Same reason I gave up on it, and Forza as well. Felt less like a game, and more like I was clocking in to work to check off some boring tasks every week. One day I just realized I didn't have to force myself to do it.

I just do them for the free CoD points, especially with how absurdly easy it was to AFK through them in MW23. In MWZ, if you climb up a crane or radio tower, you will never be aggro'd by zombies (including the meat throw), they cannot follow you up, and none will spawn near you. Any time you're doing something else, you could boot up the game, set this up in 2-3 minutes, and leave it running (especially with the setting that stops the game from rendering when out of focus).

Honestly, battle passes are probably the one recent MTX method I've been able to tolerate, with an asterisk. You pay for it once and, with enough time and dedication to the game, not only do you get a refund to buy the next one free, but even extra currency on top. With enough time, some games even let you get it F2P. Of course, this changes from game to game, and the fact Fortnite and Call of Duty are still some of the best ones goes to show that the industry has fallen. A lot of games will force you to buy them with real money (forcing you to spend with every pass), and/or have their rewards be generic resources they can pull out of their ass with zero effort, rather than assets/cosmetics made specifically for it.

Two problems with this reasoning:
  1. My time isn't worthless.
  2. The game isn't fun.
  3. Nothing in them makes the game more fun.
If it's not something I would be doing without the Battle Pass, it's not something I should be doing at all. I played a lot of WaW, BO1, and BO2 without a Battle Pass. I never unlocked everything in any of those games. I played them until I was tired of them. It was realizing I don't actually like the game or want anything the pass; I'm just playing the game to play the pass to get the things in it because something in my lizard brain lets some endorphins out when I'm notified I got the the next thing.

Like I said, it's a matter of how much time and dedication you're willing to put into the game. If you don't have the time, or aren't willing to put the time into it, then yeah, it's just not for you. While my job allows me to have the time, I still don't think I would've bothered doing MW23 passes, if not for how much currency they give, and how easy it is to just AFK them while you're doing something else. It's more of a general statement -- while I can definitely see why someone wouldn't like battle passes, at least to me they feel like some positive improvement after the gambling trash that lootboxes are.

If you're having so little fun with a game that you play it as an obligation for the battle pass, rather than it just being a bonus on top of the playtime you would've put in anyway, not only should you not be doing battle passes, but you should probably not be playing the game.

tldr its like drama from almost 4 years ago thats only really in that weird bubble of "Former call of duty lets players turned into commentary channels" so Blametruth for a couple of months kept attacking this guy called Birdman. BT used to consider Birdman a "real one" but that was before Birdman made more commentary content and like the usual commentary youtuber he made a couple throw away videos about how dumb onlyfans is. So BT for a couple months kept making snide remarks towards birdman for being an incel and then made one video calling Birdman an Activision shill and that he reverse boost so Birdman then

BT is a lolcow, but I also can't recall anytime he was actually wrong. He's one of the few people actually exposing the newer, shittier COD games and his coverage of them should be considered a historical record of how awful they were, week to week. Please stop riding Activision dick, they don't deserve a benefit of the doubt.
It should also be pointed out that this isn't the first time BO3 was broken thanks to incompetence of Activision, for those with short memories.

My dad's bull works at Activliz and he says they'll have several top OF thots in the next one as guest characters and the discounts will be on battlepass.
 
Call of Duty has horrible security. I feel sorry for PC gamers having to deal with that nonsense.

No, it's not. If Activision cares so much, they should make a Dead By Daylight clone where it's an online action FPS instead, with all the horror crossovers you can dream of. They won't do that because modern COD fans don't care about actual Call of Duty and only play it for member berries/to show off flashy, colorful bundles. Neither party actually cares about the IP, only the name because it used to mean something in the past.
It tells you something when even a negative coverage vulture like Blame Truth fucked off and started playing XDefiant instead this year. Even when Vanguard was out, he was forcing himself to play that shit.

I blame the community for the fall of the H2M mulitplayer mod. Its launch could've been handled better with a proper launcher and trusted sources to download those files. Everybody knows how CoD on PC is impervious to exploits because Activision abandons them after their life cycle. Almost every server on what's left of that population are just trickshot lobbies, that wasn't fun during MW2's heyday, it certainly isn't entertaining now.
