Saints Row thread

Honestly, now that I've went through Saints Row 2 and trying out Saints Row 1 I have to say, the first two were definitely better, but at the same time Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV are also good games, if you treat them as standalone titles and not a part of the series. Especially IV, it's a good game if you completely ignore the fact it's a Saints Row game. I think people will appreciate the third and fourth installments for what they were given how shit the reboot is.

Now that I've finished Saints Row 2, I've decided to try out the very first game of the series. Apparently the Xenia emulator can properly run this game in a way that it can be completed, so I gave it a shot. Downloaded a full package off of some YouTube talking head with the dumped game, updated the emulator to the latest canary version to alleviate some of the audio delay issues of the Xenia emulator, and so far it's been running pretty well.

If anyone wants I can repackage it again and upload it somewhere, but do keep in mind that you'll need a controller to play it properly, Xenia only has limited keyboard support, and well, the keyboard doesn't have analog sticks, which the game does utilize.

EDIT: I went ahead and did it anyway.

I recommend using JDownloader 2 for ease of downloading the whole set. You should be able to copy and paste the text on the forum into the program and it will read the links for you.

Excuse the split archive, Anonfiles has been having server issues and I don't know any better free and anonymous hosting solution than Zippyshare.
Remember that you still have to match Xenia's system requirements and have a fairly powerful computer to run this. Meaning you need a fairly modern and powerful CPU with AVX2 support, a GPU that supports Direct3D 12 Rasterizer-Ordered Views (GTX 950 or newer/better), and 6GB of RAM or more.
Damn, thats rad as hell thanks. I ght play through this again for the first time in years.

Just do keep in mind that it's not a perfect experience. There will be glitches and crashing, but it's still a damn good experience given the game is a X360 exclusive, and you're running it on a PC.

I can't wait til it finally manages to be available in Goodwill alongside Nukem Forever, DmC (2013), ME Andromeda, Fo76, or SotTR, all in a very low, cheap price, while people turn around and walk away.
DmC at least had fun combat and Andromeda absolutely nailed the gunplay. This doesn't even have that as a redeeming factor.
Romances in 4 were basically a joke, but the brown spy girl's one is my favorite. The best one is with Ben King.
Fuck that. The floating robot was the best. "I am equipped to pleasure you." No pussy-footing around, right to the action. Like a better version of Fisto.

The fucking O face my Joker character made was the funniest shit I've seen in years.

God, what the hell happened to Volition to make them decline so badly since Saints Row 4? AOM was bland, and this reboot sucks ass.

Oh yeah. I was playing a Big Tiddy FemBoss so talk about some quality cunnilingus there.

Is Embracer super hands off like Microsoft has been?

It's starting to seem like publishers having control over developers was actually a good thing just like crunch and bro culture...
Embracer can only be hands off with their studios because they have 120 of them making an even higher number of games. Trying to give a unified direction to that many teams would be a logistical nightmare.

"Crunch" was paid overtime. "Bro culture" was competition and hierarchy.

The irony of all of this is that the idiots who've swarmed into gaming pretending they can or will "fix" these things are doing the exact opposite. Employees, the wokesters very much included, are more opportunistic and cutthroat than ever. There's still people laying down the law. Live service production pipelines are years-long marathons of trying to deliver content at a steady pace, and most of it is jot substantial or long. As simplistic a game as Fortnite is, those devs have been crunching like you wouldn't believe for whatever given season comes up.

The only difference is that everyone pretends like it's all kumbaya on social media, those who doll out the law and cast judgement are a mob of incompetent fascists, and instead of getting good games out of game development, you get insubstantial, lowest common denominator, Twitch tailored garbage that sell themselves of being "good" (i.e. marginally better than outright dogshit) years after purchase. Or registration, in which case the whales sustain the "game" during the interim.

Guess who’s trying to play damage control.

He’s getting mocked to hell and back in replies and qrts.

As cynical as so many Kiwis get about games, there are still a plethora of great ones available. Even if money's not a problem, why waste your time on something subpar? If you want a new game for your PS4, I'll gladly recommend:
  • Yakuza 0
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
  • Judgment
  • Dragon Quest XI
  • Spelunky 2
  • Bloodborne
  • Persona 5
  • Doom Eternal
These are just a smattering of games I've enjoyed over the past couple of years, and they're all on PS4. If you have any interest in any of those, and haven't played them, then I'd highly recommend you check them out instead.
the hitman trilogy too

Imagine taking all the criticism for the writing, gameplay, and mission variety, and the only takeaway is to repeat all of those points in a passive aggressive attempt to discredit the critics. You're not doing anything to disprove those points, you're just acting like a petulant prick about the game you released in such a sorry state got savaged by most reviewers.

I don't know when Volition became such an arrogant company, but they deserve to get brought down several more pegs.

Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for?Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for? Who was this made for?

This single thought keeps racing in my mind as I read this thread.

Another complaint that I haven't seen much of is how paper thin the world is. Steelport was already one of the dullest and most poorly made open worlds, especially coming off of Stilwater, that I thought they couldn't possibly do worse. Yet, somehow, Santo Ileso is the same exact thing except brown this time.

No enter able buildings, no unique vistas, generic shops, no NPCs doing fun or dynamic things like fighting each other or skateboarding.

Seriously it was a fucking reboot, just copy and paste the first game's map if you're that fucking incompetent.
