Those posters make me not want to watch the film. Not because of darkies, but because the posters look awful and does not sell the movie for what it should be; a capeshit movie. It looks like a white guy's attempt to make a poster for the New Afrika movement.

This is the equivalent of making a Captain America poster, and imposing a picture of him over the entirety of North America, Canada and Mexico included. Seriously, do Hollywood filmmakers seriously think that Africa is a single country? I've seen African immigrants from Nigeria, Somalia, and Egypt and they were all vastly different in their culture and appearance. One of the main reasons parts of Africa are in bad shape is because of incessant tribal warfare between disparate groups. They'd be insulted if you tried to lump them in together with their rival groups, the same way Chinese would be upset if you tried to lump them in with the Japanese.

Liberals really DO believe that "blackness" is a uniform, monolithic state of being that all people with dark skin share - that's why their Identity Politics crap is idiotic and unnuanced. You can't slap all of the people who are descended from an entire friggin' continent with a single label and expect it to explain their place in the universe. And as far as the Black Panther movie is concerned, you might as well just scrap the name "Wakanda" and say that it takes place in "Africaland." Because that is exactly what the Hollywood execs and writers who made this movie think.

It is also pretty obvious that Bob is incapable of empathy, particularly towards those pee-oh-sees he "loves" so much. He uses their struggles as a means of self-aggrandizement to present himself as "compassionate human being" with the goal of gaining validation from the so-called elites. I often wonder how he would react to someone like Thomas Sowell, a black conservative who rose from humble beginnings to attend Harvard, Columbia, and the University of Chicago to become a noteworthy author and scholar. There is little doubt in my mind that he would be snarky and dismissive of Sowell despite being an uneducated twit.

I have no reservations in calling Bob a racist. His racism is not outright hatred espoused by white supremacists--no, no, no. He operates on the racism of lowered expectations where he sees people with a higher melanin count as "exotic" and need the protection of "enlightened" individuals such as himself. Someone like Sowell is complete antithetical to Bob's worldview where African-Americans, Latinos, and other minorities need the (predominantly white) government and programs like affirmative action to thrive rather than their own merit. I recall him sending out a tweet where he claimed that Kamala Khan's status a minority was essentially a "character defect," which goes to show what he thinks of them. At some level whether conscious or not, he can never see them as equals.

The usual argument is related to the idea that an unified "Black culture" does exist as they all share the universal oppression for their skin color and many are unaware of their homelands but "White culture" is just the product of racists ganging up. Personally I don't get the issue with generalized classifications and the more focused ones as long as they're used in a sensible way that shows you're talking about a broad set of things rather then painting it all with one brush. I'm not very good at trying to explain the nuance I'm trying to get across here.

Either way, this case in particular should be laughed at because Wakanda is fictional and has barely any resemblance to any real African cultures. It honestly comes across as over compensating at times.
