RetroArch works for TG16/CD games. You just need to make sure to have the BIOS files for the CD games.

The PC ports of the Metal Slug games are mostly fine I think? gog or steam versions or whatever.

My current PSP I nabbed off eBay cheap has a generic replacement and it's been fine. I personally wouldn't shell out for an OEM battery at this point since I doubt there's many new OEM's left, so most are probably generic with an official looking shell or old batteries.

Reacquainting myself with a PSP for PS1 games on my CRT and GBA emulation makes me miss that era of electronics: USB access to the memory card, hot swapping memory cards without rebooting, removable batteries, power over AC without a battery.

I use Emulation Station on my RetroPi and they have desktop versions. You still have to dig into Retroarch settings in-game occasionally, but ES mostly just launches the game and lets you play.

Been wanting to ask; anyone happen to know anything about Neopets these days? I remember that game being really solid way back in the day, but I heard some stuff happened with it recently; anyone in the know?
 
Playing PS1 games on the PS3 was a big of a difference to me in the last few days. Playing the original Grand Theft Auto for the PS1 with the PS3 controller had me only using the directional pads and the two buttons when trying to break in cars and run on the sidewalk.

It legit made me forget that this is not GTA IV.

heard =/= using.
neither RetroArch or Mame are that bad, despite how much reddit and resetera like to scream otherwise. At least, neither of those are giving me issues so far.

If you can get your hands on it, you should try to mod a PSVita.
I still hope someone would make a PS1 emulator or something on it, mostly because of the dual sticks.
Also try to mod a 3DS if you can get one, the "new 3ds/ new 2ds" are good for SNES games and are generally more powerful.

Does anyone have any experience with Cemu? I acquired a DLC for a game I already have. But the folder is just a bunch of files with sequential hex numbers ("00000000, 00000001 ... 0000000a" etc.) and a file called tmd.0. Does anyone know how to install this in Cemu?

Are there other channels like displaced gamers to watch?
 
With the 3DS eshop shutting down, I was surprised to learn that 3DS "modding" was a common thing, which might explain why I'm seeing little discussion of it compared to other digital storefront shutdowns. I'm still looking into 3DS modding, but it's supposedly easy to do and the entire 3DS library is widely availible. It got me wondering what the state of other Nintendo consoles is. Especially the WiiU.

look up "WiiU USB Helper," as wiiu modding is almost as spread as the 3DS modding.
The issue with the WiiU is that the console isn't powerful enough, so anything you plug in it has to use two of the USB ports or it has to be externally charged.

This also includes external hard drives. I had to get a Y cable for the one that I use for the WiiU because otherwise half the time it wouldn't turn on/be recognized by the WiiU. I'm using those Toshiba ones that come in multiple colors, and it has a habit of making those "metal scraping" sounds and reseting itself if the machine it's plugged to can't give it enough power to work on the first run.

It also happens if it's plugged into the Roku when it's switching between video files on the hard drive.

If any of you guys are using the google playstore version of aethersx2 (playstation 2 emulator), turn off auto updates. The new release now has ads in it. Also on the aethersx2 website, all previous apks have been removed and only the new release is there.

The aethersx2 app previously said the below message regarding ads. (apparently this message is still there even in the new version with ads, but I haven't checked because I don't want to install it)

Someone asked about decompiling the latest non ad version, and the mod alleges that there was stuff put in it to try and prevent that. Aethersx2 was a closed source emulator, although some people mistakenly called it open source (Mental Outlaw's video for example)

Was watching some YT repair videos and came across one of a guy fixing old gameboy games and bar one they all had the same fault with one of the chips disconnecting from the board in what looks like a manufacturing issue that might be common to a lot of carts. Pretty easy fix if any of you have old non-working GB games.

As someone that's never used a soldering iron before, it's fucking amazing the magic you can do to make these electronics work better.
