Here Aaron says he saw the child acting out and exhibiting odd behavior that in hindsight was consistent with stimulants.
Don't believe Aaron here. If it was so obvious the kids were high at the time, he'd have said something. He certainly would have said something when the kids hair test came out. But trotting it out now?
Kids do all manner of dumb/weird stuff. Especially when their parents are as neglectful/abusive as Nick and Kayla. I absolutely believe one of the Rekieta kids got into the cocaine, but I really just think this is Aaron milking it and playing to the gallery here.
Sounds like he's talking about kids being moody and lashing out. That's what all kids do. I'd want more evidence than that.
The sad part in all this is that the kernel of truth in such a story is that likely Aaron being at the house was possibly a source of comfort and relief for the children.
Agree with this. Neglected kids are desperate for any attention at all and in the early days of a new relationship, stepdads will often attempt to impress the mom by being nice to the kids.
I swear, I might have been divorced years ago if it wasn't for the fact that I was never going to tolerate the idea of another man 'taking care' of my two daughters.
Because Aaron is a good boy who never told a lie.
I've got no doubt that Kayla was out of her skull on benzos, pain pills, cannabis edibles, and whatever other drugs she fancied. She doesn't appear to have gone short of intoxicating substances.
It's interesting that she wasn't nose deep in the coke though. Was Rekieta buying an ounce at a time just for him and April? It goes some way to explaining the bond between them. Drug addicts need a running buddy. Somebody that they can get high with. Misery loves company. April seems to have been meeting that need that Kayla didn't want to when it came to cocaine.
Kayla did cocaine. You can see how she sniffs during the arraignment after the arrest. She snorts like she’s done mountains.
I'm sure she's done it. But in my experience, people tend to prefer ups or downs. Kayla strikes me as very much a downs person. Such people often don't get on with cocaine. They might even do it from time to time, but they don't really like it. I have no problem with the idea that Kayla was over the whole cocaine thing and was getting wasted on downers while Nick and April were holing up together on mutual cocaine and impotent sex binges.
