General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

She's a Gundam fan! There's even a possibility of Gundam karaoke in the future.

Meanwhile, pon wolf is a Gundam fan and mentioned AU's before Ushit Century. I think I may be in love.

That controller animation is nice and all, but the thing she showed after was even better! :smug:

Airi stream has been fun so far. She actually went through with playing that old Microsoft pinball game on stream a little at the start. I can see why she'll be enjoyed by the thread here.

And her game choices!

Lord help me I'm going to parasocial.

Maybe Sana needs to graduate because she's gonna have a back surgery, thus needs a hell lot of time to recover, and needing to stream doesn't help her recovery at all?
Now I REALLY want pako to be IRyS new papa.
Couldn't agree more that once Sana has graduated, who knows if Pako will be IRyS' artist in one way or another.

I think the Taiwan incident also got Ina/Nagu cucked out of more work with Girls Frontline, because the last thing she did for that game was a character almost two years ago, even though she drew one of the most popular skins in the whole game, for the main character, no less.
On the topic of gachashit, that was more or less she got into Azur Lane, and she’s designed an additional 3 botes on a regular basis since then. Which would be strange, if Yostar hadn’t put in subtle acknowledgements of Myth get away from me I don’t need meds

Gura WILL get into that game as an Ultra Rare collab gacha only submarine. This is my final cope.

Does gacha art really pay that much? Just seems bizarre to me to choose that over getting paid to play video games for 9 hours a week and/or do streams chatting with friends about what kind of cake you'd like to eat.
as someone else said in the thread, yes. I don't have the specifics but supposedly on certain games, if a gacha banner does well because a char caused it, supposedly some kickbacks can occur. As another post mentions, sometimes its meta in game that drives the banner. Sometimes it just pure seggs appeal or fujoshit. Take your pick, tis the poison well that most gacha games have to drink from.
I presume as a means to try and raise moral to prevent any sort of cascading problems. Makes sense from a purely utilitarian point of view.
You'd be surprised at how corporate, calculative, and utterly utilitarian Japanese corpos are. Anything to keep productivty at the same or higher levels and/or avoid drama or cascading effects, the big corpo boogieman will sign off on it.. unless they're a black company and are more that happy to just treat it as a meat grinder

If it was partially due to contractual obligations: playing video games or talking three times a week for one hour for one year is nothing. This is for a six figure job. This is the bare minimum. If someone can't even fulfill that much then they're not cut out for the job.
Yeah, Sana streamed long hours when she did stream but there's a reason it's a weekly requirement and not a yearly one: consistency is far more important for a streamer than long hours.

Looking at work load Ina is your comparable here since they have the same occupation. Ina sleeps four hours a day or something. Ina draws pretty quickly even for a professional artist. Ina until now has lived at home and had her parents there to partially take care of her chores. Ina mostly cut MMOs and gacha out of her life. Sana has a pretty severe back issue. Realistically, something had to give at some point.

With better luck Sana would probably have made it past the year and gotten the Ayame treatment. Heck, they could have given her art commissions to work on if she preferred that over streaming.

As an aside, I think hiring someone with a successful full time creative job is not the way to go. Sure they're talented but they're also overqualified and might not prioritize the job. Hololive got lucky with Ina the first time around.

Focus on hiring someone who wants to stream and/or sing for a career. Everything else is a bonus.
yea, streaming is all about consistency AND branding. Sana likely had branding AND corporate branding to back up her own personal branding. But you don't build a consistent CCV or fanbase without consistency in streaming (plus a lil bit of reading the room on what viewers want and/or luck). A good example of streamers is CohhCarnage, man went ham with streaming, found some success but eventually he fizzled out before taking a retrospective of his brand and what he wanted his stream to be WITH CONSISTENCY.

sometimg something, applies to jewtube too because of almighty algorithm

If you will permit me my little rambling on the sana situation:

yes it is very sad that sana is leaving, didn't watch her much though, but more importantly get ready for this to become a regular occurrence. cover has been around long enough and is at the size where they are going to have a steady trickle of people leaving. Happens in all companies.

This I already the case since we have had three in the last year. I don't mean to say that there will be some great exodus and the flood gates are open though. More like, in order to grow a healthy bush you must prune it from time to time. get rid of the dead weight, the diseased limbs. not to say this is all covers fault, each will leave for their own reasons.

Cover will continue to grow with each new generation but we must once again face the fact that one day our oshis leave us. its just a matter of when not if.
this is such an unfortunate fact when you grow big enough. See doog posting about oshis leaving us.

"Ahhhhh man just woke up from a nice nap!"
see's 20 new pages on Vtuber thread

same, long day at work, heatwave, takes nap, sees over 40 pages since clueless woman's anniversary stream, wonders why all the posts (maybe the Mumei sad stream got the rrat machine going), reads why (:_(

Support your oshii while you can.
I'd be surprised to see any Japanese vTubers play any romhacks, I think it's highly frowned upon in Japan. Korone does play a lot of older stuff.
>about to say something about oshis
>sees a post about Korone
>Korone says daisuki at the end of it all
>tears up a lil because I know this can only go on for so long before DOOG has to gradute

Meta > gender. Meta > politics. Meta > enjoyment.

- Ex-gacha player
as a on-off gacha player, meta be damned. I want to look fly playing and I will take the nicest and flashiest looking units all time, even if its off-meta
It might just be because Arknights players are a whole different breed, and they're the Chinese equivalent of hardcore SJWs. The giant wave of gacha game censorship that happened last year was because they were assmad that Azure Lane was getting coomer skins, and that they're better than that, so they reported the game to the chink police, causing a giant censorship wave in multiple games. As I've said, Ina's character, and the skin she did in GFL are still very popular, and there's no asspain over them. Chink gacha autism is such a tangled web of incredible retardation, dog eating blood feuds, and backstabbing.

related ina art tax, for sperging out:

I remember following what happened re chink austism. Supposedly a large CN Arknights fangroup got very angry that the same company that published Arknights (AK) doesn't want to let the game go nuts with its furry sexappeal versus their other very sex baity (both in big tits and flatboards) shipgame Azur Lane (AL). So, bugmen being bugmen.. they decide to mass report AL. This move prompted some of the most readily available units with very high seggs to be censored up the wahzoon on AL. The devs up at Girls Frontline to take precautionary measures and also did some self censoring. The last I heard on that whole drama was 1) one of the main devs told their CN fanbase, dont blame the devs, blame the other retards for mass reporting anime tiddies to whichever CCP division likes to crackdown for cultural purity and 2) the censoring was suppose to be light and reversable with an ingame "code"

Truth. I had two extruded discs removed 15 months ago, and I still can't walk properly due to nerve damage (bending over computers constantly for 13+ years didn't help). The human back is fucking stupid.

The very first person who knew is probably the same person who talked her friend into the job in the first place.

I found an interesting recent interview with Namie about her art career here. Long story short, she mentions the grind and the ever-present stress and pressure more than a few times. I'd bet that she just can't hack keeping her primary job going and stream at the same time, especially if pain is involved. She loves being an artist way too much to let it go. Especially relevant is this quote from her: "Personally even though I love to do art, I think that if drawing becomes my life I need something else (job, relationship or hobby) otherwise I'll get burnt out. I think that there's more ways to grow by dabbing in more possibilities. When you are drawing you aren't interacting with anyone or thing because scribbling takes that much time and commitment." I wonder if this is why she even became a Vtuber in the first place.

Also explains why she didn't draw much on stream. She already draws so damned much for her primary job, why draw even more for her secondary job and create more stress (I have an art degree, and I can confirm that it does get to you if you try to do art outside the 'main' job, which is why I quit that field)? She probably wanted to escape her constant art duties by streaming literally anything else, but underestimated how much time it would take away from the primary job.
they sometimes say do something you love as a job, you never work another day. With Sana, she's likely so sick of drawing, she just wanted to goof around instead of playing the game of "use your strengths for your job". And unfortunately, it all didn't work out for her :(

Maybe Sana needs to graduate because she's gonna have a back surgery, thus needs a hell lot of time to recover, and needing to stream doesn't help her recovery at all? Can'

Couldn't agree more that once Sana has graduated, who knows if Pako will be IRyS' artist in one way or another.
surgery's a bitch, and I know many a Kiwifarmer and irl people who would rather have not go thru the entire debacle of surgery and then healing from it. The worst part is sometimes surgery doesn't fix the problem and now you've just gotten laden with the drawbacks of surgery

I've seen CN AL accounts that had Hololive units delete the HL collabs units. Some bugmen even in their outright insanity destroyed their phones. Bugmen stupidity is immeasurable.
Damn... July's a fucking ride for Vtubing eh my fellow Kiwis? And we're not even halfway through the month I'm gonna primarily miss having that breaddog mascot be a thing mostly.

Here's to Sana 🍻 And here's to your oshis, treasure em, love em, sperg for em. Life's a lil short to not do so.🥂

I can't pretend Sana is my oshi or anything, but I don't dislike a single member of EN so it really sucks to see anyone go. She was really good in collabs too, even if her solo streaming niche wasn't my exact niche.

...which leads me to the absolute morons who complain about 'a wasted slot'; Anyone is going to fill some niche. Sana primarily did long, high-%-completion streams of iconic nintendo series (at least that's the impression I have). For some people somewhere, that is their perfect niche. Being angry because it is not YOUR niche, or because you believe that some other niche would be more profitable is insane. I could maybe understand getting mad at the talent if they have no connection or chemistry with the rest of their coworkers, but that is not and obviously never was the case with Sana.

There is not enough time in life to hug every cat...I mean, watch every vtuber, so if someone isn't your primary watch but they're still fun in collabs, there is literally nothing to complain about.

Sorry to see Sana go in such a way but I hope she recovers well and I think she'll have an easy time finding more work since she's already a talented artist.

Finally got home and tuned into Airi, this girls a bit out there lol but very hyper, I like it. Get her and Lia together and it's gonna be like a face full of coke.

Edit - I do kinda hope Sana keeps in touch or updates folks occasionally somehow, maybe through Ina or something. Really sucks to see someone as young and ambitious as her get fucked over by an injury and back injuries can be life term, it'd be nice to log in sometime down the line and see that she's actually recovered nicely or something.

Something else people haven't really pointed out yet. Cover is big on the idol gig. According to people who got pretty far in the audition process, Cover really pushes stuff like concerts, live appearances, etc. If Sana's health just didn't make that kind of thing a realistic prospect, that's one more reason they might've decided to have her graduate.

That said, I think this is going to be a pretty amicable split overall. Nobody seems angry or mad, just a bit sad. Cover's immediately released a highly supportive message saying it was her decision. This is about as nice as it gets. Again, saddest thing here is a great character design and unique concept having to be shelved.

seems like a slapfight is going because of a shity ENClipper hottake/rrat
Also nice way to out oneself as a drama grifter who doesn't watch or research shit.

Seriously though anyone who says that shit and doesn't even bother to find out it's related to personal health issues and other job obligations deserves to get buried into obsurity.

Interesting why someone like Amelia Watson would join up knowing she doesn't have any of these attributes, yet despite not really being active on the idol side of things, she's still a fucking gold mine. I will treasure my oshi more and give her more money.

I'm pretty sure he was also on one drama before. I watched Depressed Nousagi's clipper video and seen a screenshot where he got into a slapfight with a couple indie VTubers lmfao, and I can confidently say he's an arrogant douchebag.

"Please remember, this is the best for Sana." - Mumei in her current stream

With those requirements, I'm really amazed that them and Ame managed to reach an agreement to have her be part of Hololive. As a teamate, even though she clearly enjoys singing despite not being the best at it (she did the most karaoke streams out of everyone in HoloEN), I'm quite sure performing live on a stage is the last thing she had in mind when she applied for the job.

Pretty sure that Cover said early on that HoloEN were considered "entertainers" or "streamers" and that singing ability wasn't a requirement for the job. The fact that a bunch of them want to be idols anyways is more incidental than anything, i suspect. Also, if you get like 10k applicants for every spot you are gonna end up with a bunch of girls that can do everything.

Don't be like autistic like me and try to find out more about him. The guy is some VShojo/indie coombait clipper, and now I have to go cleanse my PC. ENtubers were a mistake.

She was always a VTuber though. One of the founding members of Western VTubers and was then still one of the most innovative.
Reminder that her previous incarnation was THE vtuber that made this thread have a 2nd heart attack.
