The Walking Dead

so, guys I gotta ask.
is the show any good now? I know it wasn't in seasons 1 - 3 when I watched it but its finally reached all out war. Is it still shit?

The latest episode (six) consisted of a character almost nobody cared about in season five, stumbling across a boring community of survivors who'll shoot at anyone who discovers their middle of nowhere colony. The pace is only two comic issues long, dragged out for six episodes.

So far most of this season is only focusing on two or three characters at a time, most of which not involving Rick Grimes or Michonne whatsoever. About two episodes that focused on Maggie Rhee and Jesus, that's it. Majority of season seven-A is showboating Negan's character traits. So in terms of screen time Rick, Carl, and Michonne only got a full comic issue's worth of screen time.

Oh and Morgan appeared in like one episode, with Carol, again for only one episode.

Moving shit out of Alexandria took up half of episode four.

Sappy teen romance between Carl and what's her face (Lydia?) took up a whole episode five.

All Out War is probably going to be Season 7B.

It looks like the next two episodes are gonna be good, we're getting Carl's arc with Negan next and the immediate leadup to All Out War after that.

Now that they've introduced Oceanside, The Kingdom, and we already know about The Hilltop we can be done with these lame episodes that just waste time showing you stuff that's actually going to be used for an entertaining purpose later.

>Carl kills two
>negan isn't even mad
>negan is a pimp
>dwight is still a cuck
>Carls wound is gross as shit
>Carl can sing
>Jesus is agent 47
>Rick finds a lake of floaters
>Carl hangs out with Negan
>Negan asks Olivia to bend over
>fucking fat chicks
>Negan gets cozy with Judith

Yep. All out war.

It's another "Crazy Uncle Negan Hangs Out With The Grimes" episode. I didn't watch the whole thing but it was pretty good.

Also, Tumblr landwhales are mad that Negan made a fat joke

Fans vs. those who didn't read the fucking comics

On a slight tangent am I the only one still in love with that speech from season five? Where Rick Grimes rants about how the survivors need to live in the real world and need to control who lives among them? Especially when Michonne knocks him dafuq out.

If you don't fight, you die! I'm not just gonna stand by--

To be fair, that sounds exactly how it happened in the comic's
Carl kills 6 guys and Judith is dead

I don't really know why I'm watching this show anymore - at this point it's just force of habit more than anything, same with recent Doctor Who.

Contrary to popular opinion, I really enjoyed Season 2 - I thought it had the perfect balance between action and slower character moments. All in all it's my favourite season. I don't read the comics so I have absolutely no idea how the storylines work in the source material, but maybe that's a good thing because I take the show as its own thing rather than holding it to the standards of an adaptation. I'm sure if I did read the comics I'd have the same gripes as other people though.

I've enjoyed every season of this show up to Season 6, with the exception of Season 3 which I thought was godawful (seriously, they could've just replaced the Governor with Emperor Palpatine and I wouldn't know the difference). However, Season 6 is when things really started going off the rails for me. The thing which kills the show is it has no interesting characters. I'm bad with character names even when a character is interesting, but with this show I don't stand a chance. The characters have about three personality types shared between them so I always misremember who's who or who did what.

I don't know if he was like this in the comics, but Negan just comes across as a Saturday Morning cartoon villain to me. Maybe they'll try and give him some backstory and motivation later on, but I'm not optimistic. This Season has been very bad so far. I've known shows that have dragged their heels on plots before, but never as badly as this. Everything that's happened so far could've been accomplished in three episodes and instead it's taken six. Last week the continuity announcer said a familiar face would be returning but when girl-who's-name-I-can't-remember appeared I was like "What the fuck was she even doing last time we saw her?" I honestly couldn't remember who she was.

It'll put a smile on my face when that whiny fuckhead Spencer gets put in his place after proposing to Negan that they ambush Rick.

Negan's portrayal in this episode is better than most of the premier, in all honesty. He's willing to put on the facade of an insane gentleman and really fuck with their self control. Yeah totally holding a small toddler on your lap, after having killed their other family... Yeah nothing fucked up about that at all.

I was annoyed with the show for how they pretty much made Andrea and Lori into insufferable idiots while shoehorning Marty-Stu Daryl and his plot armor in everywhere.

The other obnoxious stuff was already there in the comics (Weaboo Mary-Sue Michonne and her unbreakable-omnislicing Katana, barely seen zombies not being a threat anymore, cartoonish "villains"), so I can look past it.

But the fucking amount of commercials these days kills it for me. It legit makes it painful to watch.

That is for sure happening next episode.

From a lot of comic readers I've heard the last episode was pretty much line for line a straight rip from the issue where Negan and Carl have their little arc. But they were actually smart here and made Carl's bodycount smaller so Negan letting him get off would be more believable and since Judith is still alive they can have a moment where Negan interacts with her which is extra special to see.

I think I know who that stranger that shadowed Rick and Erin and creeped on Father Gabriel was....

Ah but it's so juicy...

Okay I'll guess, I think it's one of the Whisperers
