B-but muh Coke is 130 rub instead of 100 for 2L. Blyat.
180 for 2 liters vs. pre-war 110. I switched to Chernogolovka which was, and remains, 120
and tastes like childhood. I used to pass it because it was expensive. Kek.
But enough soda sperging. I come bearing disturbing news.
According to MK,
Ukraine military is planning to disarm its terriorial defense forces. Remember the all-you-can-eat free Kalashnikov handouts? Unless MK is making shit up (it may very well be), Kiev wants those guns back and is no longer thrilled with the idea of an armed populace... For whatever reason. Especially now since said populace got its hand on American toys, artillery and missile launch systems. Apparently joining terriorial defense was a convenient umbrella for criminal elements and marauders, who knew.
But it gets better. Allegedly,
the territorial defense forces in the west are refusing Kiev's demands. Effectively, any governor can now declare himself the successor to
Nestor Makhno, proclaim his own fiefdom and field personal army with banderomobiles instead of tachankas. Take it with a massive grain of salt, but I heard some of them are decrying Kiev's ineptitude. If true, hello grassroot separatist movements just like in 1917. Things fall apart, the center cannot hold.
Enter Poland.
Just a few years ago, in 2016, Ukraine and Poland signed a nice little paper where they denounced Molotov-Ribbentrop's pact together. It sounded like a lovely "fuck you" towards Russia #23456 at the time...
...Except now it may very well come back to bite Ukraine in the butt. It just so happends Ukraine received 6 of its western oblasts in accordance with Polish partition outlined in that historic document. In other words, the nice little paper signed in 2016
created the legal basis for the return of Volhynia and Galicia to Poland.
But what's this? Just a few days ago
Poland aired the idea of creating a joint Polish-Ukrainean state! I am starting to see why Kiev decided to disarm the populace in its western regions: it does not need guerilla warfare from people who may disagree with the proposal because they want... you know...
independent Ukraine. The real Ukrainean patriots. Not unlike the ones fighting off the Russian invasion.
But wait, there's even more! Poland has a project called
"Restytucja Kresów". In accordance with it, thousands of Poles can claim their property and land in Western Ukraine on the grounds that they are legal heirs or legal successors, since a number of areas of Western Ukraine were previously a part of Poland. All in full accordance with Association Agreement with the European Union, which Ukraine signed back in 2014.
Such a development would not suit the regional elite of the western regions, since it raises the issue of redistribution of property.
The nationalism and separatism of the western regions will reduce the cost to the West of keeping the conflict hot, while at the same time maintaining the conflict with Russia.
It is cheaper than keeping all of Ukraine at war, given that a number of European countries have already declared their inability to supply arms due to a lack of them in storage.
We live in fucking interesting times.
