For how horribly stupid Lucas is, he’s strangely not terrible at phrasing things in a way that, to an outsider, sounds decent. Granted, most people who know who he is know better, and even someone who didn’t who did five minutes of research on him would easily figure it out, but some of the stuff he says, if they were just mentioned in passing to a stranger, would make him sound okay.Standup comic.

Some examples I can think of off the top of my head:
• From a video circa 2016 or 2017ish, after the Starbucks incident — Lucas was skinnier at this time, honestly probably the best he’s looked in his adult life (which isn’t saying much but still), he talked about a girl he volunteered with as part of his behavioral health program at Frontier Mental Health. He said how she very clearly liked him and he “could’ve been kissing on her right there, I’m a suave motherfucker man, I could’ve even gone to the bathroom with her if you know what I’m saying” — now, THAT part isn’t believable at all, even without knowing anything about him, but what he said next was normal enough and believable enough that if someone didn’t know better they would maybe think Lucas was more of a functioning member of society: he said “it was at my job.” He did then specify that it was at his VOLUNTEER job, but without knowing anything about him, or looking into what Frontier Mental Health actually does, someone might believe he actually had a job or at least volunteered regularly, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. It was just part of the therapy program he was in for people like him who are so fucked up that they can’t function in society, so they role-play some volunteer activities at the psych hospital.
• In 2018-2020ish during his “college” saga: multiple times Lucas said he was “studying for a PhD”. I can see how he justified this in his head, I can see even a normal person who was overly cocky and arrogant telling people they’re “in college to get a PhD” when they’ve only just started college, because they think that since they’re PLANNING to, it’s basically the same thing as actually having at a MINIMUM a Bachelors, or a Masters, and being a doctoral candidate. Plus, as idiotic and delusional as Lucas is, I don’t think he TRULY believed he was going to get a PhD, but even if he did, being in a couple remedial classes at a community college is in no way “studying for a PhD”.
• Also during the college saga (circa 2018-2020), Lucas often said things like “the research that got me into college”. By this he meant “the pseudoscience I read online that no one else believes made me think maybe I should go to college so that people will have to stop telling me I don’t have any qualifications to speak about science”. By “got me into college” he means “what got me THINKING about college”. But of course, wording it that way makes it sound like he did some groundbreaking research and now he’s a PhD candidate because of it.
• Similarly, throughout the years, Lucas has worded things about his “own” “research” and “discoveries” that make them sound like real things when they absolutely are not. For example, he says things like “scientists are doing 2500 studies on MY sperm”, when he really means “scientists are doing 2500 studies on men my age”. That might not even be true itself but let’s say it is — no one is studying Lucas or HIS DNA specifically, they never would because he is too mentally and physically ill to even be considered for anything like that. And even if he wasn’t, no scientists are doing thousands of studies on one random person anyway, that makes no sense.
He also says things like “I wrote an equation and NASA is using it”. I’m not sure how he justifies that one, the only thing I can think is it’s like that scene in The Office where Michael swears that he “imagined a unicorn” at 5 years old before he had ever heard of a unicorn. Maybe Lucas just wrote down an equation an actual scientist came up with and claims he “thought of it” at the same time that NASA did? He’s said something similar in regards to Princeton, something like “I discovered ___ about Gen X and Gen Z and now Princeton is running experiments on it!” All I can think of there is that Princeton happens to be doing similar studies to the ones Lucas has read the titles of and bases his whole worldview on.
Anyway this is really long but the TLDR is that Lucas actually isn’t horrible at making himself sound slightly above average when he’s talking to strangers. And the fact that he continually does so on purpose is part of what continues to remind me that yes, he’s horribly mentally ill with a Swiss cheese brain, but he’s also a revolting, shitty person who would absolutely be more of a predator, scammer, and general criminal if he was smarter and less of a pussy. So I don’t feel bad about being a dick to him.
