Minecraft snapshot 22w24a is out, and it brings with it draconian bullshit.
Release Notes (Archive)
I don't know about you, but I can't wait to be banned from all multiplayer functionality just like in Bugrock for saying FUCK on a minecraft server!
I'm pinning the blame for this on the anarchy server autism. Things were going good until that mob of autists started attacking every open port in existence just because 2b2t wasn't updating fast enough to feed their drug addiction, and now they have to clamp down on Java since its public image has become DHE OLDESD ANALCHEST SERBER :DDDDD and that will destroy the bottom line even more.

I loaded MInecraft for hte first time in years today. I had to merge my account with Microsoft/XBox, then none of the settings for custom world generation were there, and it wanted to sell me tons of extra shit. What the fuck is this?

I'm curious as to how you'd even report someone for "nudity or pornography" through chat logs. Unless someone's spamming porn links, that's the one that's going to see the least use.

The issue i have with the new report feature is that it reports to mojang and not the server owners, this is a overstep of server runners right to moderate as they see fit, and the fact this may possibly lead to people getting barred out of ALL multiplayer for saying stuff on one server and getting a service wide ban is a terrifying concept

That's an issue that people should bring to Mojang. The system isn't complete yet and they are open to player feedback.

The system is complete, and they are in fact, taking the approach of forcing it in regardless of feedback.
Can't wait for the inevitable slippery slope!

Yeah, I saw it yesterday. It still doesn't worry me personally as I rarely find myself talking with randos in public servers, but I guess we'll just have to see how well this system does down the line.

Edit: Supposedly a modder went into the pre-release's code and found that there seems to be a function to enable or disable the chat moderation system.

Any of you guys still playing older versions of the game? I've found that they've just added too much shit to MC over the years. Currently I'm playing 1.0.0 hardcore. It's very cozy.
For me, I still play on a modded 1.12.2 (OptiFine + Xaero's Minimap + Galacticraft*). I agree with you on that latter bit, Minecraft these days feels extremely "bloated" and less focused on just good, simple fun.

I first got a taste of MC with the PC Gamer Demo, then I got the Xbox 360 Version on Christmas Day in 2012, and I still have it alongside my Java Edition. I refuse to play Bedrock Edition (I got it free with my XB1 and it's just a suckier Java Edition in my opinion.). Newer MC feels like it's all about adding more "content" and making the game needlessly complex. Older MC feels like it's just about having some fun.

*if anyone knows some good 1.12.2 mods that add in guns that doesn't conflict with Galacticraft, please tell me!

I run a private realm server that i pay Microsoft for. Two friends are invited, and they come in occasionally to say hello and break balls.

Last month, my buddy hops in and uses some very colorful language at me, causing me to respond with "shut up, darkie". The word "darkie'" comes up censored. We forget about it and carry on. A few days later, a login attempt fails. I've caught a weeklong ban for typing 'darkie'. I appealed, and was sent a very curt letter about the enormous harm done by racism.

No person was harmed by the word, obviously, but it never occurred to me that they were monitoring all speech on all private realms at all times. We don't use the chat function in game anymore, at all. Hopefully everyone is aware of this. If you type a racism on your private server and nobody is around to hear it, you may very well be banned. Slurs against females did not result in the same consequence.

I disagree. Modern minecraft still retains the old feel of the past. All the recent updates have done was improve the old aspects of the game and gives us more to mess around with.

1.13 made the ocean biome a little more lively and gave us a few extra goodies like the Trident.

1.14 made villagers significantly more useful (almost to the point of being busted) and gave us the ability to actually create our own villages. Not to mention added several new work stations that helped streamline the some more complex complex crafting recipes.

1.16 improved the nether by giving us a new use for gold, a resource generator, cool building blocks, etc.

1.17 and 1.18 made cave exploration a lot more interesting and even offers some strategy when it comes to mining for resources.

And, despite how it turned out, 1.19 brought us a neat new underground structure, a helpful new mob, clay renewablity and so on.

I'd argue that the issue is less about the content of the updates and more about the frequency. It's cool for the players that actively keep up with game's development, but it can be overwhelming for players that are more on and off with the game.

Why does it feel like all my games are getting invaded by troons?
Because gaming requires attention that's adjacent to autism and troonery.

I don't play new versions because mod developers don't maintain their projects through different ones. Thaumcraft dropped off at 1.12, which is one of the sticking points for me.

Understandable, 1.12 is pretty much a modder's haven with how many cool mods there are. Something that I attribute to the fact that there was a massive developmental gap between it and 1.13. Giving modders plenty of time to just settle down and get used to things.

Although, I do believe the same could happen for modern Minecraft versions (there are some post-1.12 mods that are really fun to play with imo). It just depends when Mojang plans on slowing down on the updates and giving the modded community sometime to breath.

Hey dude, if you enjoy it, I'm not knocking you for it. I, personally, prefer to stick with 1.12.2, but as long as we're having fun, that's what matters, right?

Although I have to admit the new content does seem intriguing, but as @Baraadmirer said, most of the mods that are out are for 1.12.2. Especially in my case, I basically can't play without Galacticraft at this point.

By the way, do you know of any gun mods that play nice with Galacticraft and are Survival-friendly?

I don't play 1.12.2 very often (save for a few magic modpacks), but I thought Immersive Engineering added a gun weapon. Other than that, you're probably better off asking at the Minecraft forums. 😬
