Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

Why the hell does everything need an app now, even tech you aren't using with your phone?

I got a wireless headset for my PC to use for work calls and listen to media. Its pretty good apart from one very annoying feature. Its supposed to have this motion sensitive auto pause/play function when you put the headset down or pick it up. Nice in theory but the sensor is a piece of shit and will constantly pause whatever you are listening to with the slightest tilt of your head, or start auto playing something when you paused it on your PC.

The only way to disable it? Download the manufacturer's app on your phone, pair the headset to your phone and change the settings from the app. Why is there not a PC programme to do this, or better yet a button on the actual headset? The fucking thing has four physical buttons and an on/off switch. How hard was it to programme a button combination to disable the useless motion sensor?

Came across this Twitter account that posts old Sony hardware and it's fantastic.

So apparently Google thought it okay to force QUIC (some "HTTP 3.0") bullshit in all Chromium browsers at some point while hiding disabling "experimental" features as much as possible from average users. You'd think they'd leave experimental feature testing to those nerd enough about it but no, everyone's a guinea pig. It ended up affecting enterprises using a certain proxy technology which is TCP-based (reliant on the handshake for certificate exchange). What's the point of putting an alert in chrome://flags yelling "Will compromise your security if you turn shit on and off without know-how!!!" while not getting the irony?

Had to update my Rockstar Launcher account went meant I had to sit through 18 of these fucking things total. That meant 6 of them to log in, 6 of them to change my email, and 6 of them to change my password. Fucking why? What's the point of making me go through this? What's the point of making me do this shit 18 fucking times? Is it to weed out all the people who can't rotate an apple in their head? Well, there goes your audience for GTA6.

It's much harder to verify your own Social Club account through R* than for hackers to compromise GTA Online. Glad their priorities are straight.

While I'm beating a dead horse, SAAS, or more specifically software which vendor locks "your" data once you decide to leave a cloud solution. Looking at you SAP Cloud :geek:.

If you decide, lets say, you want to switch from SAP On-site to another ERP system then you can export your data and then migrate it to another system. This is not the case for SAP Cloud and SAP has been quite aggressively pushing companies to switch from S/4HANA (on-site ERP) to SAP Cloud. I'm not looking forward towards the inevitable disaster.
That's insane, our company is behind on SAP. Glad we're going with S/4HANA. Though now that I've said it, I'll hear that they decided on the fucking cloud

This shit RIGHT FUCKING HERE:

Instead of having the audio player be large enough to allow the user to control the player as much as he or she wants, let's just compress everything into as tiny real estate as possible, by having the timeline incredibly small to make it impossible to precisely skip to the point you want, play it at MAX FUCKING VOLUME so that you blow your goddamn ears out every time you play the audio file, and if you want to adjust the volume, you have to expand the volume slider into the timeline, which is also tiny as shit, making it impossible for you to precisely control the volume. Why the fuck does every Wiki use this format? Has nobody noticed that this format is shit and should change?

Oh, and incase you think it's a resolution problem and I don't have enough space to view the whole thing, let me just zoom the fuck out so you can see how much wasted space there is.

There is no excuse for this bullshit outside of severe retardation.

Same with all this e-home shit.
What's pretty much guaranteed to stop any interest I may have in something at a store is if it needs an "app" to work. Like "smart" bulbs controlled by "smartphone" BS.

There is no excuse for this bullshit outside of severe retardation.
Even the severely intellectually challenged could easily see that using that very short track thing to browse the audio sucks.
