Russian's in Ukraine at that point. Mainly because Stalin was deliberately causing famines). Of course the German's being the bright souls that they were, when handed an Army of Ukrainian's who wanted to fight the Russian's, shipped them all to France to fight the American's and British. The Ukrainian's took one look at this arrangement, shot the SS Officers in the back of the head and joined the French Resistance. Have we mentioned that the Ukrainians are both an extremely complicated and remarkably direct people?

Nothing you said contradicted my point, obviously they are trying to cripple Ukraine's military capabilities, what I said was that I don't think they are trying to overthrow the government by destroying the country and leaving it in rubble. They are trying to get the Ukrainians to agree to their demands without doing that by surrounding the big cities and starving them out. Maybe that will change and they will start bombing the shit of Kiev at some point but my point was that's what they've been doing so far. And the airborne offensive was to capture Kiev's airport not Kiev itself.

But they don't really have anywhere near enough troops in country to surround any of the cities and starve them out. That's the huge problem looming for Russia. They didn't plan on a siege. They didn't bring enough troops for a siege. They don't actually have enough Active Duty Troops for a major city siege. They would need to start calling up their reservists. And once that happens all hell breaks loose in Russia.

Curiously, Steve the MRE man seems to have never done the Russian 24-hour MRE we saw empty boxes for a lot in the first few days. In lieu of him, here's some offensively inoffensive Russian trying it out.

The most curious part of it to me is the lack of a flameless heater in lieu of a mini field stove. I suppose that since you can reuse it for all three meals it would be more logistically efficient, but it just feels wrong to me on a visceral level.

Why does Putin want to expand?

Well, one thing to note is Russia's paranoia.

Ivan the Terrible wanted to expand east because some decades before the Tatars burned Moscow to the ground and killed hundreds of thousands of Russians and one century later you find Cossacks on the borders of China.

And shortly after that the Polish are about to conquer the whole of Russia and impose Catholicism onto the Russian people . (with more than 1 million Russians dead by famine or war)

Poland is no more in the 19th century.

All satellites have radiation hardened chips. They're hideously out of date because the process apparently takes years. Not sure if it would help with regular emp. There's no way Ukraine, assuming they manage a major counter offensive, will push the Russians onto Russia soil for Barbarossa 2.0, they probably won't even want to touch Crimea. Ukraine knows their only hope is to keep this a defensive war, keeps their image nice for the international community and Russia is less likely to mobilize it's reserve forces.
