The Elder Scrolls

The game was carried by its presentation / OST on top of being a meme generator.
I just remember being 12 years old and blown away at the physics and level of detail in a 3d environment. I didn't play Morrowind until a year or two later so my frame of reference was narrow.
Another thing is glass equipment being surpassed only by ebony and daedric in weight, when it's commonly known as an incredibly light material.
MAN I forgot about how leveled items scaled so drastically in weight. Jesus, what an awful idea. I'm pretty sure that was heavily toned down in Skyrim but is still present.

Yeah, and it's almost all gamebreaking bugs or mechanics. Not exactly memeworthy. The Imperial Guard Song is memeworthy. The whole meme-ification gained serious traction after Manslayer published his Oblivion Poops, which was then followed by the now notorious "have you heard of the high elves", (terminally unfuny) autism cat, ArchnBacon (now known as Bacon_) and eventually LaFave bros themselves launching an Oblivion let's play.

There's something to be said about actually having to pay attention when leveling and making your character.
"OH NO, I picked all non-combat skills as my majors and now I'm level 10 because i grinded alchemy and enchanting but everything fucking kills me because I have no combat skills."
Damn, I guess you should... PLAN YOUR CHARACTER!
Nah, Bethesda's leveling system is ass, they should combine fallout's leveling system with TES leveling system, let your level be determined through gaining experience through quests and kills etc. and let skills level independently, which covers proficiency and unlocks perks when reaching certain thresholds.

That way you have more control over your level system and stat allocation, and still be limited by how much you level your skills and what perks you can choose(and how many), forcing you to either specialize or spend a lot more time maxing out all of them(if the game allows that).

I've gotten so used to building my characters around the weird leveling systems I don't even think about it much

So much of my early enjoyment of the game was coming up with silly ways to level skills. Summoning a skeleton then blasting it away over and over. Non stop jumping and stealthing. Obsessively picking flowers. Etc. But I'm retarded and don't think others enjoy games this way.

Yknow. I think they called it remastered to not make skyblivion seem useless.

Why? Because skyblivion would give them two revenue sources from this.

Oblivion is required for skyblivion. Gotta buy that.

And oblivion remastered

But make no mistake, if leaks are true, This "remaster"has new assets new hud, new combat.

It's a remake. And by not calling it that, you get people to buy 2 remakes of the same game thinking they're getting two different things.

What a dumb mindset to have. It's anything but a "win" if you end up paying full price for something that can potential be complete shit, which is likely in this case. I'm all for being optimistic, but you're just looking for an excuse to burn money.
I fully acknowledge that my actions are dumb as hell.

All Oblivion/Fallout 3 needed were combability fixes and integrated with steamworks (achievements/workshop ect)....back in mid-late 2010's. I have lot of pessimistic speculation in the back of mind, but ill just wait until tomorrow to see what its like.

Part of my mental bingo card is if they keep Jeremy Soule's music

if true then it's a primo marketing powerplay considering how FO4 updated on the exact same day that fallout bongstan released and made it incompatible.
Because that's Britshit. Even Bethesda hates the British.

And furthermore, it was never GOING to be compatible, the update with all its bugs just would not work with that big of mod. I told them that, everyone told them that, they banned us from the discord (ok I might have called someone a slur when I said it but still), everyone told them that the next gen update was not gonna work with their dinky London mod and they're like "no no, were gonna make it work, you silly Americans don't know what you're talking about"

And to this day fallout London still doesn't work with next gen.

Skyrim had the same problem where you'd do a daedric quest at a lower level and end up getting a gimped version of a weapon reward because of it. Guess they'll never learn.

Not hard to find a myriad of goofy Oblivion related videos that date back 18 years.
I did not know you get the search to do by dates...

I always got the idea those marauders and bandita went to Oblivion gates, killed or looted near the tower, never going into the tower and back.
it was probably gates that didn't have beasts.
imagine mehunes dagon being so retarded and filling a gate with your regular dremora valkynaz because they are shittier than a clannfear since they don't have passive damage reflect, gotta save these clannfears + atronachs gates against the hero of kvatch doing fetch quests for the last septim because he is more dangerous to my plans of invading mundus than a bunch of bandits.

The only way I'll be remotely interested in playing this is if it's on PS premium for free day one. I won't spend a dime on it, not in this economy!

Do you believe each MC became the leader of every guild in each game? I always had the headcanon that the events in each guild occur, though aren't necessarily done by the same person.
For morrowind and skyrim yeah, but the oblivion one was explicitly confirmed to be canon the same dude when he literally shows up in skyrim during a quest and straight up tells you about it and was then further confirmed by bethesda in an email.
