So the "Lucas cycle", such as it was, used to be periods of forced hospitalization, in which Lucas gained a tremendous amount of weight, followed by brief periods of staying on his medication when he was away from the auspices of the hospital, followed quickly by the realization that he preferred the way he felt without the medication, leading to mania, leading to compulsive walking and talking, which made him lose the weight that he'd gained, eventually.
For some reason, I have the feeling that Lucas, at this point, is a little too old and sedentary to repeat that.
I just can't see the close-to-400 lb Lucas Werner doing the same manic walking and talking around Spokane that he did even two years ago. I have a feeling that, absent some major outside force, Lucas is going to remain this boring for a good while, if not forever.
Frankly, it's probably for the best. The heavy dose of sedatives and antipsychotics he was on seem to have done the job of tamping down his mania, and they've also tamped down the sex drive that was the major driving force in most of his acting out.
His only impetus now seems the desire to get more food, and the fact that there are people giving this to him, for him doing little to nothing, means that he'll be essentially satisfied. If he stops taking his medication, and enough of it bleeds out of his system, his sex drive might come back enough to lead to another period of insanity, but for some reason, I'm just not seeing that in the cards...
