Her performance during 3rd fes was all-around one of the better ones that day in my opinion, and not because I found the others lackluster at all. Which is fucking crazy if you listened to her very first Karaoke stream. And her stage presence is a lot more like Suisei than others more Idol-like dancing and moving around. By which I mean Suisei really holds herself more like a traditional singer with some added flair. (Not that Botan doesn't do both, like in the video you mentioned and whenever she does collabs)

Completely agree with you. Botan was one of the best performances that day, and anyone who say's shes not good at singing or at dancing hasn't watched 3rd Fes.

In Japan you can lose a suit for libel (名誉毀損) for saying something factually true if done with malicious intent. While the precedent for protected speech is at least on par with the United States law, the average person is not going to have the resources to fight the system so individuals are generally more careful about what they say in public. Japan has it's fair share of litigous legalcows.

Japan has issues dealing with stalkers (same for any country tbh) but the current set of anti stalking laws are twenty years outdated and don't really work if the police is completely apathetic to your predicament. For better or worse, most Japanese police don't give a shit about what some Twitter user said about you even if they say they want to turn you into a skin suit and coincidentally bumped into you in public outside your house multiple times.

Absolutely. The fact that so much /vt/ sperging has occurred due to one offhand comment is a testament to the monumental retardation there.

Most of the sperging was because of legitimate fears of holoEN importing the infinite gender idiots, who in turn would make everything tainted with politics. I was in the camp of preemptively cautious after those remarks surfaced too - so I'm biased - but I don't think it was an illegitimate fear back then since vtweeters and other opportunists were already there after holoEN1's success. It did get overblown as is /vt/'s wont, though.
