Typically yes, that is how it works under Australian law (unsuccessful party covers the successful party's legal costs). There are a number of ways the Judge could rule on who will be financially responsible for what, based on a number of different factors, but I would say it to be very likely Jobst would be ordered to pay for Mitchell's additional legal costs incurred through any appeals process, if Jobst decides to go that route and fails.

Plaintiffs can seek further damages on appeal, but that is only if it is found that there had been an error by the judge (or the legal system itself), in determining the amount awarded and as far as I understand, this the only real pathway to seek a larger amount in appeals court under Australian law. The judge remarking that Mitchell could have asked for a bigger bag would not be relevant in any appeals process.

That's obviously more nebulous - I've been debating "cheating" vs. "rules violations" in this thread for dozens of posts as an example of how subjective such an argument can be - and so suing Karl Jobst for that would be far more risky. (I think that all the defamer would really have to testify is, "In my opinion, using an emulator is cheating" and that opinion would nullify the malice.)

Why doesn't Karl Jobst challenge Billy Mitchell to a game of Pac-Man or Donkey Kong? It could be on an emulator, an arcade, the NES, anything. There is no statutory limit to aggravated damages.

If this were to go to appeal and Karl argued that "Billy need to provide more proof for the supposed damage he suffered", then Billy could go and present a multitude of witnesses that would support his narrative that he was so emotionally hurt and angry when he was being accused by Karl and his fans that his productivity suffered, he could not work right and manage the restaurants, he could not stream without getting upset because of comments, and then people stopped inviting him to gaming exhibitions or events.

Billy and his lawyers did a not do great job to explore this topic of financial loss, which I think is fair because Billy had not filed this lawsuit over that issue, he only asked for 50000$AU in aggravated damages after all, and for 400000$AU in general damages for non-economic loss.

If Karl tried to pretend that "Billy did not prove the defamation actually harmed his public image that much", then he might as well consider shooting himself in the head and end it, because after this judge's decision a pretty large number of people has realized they had been lied to and that their terrible opinion of Billy Mitchell was based on Karl's narratives alone. I would expect Billy just had to ask on Twitter for people who were mislead by Karl and he would get a big response.

With a handful of affidavits from real people swearing to, under oath, having been mislead by Karl and believing that Billy had caused the death of Apollo Legend, the damage awards in an appeals court can only get worse for Karl.

[EDIT] Billy never plead for "economic damages", the loss of talking gigs and other stuff only ever served as additional proof to show that the defamatory statements had an actual effect on Billy Mitchell's life and his public image.

Income loss: covering actual income loss to the date of trial and loss of income-earning capacity thereafter.
Aggravated damages: awarded to a plaintiff who suffers increased distress as a result of the manner in which a defendant behaves when committing the wrong or thereafter.
Exemplary damages: awarded to mark the court’s disapproval of the conduct of the defendant and to deter its repetition by the defendant or others.

What an appeals court could decide is that going through this appeal aggravates the distress and award additional aggravates damages; and additional exemplary damages because the way Karl behaves is retarded and the court disapproves.

It can only get more expensive for Karl from here on out.

A lot of people who use the farms for content in their videos, especially drama/lolcow youtubers. Some how think that the farms will give them a break or something because they can point to someone they think is worse when they fuck up bad and people start writing threads on them. What is more funny that the people he has surrounded himself with all secretly use the farms to launder information about the people they don't like.
Especially for their call out/cancel videos. I would be willing to bet Karl himself has checked threads out for video on speedrunning cheats as some of them do have threads like Chibi(just an example Karl has not done a video on him yet). The only reason they wont admit publicly that they use this place is that their tranny friends will turn on him.

There's no hard confirmation he cheated, no. Billy's pre-2000s scores are probably beyond questioning - they're almost certainly legit. One could make the argument that he tinkered with the board and the officials didn't care or notice, but I think that's the definition of reasonable doubt. However, Billy's MAME runs did have an unusually high proportion of barrels, which you jump over/destroy to increase your score. It's possible to reload save states over and over to give yourself more barrels (as they spawn randomly) and jack up your score. Did Billy just get really, really lucky? Maybe. Weirder things have happened. But since he was using MAME means the leaderboards aren't willing to take that chance, because it's simply more likely he used save states than got consistently very lucky with his barrels. However, there's still that doubt. Not like Todd Togers, whose records are blatantly bullshit. Billy did have a number of other records from other games taken down, which may have been in the same vein as Todd's Dragster time, but they weren't scrutinised by anyone other than Twin Galaxies officials (as far as I know), so we don't really know much about them.

By 2020, AL and Billy settled things already. Two years is a pretty long time, opinions change. The two could have even formed a friendship since they were both targeted by the GDQ troon menace, just in different ways. Who knows?
What we do know is AL didn't dislike Billy enough to name him in his suicide note and video. According to Keemstar, Billy Mitchell tried to contact AL, presumably to talk him out of it. Keemstar had no reason to lie about that. If Billy did nothing or if he was secretly gloating, we would have seen proof by now.

I believe Billy Mitchell had nothing to do with AL's suicide. Nothing. AL's suicide was likely due to a severe case of scoliosis causing insurmountable pain and being backstabbed by the GDQ troon mafia. Making speedrun videos was likely his only outlet and way of cope. He lost that and decided to end it. As pathetic as that sounds, you and I (likely) don't have fucked up spines. He named the two most prolific grifters that backstabbed him instead of the guy who sued him for a million bucks.
The lawsuit might have stressed him for a bit, but that was it. Someone can try and get Keemstar to elaborate further. Now's absolutely best time for Billy to set the records straight.
