Silent Hill

Something other people have noticed is that some scenes in the trailer where Eddie should be mentioned in dialogue has been changed to not mention him at all. We also haven’t seen him even though we have seen Maria, Angela, and Laura. It’s possible they cut him because he’s the “evil fat character” which would be far too problematic for the woke consulting company working on this game. What do you guys think?
I think it would be really fucking ironic for Bloober Team of all companies to cut the Polish-American character out of their game.

I would say they just wanted to not show everything in one preview. They claimed that the story would "largely remain the same" and they would "expand some of its aspects". I don't think they can completely cut him out. But I can imagine them rewriting the dialogue with him because it's too fat-shamey ("fat, disgusting piece of shit") or some nonsense. Maybe they will add a new black character, because you're not allowed to have a game without black people in current year?
I was wondering whether they will change some of the typical Silent Hill puzzles that seemed rather absurd, like the hair that is locked in a box, that you need to use to get something out of a drain. Maybe that is also not suitable for modern audiences.

As for Maria, I think since the game is not particularly set during a specific time, they wanted to change her clothes to something that looks less 90s. Maybe I'm just being too optimistic, but I wouldn't describe her as "modestly dressed" in her new outfit. The nurses also still have boobs and cleavage.

Reactions: Brain Problems
Replayed the first Silent Hill after finding my old PS3.

Gotta say despite not being scared by the monsters the atmosphere and sound design really gave me anxiety. Plenty of rooms I just did not want to be in.

Other than the PS1 graphics helping make everything so gross to be around, there's things done in it that never reappear that is probably from Toyoma being director (Siren feels closer to the original Silent Hill in feel and tone than the actual SH sequels).

Half way through the game when the nightmare world begins taking over the city as a whole, sequences where you're running from point A to point B with the heavy industrial drumming blasting while being chased in the dark by the more mutated dogs and bird things, plus monkey men jumping out of every corner, hoping I didn't miss the turn I was trying to make was peak terror for me.

Even the darkness in SH1 felt like true never ending darkness.

None of the follow ups have anything really like that not counting scripted moments in hallways.

Seeing how they messed up both Angela and Maria, perhaps not having Eddie in the game is good. Imagine all the cyberbullying his newer fat face would receive lol

But seriously, I don't think they omitted Eddie from the game. But out of all the characters, he is the least important and could easily be removed.
His only purpose is to die to James in order to make him realize that he is capable of murder (again).
Still, there is no reason to remove him from the game.

Well, it gave me the idea of an interesting twist where Eddie is suicidally paranoid to cope with his guilt while Angela is the one with an eating disorder.

I'm leaning more towards the Eddie voice lines or model isn't finalized. I can't imagine they'd remove a character tied to one of the game's few boss fights over fear of offending fatties.

Specifically I don't have receipts because I heard it from rage bait youtubers reading tweet replies, they don't link the original tweets, and because I don't have a twitter account I can't browse for them.

While not worth watching, one example is shown here (timestamped).

Calling it now, Eddie will not be white.
We'd be hitting levels of DIE/SBI consulting yet to be seen at that point. The sicko in me wants it to happen but in order for it to happen it'd require a total rewrite of the character because there's no fuckin' way they'd let some pee oh cee be portrayed as a violent fat gun-toting sociopath. That's too realistic!

I was cautiously optimistic before all of this. I was even prepared to give the benefit of the doubt regarding Angela, considering the model really only looks bad in that one frame. After seeing Maria, though, I’m firmly pessimistic. I don’t really understand the whole Stellar Blade thing, but regardless, this is beyond “y women characters in games no sexy”. Maria’s physical depiction is heavily symbolic, and contrasted with Mary’s, and even the town itself. From the moment she is first presented on screen, it is a nonverbal communication of the character. She is sexy and alluring with an exposed midriff and miniskirt. She is also a bit strange and out of place, wearing such a revealing outfit when all of the other characters are wearing long sleeves and in fog, and in monochromatic bright pink in the otherwise muted town. Maria stands out and her design lends more to the unconscious, odd feeling that SH is known for. Contrast this with the new Maria redesign that has her in a black ensemble- black mini dress, black stockings, black boots, black choker- with a pink jacket cinched at the waist (her midriff is no longer exposed). Her coloring blends in with the town, she is dressed appropriately for the weather. She isn’t the sex-laden manifestation of James’ unconscious desires. There is no more foreboding sense of uncanniness in her appearance. Idk maybe I’m too media literate.

Also, I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly it is, but the graphics as a whole look too “clean”. It kind of reminds me of Bloober’s other work. Im one of those people who enjoyed Layers of Fear for what it was, and parts of the remake gameplay trailer remind me of the same graphics style that LoF had.

Just gotta put this in here.

Silent Hill 2 didn't need a HD port, a DEI-infested remake or what this truly is a desecration.

The PS2 graphics still hold up and modern gaming audiences don't exist but if they were they'd need to be deported to kindergarden (without any children ofc)

Anyways once Soylent Hill 2 comes out i cannot wait for the jokes about there being more to grab on fat Angela.

Blooper is actually somewhat infamous for this where they remove all the grit and grime and make the art direction overly smooth and clean looking, the Demons Soul remake had the exact same thing done to it.

That was Bluepoint Games, not Bloober Team.
(mods, why the fuck can I not quote a post when editing an existing one of mine, I don't wanna be a multiposting faggot)

Goddammit, I was literally about to make a joke about how many "Soylent Hill" Youtube thumbnails we can soon expect from the grift-right.
Consultants made the formerly slim Angela be fat for the Remake citing it's for modern audiences.

Now what do they mean by that?
That fat women most likely were sexually abused? Is that the message they intended?
