In light of the latest discord call excerpt, I’m scratching my head trying to figure out what Jirard was thinking releasing his response video. He knew that Karl & Muta recorded the call and held back significant portions of it in their initial videos, likely in the interest of showing him some mercy. Did he not record the call himself? Did he completely forget about the shit he said? It just doesn’t make sense. If his Dad’s lawyers/PR people wrote the response, they must not have known the full content of the call, or they’re incompetent as fuck. The legal threats might’ve worked against a 10k sub channel or something but it was never going to work in this case.

I’m guessing his Dad was enraged by the situation and demanded that they take an aggressive approach, denying everything and threatening retaliation. Bitchboy Jirard caved to the pressure because he’s so mortified of disappointing his father, and he neglected to mention all the stuff he said on discord. I can’t think of any other explanation (other than retardation) for why they would adopt a strategy that was 100% guaranteed to fail. Or I guess one other explanation would be that they tailored the response to minimize legal exposure, knowing that it would be a PR disaster. But if that was the goal why respond at all?

He even got his hands on the game early to complete it in time for launch and considered himself to be a close friend of Thierry Boulanger, the President and Creative Director of the studio behind both Sea of Stars and The Messenger.


However, it’d be Thierry himself who would deliver the news that Jirard’s character, Jirard the Constructionist, was being removed from Sea of Stars following the events that have transpired around the Open Hand Foundation and his charity fundraising event, Indieland.

That’s just the inevitable response to a publicized case of a youtuber committing charity fraud. People are going to be a lot more leery whenever other Youtubers host a charity event for a while.

I don't know since they have delievered on their end of the product/goal (a game), unless it was part of a donation goal that specifically Jirad would be an NPC, in which yeah, that would be a dick move on the studio's part. I feel more sympathy still since Jirad would just spend it on shit for his upcoming legal issues.

Reminds me of another character yeeted from a crowd funded game, this autistic dragon thing in undertale. The furry owner paid to have his character in, was fine for a while, then the internet discovered the character was a self insert fat fetish porn character so it was taken out (the other person who paid is a good character and a fan favorite at least). Fetish characters in a game that appeals to children and a game that just has a scammer as your constructions manager isn't on the same level though, it's creepy furry versus morally corrupt human, so I can see having him in still.

Holy shit, another game that happened to was Colossal Kaiju Combat (a crowdfunding campaign for a successor to the Godzilla Piepworks games that never came out and faded into obscurity).

Contributors with deep pockets could buy their monster into the game (which led to a bunch of furries buying slots for it). They redesigned the characters but even without knowing the backstory you can tell something’s fishy.

I remember the Kickstarter for this game. As a Godzilla fan I was super stoked for it and I believe I actually might've backed it? It's been a long time so my memory is fuzzy. But after a couple of weeks the macrophile furries caught wind of the production and bombed the project with money, notably Duncan Roo and Macroceli (aka "Macrosaur"), two long time popular furfags with suspiciously deep pockets. When the concept art of their self-inserts was posted there was immediate backlash. Duncan's character didn't get much of it as it was largely focused on the fat fetish dinosaur, however for those who were familiar with the characters and the people behind them Duncan caught some flak too because usually wherever Macroceli goes Duncan isn't far behind (and vice versa). The developers knew they had unintentionally stumbled into a PR nightmare and this is likely what caused progress on the game to slowly grind to a halt and for everyone to just forget about it and move on.

It makes complete sense why Jirard is making such a big deal about his public image being "tarnished" by Karl Jobst and Mutahar. Just take a look at all the other Youtubers, fan boys and other orbiters jumping and going "SEE GUYS?! HE'S INNOCENT!!" now that he's responded. Jirard's entire career has centered around being the "Good Boy " of Youtube that Boogie2988 wishes he was. He's kept his hands clean and out of drama for years, very deliberately toeing the line, keeping his head out of "unnecessary" drama, and not deliberately wading into it like Projared and Jontron have.

And now, after 13 years of staying the cleanest out of all of NormalBoots, Muta and Karl expose the one loose end he "forgot" to tie up (for 10 years) and he finally gets some dirt on his hands. Of course he's lashing out and threatening to sue Karl and Muta, that's the easiest way he has at regaining control of the narrative, alongside claiming that his family has been threatened because of their videos. Pile on that emotional language to get the audience to forgive and forget.

People already decided out of the gate that they wanted to forgive Jirard immediately, since he's the Completionist and can therefore do no wrong because he's such a nice wholesome chungus dood! He's going to lose badly if he decides to actually take this to court. He'd end up wasting the same amount he kept in the Charity account. He literally confessed to them on tape.

I guarantee you that Karl and Muta wouldn't have gone THIS hard on Jirard if he hadn't threatened them with a frivolous lawsuit. Karl especially, he's been fighting Billy Mitchell's bullshit defamation suit for around three years and has had to waste his time and money on a matter that both sides know is complete bullshit.

I had a hunch that Karl and Muta were intentionally holding back from dumping the full call and full information for the sake of saving Jirard from complete embarrassment. The info about the golf tournament probably wouldn't have been made public if Jirard hadn't waited for the heat to die down initially. Threatening to sue the two people who have audio of him groveling and confessing to charity fraud definitely dug his grave fully.

This situation would not have gotten this bad if Jirard just came out and admitted to everything, apologized, and promised to donate the complete sum of the money + a few thousand extra to make up for his mishandling of the funds. His ability to run a successful charity would be dead in the water, but he could walk away from it with a few scrapes and bruises.

Social media in general in the past 16 years has ruined genuine charity. What use to be a more private and personal affair only shared between yourself, partner, family, close friends, or members at your church/library/club/ect that primarily focused on benefiting the local area has turned into pure international vanity of "what's in it for me?" in this case internet credit like getting shoutouts on youtube/twitch streams or getting likes on Facebook/instagram/twitter/twitter, which in turn act as an insurance for one to protect their own reputation or getting a leg up in life such as the rat race of climbing faster on the corporate ladder. And it's only gotten worse in society with every single store asking for donations, like why am I getting asked to donate at a Staples just to buy ink printer?
How many of these people ever donate blood, surplus of canned food they don't want, or their old clothing they wanted to discard? At least that's something you know will go to good use and not just tossing $10-100 into the void so it can be siphoned off into paying for the foosball table at some random food facility in Uganda (or just outright misused altogether). These dweebs who watch and donate to a tranny or neckbeard speedrunning a 30 year old scrimblo platformer could instead use that couple of hours of sparetime to organize food at a food bank, pick up trash off the side of the roads, or volunteer with the fire department. But that requires effort and you're certainty not going to get a livestream shoutout with tens of thousands of viewers hearing "This message is from ShadowTheTransHog666 that says...."
And if you truly do want to give actual cash to an organization, be very in tuned with said organization and invested in the cause and not just because its the latest weekly viral Cecil the Lion incident. Focus on one cause and get to know it inside and out. Who's the owner? Where exactly is your money going towards? What are the monthly updates/progress of said organization? How good is their communication? The smaller the organization the better because the operations are more narrow and focused on specific niches and duties.
