Pathfinder: Kingmaker - From Tabletop to Desktop

Monks are bad in every tabletop rpg. If you want the AC bonus and modifier, play an instinctual warrior. I've seen some crazy builds with it and even played one for shits and giggles. Vellexia wasn't the only thing getting raped.
Fists are just an insanely shit weapon, unfortunately.
Monks are handy as fuck in 5e though. They get to do a ton of damage and have good AC easier than Fighters, and their archetypes add even more versatility than Fighter ones do. (Although if you run a fighter as anything but a Crossbow Expert in 5e you're fucking yourself over hard in terms of damage output, and great weapon or sword-and-board types are just plain fucked over.)

trouble with that is having to play 5e though

started playing Wrath of the Righteous but the problem is, im retarded. cant wait to get walled after spending 60 hours on a shity build.
When I ran last year, I played pure Kineticist even though the build guide I was following recommend I dip a level into alchemist and thief. By going pure it gave me a few more different options that I didn't consider, namely Pure Flame Infusion and Tidal Wave by choosing water as 3rd elemental choice.
You can screw yourself if you don't know what you're doing but a class like Cleric has alot of leeway in how to respond to threats and buff a party if you don't want to use Seelah or Sosiel. Or yeah, just run it on an easier difficulty. No shame in doing that when encountering a difficulty spike.

They're also doing second round of DLC soon. They've teased a new companion for the upcoming DLC (which they did for Kingmaker) but, well... after all the teasing they did for EE, I dunno.
My old save would not load, figures because it was modded. But I checked the DLC available. Inevitable Excess is the post game content but considering the reviews are saying there are only just puzzles, I'm thinking it's like Nenio's quest all over again. In which case that would be bad.
The Treasure of the Midnight Isles is like tenebrous depths from Kingmaker, in that it's a self contained rogue-like area to test out builds. Seems fine enough I guess. There's also another stand alone DLC but it doesn't concern the characters and takes place right at the start of the story, so. Meh on that one.

Inevitable Excess is the post game content
It's not even really that. It's meant to take place before the final battle and the protagonist is actually just a clone of the MC.

also, yeah, lots of shitty puzzles, so much so that they removed a few in the updates

the funniest thing about the DLC sucking is that they did a survey about DLC during development but still decided to re-do the unpopular Kingmaker DLC

Started up another playthrough hoping to get through the game. I always run into the same problem of never quite being happy with my character's build, but I'm determined to make it through this time.

Playing a Bloodrager/Dragon Disciple and going for the gold dragon mythic path (obviously).

I still hate the crusade battles.

You can get this to just set them to auto win and/or tweak various other things to make the game less annoying. Word of warning though, do not fuck with the flag system unless you really know what you're doing. It never ended up helping with broken quests anyway and might have broken some more along the way had I not made saves before fucking with them and reloaded them after. It's kind of a clusterfuck.

Also note that it still has many, perhaps all the items, characters, effects from Kingmaker you can fuck with at your leisure, they didn't even bother to not have that take up data in this one and apparently just built on top of it.

that sounds very painful

I liked using that to fuck around with gestalt builds. I tried making a Monk/Fighter work.
emphasis on tried
natural attacks are shit weapons, albeit cool

Only if you try to make them do damage. The best feature of natural attacks is that they're not limited by the BAB system as long as you can keep finding sources for them. 8+ attacks per round is a fantastic baseline for a build that abuses on-hit effects, like a particular overpowered mythic ability...

I hate nexus mods. Can you get that mod from some other site?

So far, no lesbo orks in Rogue Trader alpha.

There is a random npc dialogue about a noble who apparently romanced a servitor, but for spoilers it makes sense.

Also less annoying puzzles, and overall better weapons. Some things are broken, but it is an alpha so I expect them to get nerfed.

But the little angry gnome guy is a fun fellow.

How much SJW content's in this game? I've thought about getting it and I can ignore it to an extent for something good, but I've read conflicting comments that it throws wokeist shit at you constantly.

The most notable thing is a magical MTF tranny and his paladin "lesbian" ork wife which show up as important NPCs. You can fuck with their ending which is pretty funny. If anything the most SJW thing you can do is pick atheist in character creationa and tell everyone that all their plebian fantasy gods fucking suck and you should do all by yourself because only superior atheists can save the world.

Those characters were in the tabletop campaign too so I think Owlcat was obligated to include them

I'm a big fan of what a massive bitch Camellia is. Honestly surprised a character like her was written by the same studio in current year.
On another note, some people think the new AI thing can voice the rest of the game. Don't think I'd be for it, but some scenes would be funny to listen to.

People will note that I'm pretty far from falling in with the right-wing culture warrior ethos, but I found the writing in this game to be such a combination of genuinely bad and obnoxiously woke that I dropped the thing after having spent way too long in character creation to get a refund. I genuinely haven't touched it since, though I guess by now maybe they fixed at least a bug from the ocean of them I saw at the release window. I should try to get my money's worth, or at least a little more of it.

Maybe the sewage deluge tapers off after the introduction, I'll never know, but fuck was that introduction terrible. The original's was nothing special, perfectly mundane and by the books, but yet I'll take that a thousand-times over.
