Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Echoes of Wisdom looks okay. I dunno. It looks like one of those many games that goes like "You can make a MILLION things!!!" but then you'll stick to three or four things you'll use throughout the entire game.
That is a possibility, but at least there's a limit to what you can stack. Tri's little triangle things seem to denote those limits (two for a Moblin, one for a box etc.).

I'm probably not going to play this for a couple of reasons, but I think it's a sort of neat concept, and they actually seem to not just have made Zelda a female Link. I think I'm gonna keep an eye on this.
I agree about the concept. It seems like they're still trying to drive the games in the direction of complex and dynamic systems, but this seems much more appropriate than what they did with Tears of the Kingdom.
Why are Zelda titles so lame anymore? By that, I mean the literal titles.
Well, the copies are called echoes. I think A Link to the Past wasn't a very good title, considering no time travel is involved. I dislike A Link to the Past in general.

Keep in mind the Japanese title is "Triforce of the Gods."

They had to censor it I suppose.
On that note we had other classic changes between languages. The Oracle games were called The Legend of Zelda: The Mysterious Seeds – Chapter of Space-Time and The Legend of Zelda: The Mysterious Seeds – Chapter of Earth. Link's Awakening is Dreaming Island which gives away the twist way more blatantly. Best of all there's Minish Cap which is sincerely called The Mysterious Hat.

It was a link to the past, because it involved the sacred land that the triforce was sealed away in by the sages at the behest of the Gods in the distant past. Ganondorf determined how to access the sacred land, but then found he couldn't return to the world of light due to the seal of the sages. That's why he had to send a shadow of himself, Agahnim, to the world of light in order to banish all the descendants of the sages to the sacred land. This would break the seal wide open and allow him to take over the world of light. That's why once Zelda is sent to the sacred land the gate of Hyrule castle now acts as a portal to the sacred land because the seal starts to unravel. With all the descendants of the sages banished to the sacred land the seal immediately began to fail. If Link didn't destroy Ganon in the sacred land before the seal completely failed it would have been impossible to stop him from conquering the world of light. Link destroying Ganon undid his wish, and allowed Link to make a new one on the Triforce, where he wished for the sacred land to return to the way it was before Ganon arrived, and for everything that happened in the world of the light since Ganon's tampering be undone.

This game isn't even out yet and already there's art of it

It's very slightly overrated, sometimes considered the best Zelda, but it really is very good. What about it do you dislike?
By modern standards it needs a little more hand-holding. I got super lost shortly after openning the dark world, lost interest and stopped playing when I tried it a few years ago. Buy the guide or look online shouldn't be default play requirements.

I sort of agree, that could help the pacing a little, though I only remember getting seriously stuck once, just prior to fighting Ganon. For some reason I couldn't figure out how to get into his golden temple thing to fight him, but I don't know if that's actually something people often get tripped up on or just my own stupidity as a kid (I only beat it once).

I'm pretty sure it's because NoA was marketing it as a prequel to LoZ and AoL.

After all, it's "Triforce of the Gods" in Japan IIRC

The "Gods" part of the name had to be cut for the US, hence giving it a different title. As to why ALttP was chosen, probably because it was a clever use of "Link" as a double entendre. Little did they know that the next game would actually involve heavy use of time travel.

im not much interested in the zelda timeline either because its clear the developers dont care for it but it still bugs me how inconsistent totk is when its supposed to be a direct botw sequel tbh like the fact that npcs dont know who link is... is so stupid.

Shit like that completely soured the game back when it came out even if its inconsequential. Also the temples were really disappointing because it was the same terminal thing just with a different coat of paint. I know im latefagging right now but man.... (:_(

onto another topic, though, which one is you kiwis favorite zelda game and why?

i just started playing oracle of seasons (is oracle of ages better?) and i think i really like it. I had never played a 2d zelda prior to this and its so charming... the visuals look amazing, i never knew gba games looked so good.

i also started ocarina of time but i find the 3ds controls a bit finicky, i guess its a matter of getting used to it though.

This is endemic to the genre, as far as I can tell

I honestly don't have an favorite one, tbh. Aside from Twilight Princess, most of the ones that I liked has something that crippingly held it back

I guess I’ll say that Breath Of The Wild is my favorite Zelda game, though Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are also up there.

I’m a fan of both styles.
