That’s quite the oversimplification, you left out the parental neglect. One of the first two chapters (I think it was 1) talked about how Susie at least tried to fit in with the other kids with the kickball thing before messing it up. Her family doesn’t love her and she always gets torn away from the few friends she makes, and she feels like she’s not allowed to do things she enjoys because she’s not good enough (piano) which only adds to her inferiority complex. With all that compounding, she decided “if I can’t be liked, I might as well be feared so I can feel important”. That’s why she’s softening up with stuff like the tea parties, because she no longer feels like she has to put on a tough act to be respected.I hate what Toby did to Susie's backstory in the new chapters. it’s so fucking cringe. All the mystery of what led her to being a bully is completely gone now. Now it’s just revealed to be "oh we moved around a lot and also the kids at school thought I looked scary boo hoo". Give me a break.
