Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

you maybe mistaking this set with this one which will be coming out soon with the summer event. it does suck the game was forced to have a cash shop and most of the money that comes form it is used on bad fucking marvel games. its the price we sadly have to pay for an okay game.

See, friend of mine previewed that set too and claimed they were both part of the upcoming summer event which didn't exactly sound quite right to me, but at least we know for sure now.

FFXIV’s community has always been made of faggots, but posts like this is going to turn me into a full blown homophobe by the end of the year.

Please someone explain criterion and variant dungeons.

I am watching the Live Letter but I am afraid I am just dumb as fuck.

Asmongold consistently has this problem of trying to insert himself into other big games (Dark Souls, Path of Exile, etc.) and getting tilted when he can't pretend to be a big-dick in them like he can in WoW. The big difference is that XIV, as a game, had consistent and sustained growth for almost a decade without any e-celebs hopping on the bandwagon. So here's what usually happens:

1. e-celeb decides to pick up FFXIV and everyone celebrates
2. e-celeb does something that pisses the community off but expects deference because they're 'promoting' the game and most games have communities that are desperate for wider recognition
3. FFXIV players don't act deferential because the game is doing fine and has been doing fine forever now, all without any e-celeb shilling
4. e-celeb has melty about how toxic the community is

This has happened many times before. Asmongold is just the largest one. Say what you will about the XIV community's mentality, but it's absolute kyptonite to shitty e-celebs and I think that's pretty hilarious to watch.

Basically fractals from GW2 or WoW mythic+ except with fewer difficulty levels (so less division in the player pool) and without needing to constantly maintain your attunement to higher difficulties. The dungeon design also sounds similar to WoW's megadungeons which are large dungeons with branching routes. No idea what the rewards will be but based on when they're coming out, they'll probably drop relic mats and also provide you with a path to decent-ish gear that's better than the normal raid/crafted gear but not as good as savage raids (so something to grind for people who don't wanna do savage raids regularly).

So Variant Dungeons are where its a "Choose Your Adventure" kind of a thing. Different paths, no restrictions on party composition. Could be easy, could be rather hard.

Criterion Dungeons on the other hand are being designed with the intention of being difficult.
Criterion Normal 4 player party restrictions, normal Ressurection is banned, each player has a resurrection limit, enemies don't revive, ect ect.

Criterion Savage 4 player party restrictions, Resurrection completely banned, enemies do revive after a time, and not killing enemies fast enough causes them to suddenly get a huge buff.

Variant dungeons are criterion dungeons, criterion was apparently a place-holder title. They seem to be like a choose your own adventure book but your choices affect the degree of difficulty in addition to the story, with each city-state eventually getting one and Ul'Dah being the first. There is apparently going to be savage versions as well but they're limited to one route, everything in the dungeon has an enrage timer, and you can't revive.

Why the fuck are mentors so fucking retarted??!! Was tanking haukke manor and died 5 times because the mentor tranny refused to heal. Didn't even use any damage skills because they were busy dilating or some shit. After that did again with a party sprouts and didn't have any problems. Mentors truly are the niggers of ffxiv.

How does one even die in Haukke Manor tho

People were soloing that dungeon synced in 2014

Island Sanctuary didn't say it was instanced housing so time for people to mald because some streamer retard said it was instanced housing back during the media tour and got people's hopes up (I believe it was Meoni for those keeping score).

The new dungeons legitimately make me want to try to play the game a lot more again, even though the general community are a bunch of monkies so I'll likely never get to do anything past the baby story mode version.

Depending on what quality of loot they drop, they sound like XIV's answer to WoW's Mythic+ system. They'll likely still develop an autistic speed run community but will still be more accessible than raid content with its four additional retards to wrangle.

I've been looking around and surprisingly enough, no ones really complaining. Seems like a massive proportion of players are incredibly happy with how it sounds so far.

And I was expecting less than what was discussed today, with YoshiP repeatedly saying to temper your expectations. So that there's more details to come in the next LL, its in a pretty good position at the moment.

I’m not completely sold on it yet because there’s still a lot that remains to be seen, but if there’s no in game incentive monetarily or progressively then I’m concerned this might be a bit of content I never touch again like eureka or Diadem. Now, there are some people who are happy having an animal crossing simulator as an isolated activity and that’s cool, I just wonder if it’s content that would be for me or if I’d grow nihilistic playing it and eventually feel like I’m wasting my time.

I'd rather it be like Eureka/Diadem (Eureka did matter back in stormblood, sort of) then it be something super important or be a really relevant piece of content. It has a clear niche appeal but it isn't something everyone who plays an MMO wants. It is like crafting, you can technically ignore crafting and be just fine, but it is there and is its own game within the game that can appeal to some people.

I'd rather it'd be niche then it feel like it is required, in the end we're all kind of wasting our time playing an MMO anyway, so do it if you care or don't do it if you don't. The new dungeons if they don't suck have more interesting appeal to me then most newer types of content they've released in years, although pvp was surprisingly not shit but I had no expectations for it at all. So I'm willing to let Island Sanctuary just be casual fluff.

Way ahead of you there my friend ;)

Personally I don't care for the idea of an in-game equivalent of Animal Crossing, but that's just me. But what I am quoting seems to be a habit for the devs and I hate it. Not too long ago I was wishing they would give us harder dungeons similar to what they did in ARR and I think HW, since they seemed to dump that idea in SB and above. Hell, I'm surprised they're paying attention to PvP so much lately, which I like. However Frontline sucks if you're melee due to the new system.

Dragoons were really annoying last time I played with that jump attack they could abuse to get Battle High fast.
Dragoon LB is stupid good. Can actually turn things around in a pitch, and in the heat of a fight can be hard to spot coming. Other then that, melee blows in Frontline due to how much crowd control there is now. Ranged have to worry about their positioning and engagement far less.

I honestly think it's the other way around: the "great community, btw", gets a ten foot erection for popular streamer and start having ridiculous expectations that they promote their chosen game. Yeah, there are retards like Pyromancer who do have a melty, but they also aren't anywhere near as big as someone like Asmongold is in terms of sub numbers.

Asmon would be king shit if he stuck with XIV. The reaction shot of him coming out of the first cinematic (or whatever) to like a football stadium parking lot of that FFXV car lined up to him was more or less proof of that, IMO.

I just don't think he likes the general aesthetic or vibe of the game, but knows that playing it draws in viewers. It's a bit different from Dark Souls, where he was getting dummied and he took a break cos he was getting frustrated (I think, I'm not an avid Asmongold viewer but I catch flare ups here and there on livestreamfails.)

I also don't think that XIV is all that particularly engaging streaming content, to be perfectly frank. You blow your load with the MSQ and 'reacting' to the 'amazing' story, maybe do a few raids and that's about it.
