RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

And even without Superman the JL still has Wonder Woman who is terminally underrated and could body absolutely anyone in the RWBY setting. Flash, who is for all intents and purposes the only League member who can stand toe-to-toe with Supes and not need some kind of bullshit to do it. Batman, who would have an absolute field day with Dust and the weird sci-fi tech that Remnant has given a bit of time to figure it out. And Green Lantern, who is also strong enough to absolutely fucking body anyone or anything on Remnant.

Even second stringers like Martian Manhunter or Hawkgirl would be an absolute force to be reckoned with within RWBY's universe.
How about Doctor Fate? His job is dealing with magical threats, so this wouldn't be out of his area of expertise.
Salem might be more of a problem as she's immortal, but she probably would have some trouble if she was spaced.
Maybe trap her in the Phantom Zone
Hell even the Avengers would run rampant in Remnant. Hulk is the only one who can (kinda) stand with Supes, Flash, and Lantern. Thor fits in fairly comfortably with Wonder Woman I think. But Antman, Iron Man, and Wasp are third stringers at best when compared to the JL.
Don't forget independent heroes like Ghost Rider who are used to fighting demons.

John Constantine would also be a solid choice to do battle against Salem, she's basically a typical Tuesday for him. Doctor Fate is far more powerful than he is though.
Maybe trap her in the Phantom Zone
That's a good idea. I like that idea.

There are just so many comic book heroes to choose from it's not even funny and most of them would probably do well in Remnant assuming they actually have a superpower. Most semblances aren't all that impressive in the grand scheme of things and the weapons, tech, and Dust would make up the difference for the rest I think. The only thing that could potentially cause an issue is aura but even that's going to be a minor speed bump if anything.

Salem would need to find some comic book friends of her own to redress the balance, but she'd end up the toady.

Heh. That make me thinking about if team Avatar (og one) can shit up each RWBY fighter.

And just like Sokka Juane only survives as long as he does due to writer hand-outs.
Unlike Jaune, Sokka is actually interesting as an everyman in a world of magic whereas Jaune starts as an "everyman" that doesn't really work so he just turns out to be retarded because he doesn't know basic setting information about his own world.

So I saw this:

I didn't know this existed until yesterday and I watched it and enjoyed it quite a bit. As a fan project it has surprisingly high quality, the animation isn't perfect but it overall looks good, and it has an actual RWBY style song during its fight scene which was pretty cool. And even the ending credits are done in the RWBY style and look good. The voice acting, especially Blake and Weiss who sound spot on, is good as well. Ruby's VA is also pretty decent, Yang's is the only one who sounds too off. But honestly, for an independent fan project and judging it on those merits? Overall it's pretty dang remarkable. Even the script and character writing are pretty dang good and I felt like I really was watching old Beacon RWBY, in a world where the crazy shit didn't happen. The girls really felt like their old Volumes 1-3 selves and the comedy landed pretty well too.

I was unaware this was based on a Whiterose fic when I first watched it, thought it was just more of a general idea of "What if Beacon didn't fall and Team RWBY had more of a normal life". So I'm a little disappointed that apparently this will end up focused more on a ship than just being in-tune with actual RWBY but meh, it's still nice to have something as fun as this right now and the first episode was still promising. Also I always liked Whiterose anyways, even though I knew it wouldn't happen in the show and didn't want it to it was still fun to ship them.

And oh hey, our good friend Celtic Phoenix is listed as the voice of Roman, who hasn't appeared yet.

So anyways I do still recommend this if you want to check out a surprisingly high-quality RWBY fan project. The first episode was pretty fun. And actually having something like a song in it, even though that might not sound like much, it shows that the people behind this are actually really passionate about this project, they're putting real effort into it and that makes me hopeful for its quality down the line.

Honestly, White Rose isn't the worst ship. The only thing really stopping you from shipping Ruby and Weiss is whether or not you see them as just a comedy duo. And in this episode, they were about to come to blows until Yang stepped in. Even then, a ship is all about how you get the ship to where they actually declare their love for each other.

I was actually looking for the actual fic, but it seems that it's been taken down to be rewritten among other things, and there's a PDF of it in a special Dust Queen Discord server, and I know that KF looks down on infiltration missions to get things like a fanfic to post here.

If anything, there's a trailer if you really want to know how this goes.

Even the rewrite isn't available from what I can find and the only link to it is 12 chapters on the Wayback Machine, and the original fic is 33 chapters according to this tumblr. I'll poke around a bit and see what else I can find, I'm not opposed to joining the Discord and seeing if these fags will drop me that pdf that allegedly exists.

And happy 500 pages to everybody.

So the Madagascar solution was planned from the start?
This will surely have zero impact on how the show is written from now on.
Isn't Vol 10 still cancelled?
I've always found the accusations of "Miles Jaune self-insert" to be overstated because the reality of the reason Oscar and Jaune became more prominent in the show is it's a lot easier to write two young men undergoing variations of the hero's journey than juggling the four girls of Team RWBY for MC writing. There probably is some self-insert going on, but he's not effecting a hostile takeover of the show through his Marty Stu, he's just a bad writer.
Jaune is called a self insert because despite the show being called RWBY, 90% of Volumes 1-4 focus on him and Blake, and afterwards he gets all the good buffs.
So... is there anything people here actually liked from RWBY?
Some of the music is pretty good. Let's Just Live is my favorite song.
I liked the music, and the overall concept. School girls fighting evil monsters isn't new, but it is a beloved trope for a reason. I absolutely adored Torchwick. I liked the designs of Yang and her sister, and the Malachite twins, Neo. Not to say that I didn't like other characters (except Blake), but these ones were the memorable ones. Raven also grew on me. I liked the fights (not in Vol 6-7, maybe 9) though. It's hard to describe them. They don't have the impact of fights like in say DBZ, but they still felt cool.

That's all that immediately comes to mind.
You think so? I remember when they revealed Jaune's Semblance I found it to be very underwhelming and it was only used effectively in Volume 7/8 where they did the thing with Ren's stealth aura. Was there something I missed?
They gave Jaune a super fast Aura recovery speed during the Vol 7 training arc. It never became relevant again (not that Aura recovery was ever relevant prior)
I started watching from the Red trailer and I've always liked most core elements and aesthetics of the show. Characters loosely based on fairy tales, myths, and works of literature,
This is something that I feel like is often misunderstood, especially by the current team. Monty's fairytail references were more of "wow, she looks like Red riding hood, isn't that cool?" and less of direct import with a checklist of tropes (see, for example, Cinder being revealed as a evil version of cinderella with the comical levels of childhood abuse that can only be found in Harry Potter fanfictions). The song they made for this is supposed to be sad, but it always just makes me laugh at how over the top and stupid it is.
Furthermore, Yang vs. Neo is probably the best fight he's done. It sold you on Neo and put in the mystery of how Neo...actually works (The shifting eye colors).

Whether he would have followed through on the Yang/Neo feud is a different story, but c'est la vie.
I liked how when Raven is first introduced in that fight, Neo who dominated Yang essentially goes "oh shit" and flees. They never did anything with it, which is sad.

Hell even a mod here tried to buy the franchise.
I find it funny that Viz media saved me from a very poor financial decision by making an even worse financial decision.

I think i stopped collecting the blu ray's at Vol 8 but stopped watching at 7, the one with the election between Weisses dad and the Hillary Clinton stand in. Good lord i missed good RWBY. This actually looks decent. Its making me smile like i was a kid again. Fuck man, imma about to cry.

I just realized something. They never actually did anything with Faunus outside of RWBY Chibi. Like the one advantage Blake had (ability to see well in the dark) was retconned in Volume 5. I don't think even tail Faunus like Sun use their tail for fighting (unlike say, Goku did when he was younger). And the Faunus traits despite being supposedly random always default to being either a tail or ears. Why not something like wings? Yes, it hard filters someone melee only like Jaune, but that's precisely the point.

It could have even been a good explanation for the racism, instead of being half baked allegory of racism against blacks. Like, business owners could hate faunus' because with the near infinite traits they can have, accommodating faunus and limiting liability becomes near impossible and opens them to tons of lawsuits. There could be people that like faunus because of the idea of min maxing for missions. There could be some that dislike them for this very reason - it's hard to rely on someone who can be taken out with a whistle (like in RWBY Chibi).

I always knew that the Faunus issue was half-baked, but I don't think I really realized the extent. Like, in other words, if you removed the animal features, would anything change? The answer in RWBY is no, and that's in contrast to something like My Hero Academia where the answer may still at times be yes.

Did she? I think she still had it and forgot about it. The issue is that faunus got better starting from Vol. 4 by sometimes having an extra trait besides night-vision or equivalents...
Why not something like wings?
Like this one. There was that messenger guy with bat-wings. Having that plus a Semblance makes you already better than the average hunter with Semblance, as you're effectively a +1.

IIRC, there was a rumor that if it was meant to be canon, it was quietly dropped, in that Faunus' kids will always be Faunus no matter the parental combination, so they put pressure on humans and justified racism.

he literally only time it could have been useful (when she was fighting her non-Yang lesbian friend) it didn't work. And it never came up after, as far as I can recall.
The fight with the chameleon? It was extra-dumb. She could see in the dark, but the cham used her shapeshifting to hide, supposedly, even though she was loud enough to pick out her location and used flashy weapons. The combat was dumb because the point was for Blake to set her own family home on fire and blame the terrorists that forced her to do it, using it as an example of their evil. AFterwards, I dunno if there were any more night battles or if Blake did anything else besides becoming Yang's lesbo friend with ugly haircut.

A dude that was sent to bring a message to someone, but was intercepted by Adam and killed I think.

I think that serves to reinforce my point. They exist in lore -supposedly, because I don't remember that scene- but they are not used for anything at all. It's a real shame, because this could have made Faunus actually interesting.

Except for her lesbo friend, who after the cops arrived turned good that very second, and everyone accepted that.

And they fucked that up too because instead of using her chameleon powers to blend into the background she literally just turned her skin black. Against a light background.

Sorry for the double post but a friend of mine managed to get a hold of the Dust Queen PDF. Here it is for anyone curious about the fic, it's the typical shipfic slop you would expect from a socially awkward 17 year old girl who is also probably a closeted lesbian with no friends.
