Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but I stumbled upon these videos last night and I think its a pretty neat theory that draws from the tabletop game, Cyberpunk Red, and how it conflicts with what we see ingame during the assault on Arasaka tower in 2023.

Of course he's lying. In one of the conversations with him he admits that Arasaka was messing with his head while he was trapped in their servers. My personal take is that this engram is a Silverhand built up by Arasaka to be an over-the-top, cartoonish nemesis of theirs nobody takes seriously so they can defuse any potential opposition by associating them with this nuke-happy terrorist who rants out generic bullshit slogans instead of the actual charismatic, empathic Silverhand. IMO Yorinobu was planning on selling it to NetWatch as proof of Arasaka's crimes under the guise of selling them the functioning Relic 2.0 chip, because of course they wouldn't believe him if he was telling the truth, and it gets him a golden parachute out of Arasaka so he can laugh as his father's legacy burns down to the ground.

"Wait, how'd they get this Silverhand engram..." they'd go, before realizing its not just Silverhand but a deliberately corrupted and debased version of him.

I tested 3 builds and the handguns one is probably my favorite.
Craft a Comrade's Hammer and you can one-shot near anything with the right build.

I honestly think that Arasaka can only preserve engrams but can't alter it themselves, as mentioned in the Lizzy Wizzy quest the Arasaka rep mentions that the Secure Your Soul program can only keep copies but cannot alter, if Arasaka can't do alterations to a Relic program that is available for the public I doubt they can with the Relic 2.0 prototype.

Best I can recall about stuff that could fuck up Johnny's head was if were to pass through the blackwall where his behavior could end up similar to Alt, another is when he describes his experience in Mikoshi but he felt uncertain of it.
Mike Pondsmith also elaborated even further on what might've happened:

Out of topic but I FUCKING HATE when writers go on reddit and add details to their story there.

Doesn't one of his allies outright state that his version of events is tainted?

Many of his allies and most think he overexaggerate his story and such characteristics matches the memory shown.
IMO the only way the player can know what happened during the Alt rescue and the Arasaka nuking is with Thompson's recordings.

Yes, because Arasaka would openly admit to something like that over drinks in a VIP club to someone who is, for all intents and purposes, a well-meaning nobody? Assuming of course the salesperson even knew Arasaka had that capability.

Never Fade Away (the story) is pretty explicit on all that.

I mean why wouldn't a megacorp put that as a selling point if they could do it? heck they managed to market the program as a positive instead of them looking like they are playing god, so I don't see a point as to why they would hide it.

"I can preserve my wife's soul that is currently a veg? HOLY FUCK!"
"You mean I can also modify her engram to entertain my sick fetishes too? FUCK YEAH!"

And then it gets public and someone other than Johnny gets the bright idea to burn down Arasaka out of paranoia... or Militech uses it as propaganda for the next corporate war. "Look at Arasaka! They're not just stealing souls, they're twisting them!" The idea that someone can be permanently re-wired and re-written like that would probably be the one thing to get people to actually rise up in Cyberpunk.

It also defeats the purpose of using it to preserve a person after their physical body dies. If someone can just come along and manipulate enneagram after the fact, who would even want to use the tech in the first place?

Exactly! There's no guarantee Arasaka wouldn't use it on you out of sheer convenience to them. For someone trying to escape mortality submitting yourself to people who could rewire you into a corporate mascot is a pretty terrible idea.

Wanted to make fun of them calling this shit a "Gameplay Trailer" but it seems they changed their title to just "teaser". There's maybe 6 seconds of gameplay total and you don't really see much except like one new execution and what i'm guessing is the "car combat" which they were hyping up for the expansion.

Most notably they haven't learn their lesson from working with Keanu and hired Idris Elba to voice what seems to be a crucial character for the expansion. I really hate this fucking fad of having actors as themselves in games, or modeling characters after the voice actors.

I was about to make a post about the same thing with this new update DLC. It seems CDPR hasn't learned their lesson that inserting some famous hollywood actor in the game isn't going to make it any more appealing. In the base game, Judy, Panam, and even Jackie are much better characters than the shoehorned in hollywood Keanu.
