I'm surprised it took almost as long as a decade for the Last of Us franchise to go to shit. We went from a game that managed to do incredibly well for itself by tapping into the waning zombie craze and now it's a woke pile of shit. Nice job Cuckman.

I can't really call TLOU2 woke, it mostly just comes off as weird story turns rather than actual propaganda or something with a message.

The real issue I had with it was that the game had very small levels still. Naughty Dog needs to break away from having these small in scope games and expand outwards. Other Sony studios have made massive strides in these areas with fixing or improving what their past games were unable to do. But the enemy AI was not improved by much and many things just boiled down to not being impressive enough or a significant enough change from the first game. Especially given the large amount of development time and you're having other first party IPs now make larger progress in a shorter amount of time in terms of breaking through the mainstream.

Even studios like Team Asobi have been hiring more manpower for multiple projects and Naughty Dog is now handing off work to other studios for an Uncharted Reboot and all they themselves have is the multiplayer shooter and just an announcement that TLOU3 is happening sometime this decade. We have more footage from Insomniacs two projects of Spiderman 2 and Wolverine than we have of the TLOU shooter and TLOU3.

I have seen woke, I have writhed in the pits with it, I have broken pizza rolls with wokeness itself.

TLOU 2 is not woke, it lacks the same type of asspulls, the moral monologues, the surface deep yet constant messaging. It just simply is not there. Any type of wokeness claims remind me of Legend of Kora, it's a fucking band-aid they applied after it was all over to make their ill-fated ride seem deeper than it was. TLOU2 is just good old fashioned bad writing and bad pacing in a medium where writing matters the absolute least.

All that trans characters are is just that, but brought up to modern trends. At this point sexuality/gender is heavily commercialized and they seem almost inseparable from specialized products from a marketing standpoint, that it makes perfect sense on why these characters would appear.

The Trans kid that's Abby's version of Ellie? As I recall, the whole point of her going trans was to try and escape her settlement's forced marriage policy...but to that end she didn't have to go full trans. It's literally just the same plot point as what happens in Mulan with the titular character pretending to be a man to join the army in her father's place.

However, the way TLOU2 does it, it's literally an excuse to shove in a Trans character since said character no longer is with those people by the time the story starts, so there's literally no reason for the character to keep pretending to be a boy. They could just go back to being a girl and nobody would care. Even if they're still boyish in their interests, that's why the concept of a 'tomboy' exists.

And let's not forget that bookstore shown with the Trans flags proudly waving and not showing much, if any, signs of decay. Decades after the fall of civilization. Who the actual fuck is risking life and limb to clean and wash a bunch of flags when society itself barely even exists? As presented, they don't fit with the game itself, except for the sole purpose of being shoved in the player's face when they walk past that building.

Additionally, how would there be Trans people around when society has essentially not existed for a generation? Quite frankly thinking you're the opposite gender is going to not rank anywhere near the top thousand things that people would be concerned about in a world where your food supply is always in question and you're just as much at risk getting killed by other humans as you are by plant zombies.

Ok so we seem to be arguing the same things.

I stated that Wokeness is pretty much commercialized just like anything else. That's why I said it makes sense that it gets heavily featured in products. Diversity in media does predate this by more than a couple decades but it was done so for much the same reasons. So they could have a property where every demographic could be targeted. That's why throughout the 80's and 90's many shows targeting kids and teens had a multi-ethnic force for the good guys.

The only real difference with wokeness is excessively bad writing that wades into after school special grade tier that on top of that tries to be edgy or cynical in order to appeal to modern audiences. But that's generally separate from any political ideology and is more or less on the writer's lack of skill. You could take any modern woke media and compare it to the likes of any anti-drug or stranger danger media for example from decades past and beat for beat it's the same. You could probably go back and watch media like Mazes and Monsters made around the time of the satanic panic and well, it's honestly no different either(and the catalyst for causing it turned out to be false as well).
