The lack of facial expressiveness is usually caused by two things. One is Botox toxicity. Botox can permanently damage the muscles, and nerves of the face.
The second is cosmetic surgery. Does she have some kind of cheekbone implants going on there? In any case, facelifts and other maxillofacial surgery is not without complications. And that is gonna stand out on someone who is, for now, in the public eye. Like her.
While typing this I thought of a third thing. As a woman, she has a subcutaneous fat layer underneath her skin. This, combined with the above, could lead to a huge complications for someone who needs to show facial expressiveness as part of their job description.
I don't see this ending well.

I didn't know this about botox, I've actually been considering it lately because I've heard that it's temporary but it still scared me lol.
People have speculated that she may have had that buccal fat removal surgery that was popular for a while. After Ozempic came out it's kind of hard to tell who's done what and why they look like they're dying.
ETA I was at a thrift store the other day, and they had three copies of Juno. I had to put them all together for dramatic effect.

I know that testosterone use in women changes fat distribution over time (in spite of all the pooners you see with thunder thighs lol). Test induced rougher skin, facial fat loss, as well as stress on the body in general surely contributes to her absolutely haggard look. (Nevermind a crazy emotional/mental state)
Some think she got a jaw implant, but Ellen has always had the big sharp Teagan & Sarah shaped face. It's just been less apparent in some pics, and especially when she was younger. I agree with those who think maybe she had buccal fat removal. It would help make her face look less soft and round, but like most women who get it, would also make her look sick and old. And she does.

First pic is from 2018, so 2 years before her coming out as trans. Second pic is from August 5th of this year.
Wanted to find pics of her before and after transition to see if there was any noticeable changes that could point towards her getting some kind of surgery/implants/etc on her face, because I was pretty on board with that at first aftter reading this thread, but the shape of her face actually looks mostly the same. Went to a stock photo site so I could get raw/mostly unedited pics.
- She's lost weight for sure, but nothing too extreme
- She stopped wearing makeup (obviously) so it makes any flaws stand out more
- No noticeable changes in hairline so far it seems?
- Definitely looks more tired/sickly in general
- Slight change in hair texture/color? (hair texture has a very slight chance of changing following any type of surgeries iirc, and probably is affected by hormones as well. color might just be lighting and/or she's dyeing it for some reason)
I mostly remember her for her post and early 2010s roles, she definitely had a rounder, softer face back then. She was 31 in 2018 which is still pretty young, so maybe she did have surgery or something on her face BEFORE transitioning?

It looks like she got a blepharoplasty. Her eyes aren't as hooded now.
Her supraorbital ridge is more pronounced as well. Would fat loss do that?
EDIT: I've been looking through some getty pics and wow I never realized how quickly she aged. She's 28 here and has very pronounced wrinkles already. Bad deal for someone whose acting career depended on being youthful.
Also, aren't bulging temporal veins (at rest) a sign of high blood pressure?

Her face looks like the result of eating issues and some degree of substance use. Not methhead level but she looks like a skinny pothead or alcoholic you'd see in eastern Canada that's drunkorexic and dehydrated. Usually the women balloon up and the men get this skinny look but I've seen women like Ellen too. She's dehydrated, doesn't look like she's had enough omega fatty acids in years, and generally missing nutrients and low on calories.
If women lose enough to lose their face fat, their face can get this same weird thin and tight appearance and totally loses its bounce even before that level of collagen reduction normally happens. It's like the opposite of fat chicks who lose the weight and forever have large apples in their cheeks. Since we associate collagen and face fat loss with older women it ages you up a lot. And it leads to premature wrinkles, especially when mixed with dehydration

I got depressed a few years back and shot down to 75lbs, my face looked like hers until recently. Thankfully now that I'm at a better weight my face looks more normal but I still feel like I lost my cheeks which used to be rather prominent on me. My skin also changed lots during this time. It wasn't bouncy or full, it just thinly laid stretched across my face like hers looks. Seeing Ellen honestly pushes me to keep taking my omega supplements

Honestly just looks like she's not wearing eye makeup and lost a bit of the fat distribution due to T to me. Do we know if she's still on testosterone or did she quit it because of the frog voice and hyena clit?
Also, reminder that this woman is either a recovering ED sufferer or she's still struggling with it. ED being an eating disorder, not erectile dysfunction

Everytime pooners are brought up on mati josh likes to point out that they have been probably super mega'd and I don't like it because it gives them unearned benefit of the doubt as well as free sympathy and absolves them of responsibility.
That said, Ellen Page is the one poon that actually has probably been super mega'd. Her voice constantly sounds like she's on the verge of tears her face always looks miserable and going from normal to lesbian to pooner on its own would be bad enough.

In the book that's been summarized here, it's mentioned that she has a vegan diet, she also probably restricts her calories great deal. I don't think an ED is even a question at this point, she's had some sort of eating disorder for a very long time.
This is actually a known form of self punishment for women and girls - using an eating disorder to take the control in their life that they lack in other areas.
All that pooning out and she's still self destructing in such a fem way. I mean, if a pooner isn't even trying to self harm in a masculine way, is she even trying? /sneed

There's a relatively new eating disorder called Orthorexia Nervosa, which is an obsession with healthy eating , but I doubt she has that. I can see her as more of an Anorexia kinda gal that eats vegan food. Yummy, 300 cals worth of brown rice and lentils per day.

Not drinking water for some reason seems to go hand in hand with depression and other mental health issues. Among models and some girls it might be because being dehydrated means your face and body are less plump (bodybuilders don't drink water before competitions so their muscles pop out more for this reason), but it also just seems to be a very basic neglect that happens among unhappy people. You see PSAs to drink water all over clinics and any mental health spaces. Tinfoil but it might be because a nice glass of water is such a simple, refreshing and good thing to do for your body so it gets pushed aside like other good things do by depression.
Also lots of people drink nothing but stimulants like coffee so they no longer feel satisfied by water. I wouldn't be surprised if Ellen chugs black coffee to stay awake while low calorie and doesn't enjoy water either now on top of everything.
