Mentors are an instance of the smallest amount of power going to someone's head in the biggest possible way. The good ones are few and far between.

Yo guys I need a favor. I'm thinking of getting back into FF14 for endwalker, but the whole 1 -> 2 -> 3 combo shit without using the same button pisses me off, so I was looking for combo macros and shit (since the macro in 14 sucks, duh).

https://github.com/priprii/ComboSkills <- anyone had any experience with this one? Or any other good macros, preferably for monk or customizable like this one. It's literally the only thing stopping me from playing the game again.
My autism refuses to let me play this game due to it. Actually less autism, more spite I guess.

Just use an mmo mouse. Macros are gay.

The answer is that you can use these kinds of addons but they're probably going to fuck up your rotation. Especially for monk because the rotation is often static but you'll have to sometimes switch it up (going into DoT combo early to keep the damage ticking when you'll be denied uptime for example). Also anecdotally it'll probably fuck up your muscle memory for OGCDs.

If you want a combo-less DPS without a ton of buttons, play dancer, bard, machinist, or summoner.

Mch does have some of the fewest buttons last I counted, especially amongst dps, so it less hotbar space. So still a decent recommendation.

What are you seeing people say about him? I wasn't paying attention to discussion of Eden's story when it came out and no one talks about Eden except to ship Ryne and Gaia in the most creepy way possible.

I was wracking my brain at the mention of him and trying to remember who it was, it still took me a few seconds of thinking after seeing this to finally remember who he was.

I guess he just wasn't impactful? Even though I quite liked his arc.

I also don't think that XIV is all that particularly engaging streaming content, to be perfectly frank. You blow your load with the MSQ and 'reacting' to the 'amazing' story, maybe do a few raids and that's about it.

Idk, I think XIV is one of the better MMOs for streaming, just because it does have a story that viewers can get invested in. I know that's more interesting to me than watching some guy do M+ in WoW or something lol. But in general, MMOs aren't great for streaming tbh.

But I feel the same about Asmon. I think he gave the game a try because everyone kept talking about it and he needed something for content at the time and didn't really expect the reaction he got. I don't think he ever had any intention of making it his "new MMO". He's a WoW Andy if one has ever existed. He criticizes Blizzard, but he doesn't seem to put his money where his mouth is. He'll be back to focusing Dragonflight soon enough.

He's the main antagonist for the Eden raids.

I dunno, it was just amusing to me. I think it was Zeke who was talking eons ago about how Ryne/Gaia become friends because they're both powerful individuals who don't quite understand what's going on around them and can relate to one another.

I took the Eden raids as being more about Ryne growing into her role for the First and her relationship with Gaia as being typical teenager shit. Like, if it was just about Ryne terraforming the Empty and we fight iterations of previous primals, it'd be serviceable for a raid tier or whatever, but lack a general 'story.'

There's some nice homages to FF8, too, which I get that these folks use as further proof that they're munching each other's rugs, but that's all it is -- an homage.

Oh that's what you were alluding too. Yeah I have no idea why everyone ships Gaia with Ryne when it is obvious who she is most likely with, they're literally reincarnated companions and confidants at absolute least and lovers at best. Like Mitron is a little weird due to Gaia being so young in current form, but I mean I can't exactly blame the guy, for all he cares Gaia is as old as he is and he'd be sort of right to feel that way.

Yeah that sounds like something autistic I'd say about this plot because I read way too much into this weeb ass MMO. I think I was more alluding to how Ryne and Gaia have at some point had identity issues and they both try to forge their own self through their experiences, Ryne is kind of done with that development and is now trying to be normal after playing oracle for her entire life, but Gaia has her own identity crisis so Ryne naturally wants to help her as she understand what she's going through to some extent. This then in turn leads to Ryne and Gaia being typical teenage friends, which given how extraordinary their lives have been, is actually not that mundane to them despite it being mundane to us. In a way Eden's entire thing is returning a bizarre world to some sense of normalcy, both the world itself and the two primary characters in Ryne and Gaia.

Eden I'd say overall is about a couple of things and introduces a few concepts. It talks about memories in some degree of detail, Bozja also does this though it is more on a metaphysical level, which is somewhat relevant to a few things in Endwalker later. It is about sort of trying to analyze what makes a person who they are, as Gaia is effectively a blank slate at the start who's getting pulled in a handful of directions and she chooses to instead just not give a fuck at all because thinking about this stuff is mind wrecking, it isn't that deep at all but it exists. It is like a really light (for this kind of story) story about someone having an identity crisis while in a way just being born into the world, as I've seen amnesia play out before, and it is absolutely terrifying to just have no idea who you are and you're just dropped into a life you don't feel is really yours. So while Gaia is a colossal bitch, especially at the start, I feel for her on some level because amnesia is confusing as fuck and media tends to downplay it through magical memory restoring plot devices.
