Lolcow KingCobraJFS / Josh Saunders - Amateur musician, YouTube Streamer, wandmaker, and self-proclaimed "sexy goth badboy". Perpetually circling the drain.

The guy in the doc wants to be apart of the documentary instead of just leading. It’s like he tried being Louie Theroux but instead of a voice over and some careful prompting we get awkward comments and long monologues with him in front of a wall.

The beauty of Cobes is you don’t have to prompt shit. Maybe get him into situations outside his shitty cave but once out he’s going to make his own weird bullshit. Hell, even pics of him just walking around in public are great because it really hits home how weird and fucked up he is — especially since we only see him drunk in his hovel.

I doubt we will get another ‘documentary’ in a while. Next guy will have to offer money, drugs, and booze to get a shot (standard tribute).

One of the most interesting things about the documentary was the fact that Josh came out of his apartment building drunk with a big knife strapped to his side.
After intentionally blocking the way of a random car that tried to get by him he fantasized about stabbing the driver had they tried to run him over.
This is a side of Josh that we don't see on camera but that most certainly does exist, a scene like that likely lead to his arrest last Christmas.
Yeah, I would take that with a huge grain of salt.. I do not think doc guy would be above heavily exaggerating something off-camera in order to try spicing things up.

The art and animation on these are always so good. Wish I knew what program he was using.
I could be misremembering, but he’s talked about his process a little bit before and said he uses some old analog equipment to achieve the effects rather than software or plugins.

I watched that Empire of Dirt documentary yesterday and it felt pretty amateurish. I didn't really learn anything from it and I don't think it even attempted at answering the question "Why do people like watching this guy". The narrator also felt like he really wanted to be iDubbbz interviewing AirSoftFatty, but he was really insecure. Like, visibly, noticeable insecure. Touching his face, uncomfortably scratching his nose, etc. The filming was also really amateur and most notably in the interview it broke the 180 rule which could have been remedied by just flipping one of the shots on the horizontal axis. I also thought his conclusion was needlessly personally hostile instead of just pointing out how substance abuse has hurt him.

There's a lot of different programs at this point, lol. Happy to share what I use while hopefully not powerleveling. I've never done a comprehensive list like this, so it's kind of fun for me.

General editing: Cyberlink Powerdirector. I'm sure it's not as effective as something like After Effects but the UI was very easy to use back when I didn't know what the hell I was doing. It was also easy to pirate at the time (as well as it's plugins).
Pixel stuff: I use the XP version of MSpaint zoomed in at 800% because I like the UI as well as the curved line tool. I'll then send it to Aseprite for animation. Aseprite's UI pisses me off a lot, but it's critical for faithfully upscaling pixel art.
The Amiga-looking dithering you saw in "Pet Peeves": Photoshop is insanely good at taking an image and sizing it down, reducing colors, and applying different kinds of dithering. If you go to File > "export for web (legacy)" you'll see the options there. When sizing down, I kept the width at around 300 pixels wide. I had originally followed a guide by the guy who made Hypnospace Outlaw, but he uses GIMP and frankly Photoshop will save you way more time. If you'd like more info, feel free to PM me.
VHS effects: HDMI to composite converter > an actual VCR > composite to HDMI capture card (elgato). I used to have a composite to USB capture device but the capture card can take in higher resolutions and frame rates.
Trippy analog effects: I won't go nuts here but I have a Panasonic wj-ave5 video mixer doing a feedback loop combined with a Sony Video Color Corrector xv-c700. I'll also use something a "dirty video mixer," there's cool youtube videos out there to show how it works.
90's looking CGI: Bryce3D. Fucking fascinating 3D software from the 90's that uses raytracing. Was my first 3D program, started using it maybe a couple years ago. Very beginner friendly, superb UI. The renders take forever though.
Modern CGI: Reallusion iClone & Character Creator. Hands down the best 3D software for beginners like me, the time-saving tools in there are absolutely unreal. The caveat is that they try to charge you for EVERYTHING. I can see why people don't use it unless they're my kind of cheapskates.

There might still be some weird one-off programs I forgot. If there's a specific effect/scene you're curious about, I can tell you all about it. I wanna avoid clogging up this thread with my fart huffing so DMs are welcome.

I was watching homeboy Seizure5000's new podcast episode
and he brings up Cobes saying "to be honest" so I checked how often he says it and to be honest it's probably too much

If you haven’t watched it already you should definitely watch the trapped gothic king cobra documentary. It’s from 2014 way before Josh got big and started his downward spiral. It’s shot and edited really well and is an excellent documentary independent of Josh. It does a phenomenal job of showing how desolate life in Caspar is. Probably the best lolcow documentary ever made.

I can see him dying by leaving the stove on, smoking in his chair drunk, or basically any activity that involves fire and him drunk. I wonder how many times he’s decided to cook sometime (he already does it way too fucking long) and just passed out with the shit in the oven.

Been away for few months and basically nothing has changed. Shitty doc where I get to see him in hi-def and in the wild. He’s eaten some bug boggrito. He tried drinking some 4Loco and just passed out.

The writers for this show have ran outta material.
Eh, its been sort of that way for a while now. Pre-2016 Cobes was great, he was so active and on point with his retardation. Trump Era Cobra was the fucking meltdown era and then some. But that's when the fucking loop kicked in. The "gendur relashuns", the dry spell. I mean, this is a man who will tell you he is on a 5 year dry spell, then in the next breath gives advice on how to be with women, or how to make them cum, or whatever.

The only really new thing is he has gone from living in a dirty workshop style home, to outright filth. People on here who think he will die from drinking soon are wrong, our boy is due a course of impetigo.
